Tonight I was going to bitch about some family things and how I felt kind of grumpy all weekend - and I may come back to this because the one thing in particular has been an ongoing issue for me - but right now, even with my back hurting, I have to flail around. The Walking Dead just had the most amazing return ever! They came back with a bang and a half! .
Uh, first of all, Carol and Daryl flirting with each other is the best thing that has ever happened, ever!! Beth flirting with Carl was so fucking adorable. Carl not only getting a gun, but being put on serious active duty is what I have been waiting for with that kid all along! Glen and Maggie have become serious hardcore badasses - (okay, well, Glen always was from the minute we first heard his voice and Maggie has been seriously edging towards hardcore territory). Hell, even Lori was finally shooting a gun this episode. And Rick, omg, RICK. Let’s start with how Lori wants to talk about her feelings but you can tell, Rick has just shut his emotions down to be the man he has to be to keep them alive. Not like Shane, but just…my biggest complaint about Rick has always been that he can’t reconcile the man he used to be with the man he has to be now - and this Rick, the one we just saw, he has finally found that man. The prison is an awesome plot point for the start of the season.
And then, okay, my sis and I were talking about who we think will bite it this year. She says it can’t be Carol because they already killed her whole damn family. I said it can’t be Beth because they already killed Sophia and they need a younger girl. We ended up saying the three most likely will be Hershel (I voted for a ‘sacrificing himself’ death), Glen or Maggie. We left Lori as our alternate. Then right after that happened, Hershel got bit. But my sister starts shouting, “Cut off his leg! Cut it off and cauterize it!” and I immediately realized what she meant and started echoing her, “Yes, cut off his leg. Do it!”. And then Rick took off his belt - like he could hear us shouting at him - and my sis was like, “Holy shit, he is actually going to do it!” until we were both just sitting in the living room yelling “Cut off his leg! Cut off his leg!” and then RICK FUCKING DID IT!!! OMG. He didn’t even hesitate. He just chopped Hershel’s leg right off. RICK IS SO BADASS!!! But then, omg, then…THE END. Those dudes in the prison!! And my sister was all, “Those prison inmates are not about to fuck with Rick. They just saw him chop off Hershel’s leg like a badass!” The episode ended with us pumping our fists and stomping our feet and literally screaming with joy.
It. Was. Awesome.
