Thank you! Talk about going outside my comfort zone, but it was actually a joy to write!
The only thing I disliked about Eowyn in both books and movies was her crush on Aragorn. I felt it lessened her role as a warrior princess, you know? I'm glad she's over it in these letters.
It didn't bother me so much in the books because I felt she was presented as still young and young girls get crushes, the idea of a man more than the man. When she slowly falls for Faramir, it is more real, built on something, wherein the crush on Aragorn was built solely on wanting a man to see her as an equal (which he did) and wanting to be free from her confines.
My issue in the book was that her king - my king, King Theoden, my lord and master - gave her a direct order and she disobeyed it. It doesn't matter if you don't like it, it's an order from your king! But Miranda did such an amazing job with Eowyn in the movies that I saw the confines the men in her life were forcing her to live under and more appreciated her trying to break free from it. Now I am kind of in love with Eowyn, because of that portrayal.
