I have, a few of my friends are involved in it so I pick up some of the fandom from them. I've yet to delve too deeply into it as I'm afraid of what I might find. So far I haven't done a lot of exploring into tags unless I wonder if there's a tumblr for something or other.
That step-dad sounds terrifying, I wouldn't feel comfortable in a house like that. I didn't grow up with guns but it seems like a big part of having guns is respecting what they can do.
