Castiel is so bleak and directionless in the beginning and so slowly finds himself. It's beautiful.

Oh. You said it so perfect. That is exactly what this story was. I love how you understand these things.

You know, when it started I think I wanted it to be Jayne/Cas - but this story seriously came pouring out of me and it had other ideas. Now when I think on it, I think Jayne must have realized at some point that sex with Cas would involve more than just sex - and Jayne doesn't have time for that headache - but the little guy kind of grew on him. I love your comparision that they ended on a little brother type of relationship - that made me squee so hard. Anyway, everything I write in Firefly fandom is about Jayne - so it was kind of nice to let someone else get the guy for a change.

And the last scene at the dinner table, so perfectly a family moment! Of course I got all misty eye'd for Dean

You know I love the 'make your own family' thing - it's why Firefly hits me so hard and why I love the relationship between Cas and the Winchester brothers. I always loved the episode endings on Firely where they are gathered around the dinner table, because it is such an icon for family time. Your noting of this made me happy. Sorry to make you tear up for Dean - be assured that I am positive them staying on Serenity is going to bring peace to more than just Castiel. :)

I gotta disagree with one thing tho, this here: There was no Heaven anymore either. I think, that as an 'angel of the Lord' even if it's a former state, he always has the connection to heaven.

Like a real deep-thinking thought on my fic - I think I should be upset that you disagree, except I am so happy you were really thinking about it while reading something I wrote! You know, Castiel must always have that connection somewhat - I mean, I think Anna did, even after she fell, right? But for this journey, it is about Castiel's transformation from Angel to Human. It always seemed to me, on Show, that Anna "fell" and was immediately human. That is how it is portrayed I think. But in this, it was more like the longer Cas chose to stay with Sam and Dean, to stay among humans, the more mortal things he indulged in - the less Angelic he became. So Heaven was more a reference to his angel-ness. Because saying "More in The Black than he was in the Angel-ness" just sounds stupid. lol Does that make any sense? That it was more about his transformation - which I think because he chose to stay there with them, was more about his choice to let go of that side of himself, to be Human.

Your comment, as always, makes me so happy!
