Mr. Brink, You Practically Built It.
Jan. 18th, 2013 11:41 pmSo the other day
vikingprincess recced this video which is AMAZING and the perfect song for a Whedonverse vid and omg, just...it made my heart all swell with happiness and nostalgia and did I say happiness? It was so good. But the part that hit me the hardest was when they say the line about the messiah and then put up the clip of Topher from Dollhouse and it was just so good for me. So Good, you guys. And then I had to go watch a whole bunch of Dollhouse vids. And then general Whedonverse vids. And yeah, well, it is
vikingprincess's fault that I have wasted so much time in the last two days just watching vids. That's my story anyways. Okay. But then I watched this one particular Dollhouse vid (seen below) and then I went and stood in my sister's bedroom doorway and this conversation occurred...
Me: Do you remember in Dollhouse when...Topher was all crazy and living inside the pod people beds and then he was all, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," and crying and climbed in the bed and then Adelle had to climb in with him and just hold him?
Sister: Yes, I remember that.
Me: Oh god, that was so awesome.
Sister. Yes, that was awesome. Are you okay?
Me: I just...there was a Whedonverse vid and then I had to watch a Dollhouse vid and then there was that scene and I just…I had All The Feelings, okay?!
Sister: Okay then. That's fine. (I think she was smirking at me!)
I HAD ALL THE FEELINGS, YOU GUYS! I have too much on TV right now to be doing a rewatch of anything but omg, I suddenly need some season two Dollhouse like burning.
Spoilers for Dollhouse for those of you who haven't seen it yet, but plan on it because I told you how awesome it is.
Oh god, Topher, the things you do to my heart.
In Real Life news, tomorrow my cousin's kid - (this cousin is a year older than me and she had her boy when we were in high school and now he is 20 and has a newborn of his own and it just boggles my mind that my childhood playmate is a grandma!) - is having a going away party before he ships out to the Marines. After that, we may go see The Hobbit one last time since my sister expressed desire today to do that and then at some point this weekend I need to go buy my new tablet or laptop or whatever I decide to buy so that I have something I can use in the living room or in bed when I am feeling under the weather.
How about you guys? What do your weekends look like?

Date: 2013-01-19 05:02 am (UTC)Now that that's done, I plan on sleeping in, using a Barnes and Noble coupon that I have and maybe even going to a movie and writing. Oh and I finally got my Michigan car registration, still need to do license as I didn't have all the paperwork. So I plan on changing the plate, adding some bumper stickers and doing some apartment set up. Its going to be nice, yay for another Hobbit watch and I hope you find a great tool for being online and comfortable.

Date: 2013-01-22 02:34 am (UTC)I saw that on your LJ and I was wondering if that is a combo of the holiday weekend plus also because it is post-exam week?
Also I was brave and actually submitted something to the weekly newsletter and the middle school head published it,
That's wicked awesome! It's kind of a cool way of getting involved with the school more and being able to offer something extra to them that you love, in writing, even if it is just a little thing for the newsletter. Very cool!
Yeah, I am really loving my IPad. I know my desktop will still be my main source of use but this is just an extra thing to help me out. After the concussion in 2011, I knew I had to have something more reliable than my laptop in case I got laid out on my back like that again. This will work just fine for writing and checking the internet. For reading fanfic or any extended reading it seems I can't blow the screen up enough to really keep my eyes from getting too tired, but next time I am going to try my reading glasses, even though I rarely use them on the computer.

Date: 2013-01-22 02:39 am (UTC)Oh, that sucks that you can't get the screen to do what you want. I wonder if there's an app that could help with that, it seems like there must be.
Also in terms of things to read, Porn Battle, which has somehow awakened all my creativity. On page 3, I have a Hades/persephone fic, on page 4 a Once Upon a Time and Warehouse 13 crossover with Ruby/Claudia and I'm currently writing Les Mis fic of Enorlas and Eponine. My mind is an odd place.

Date: 2013-01-22 02:50 am (UTC)When you said you were doing the Porn Battle, I figured it had to be the one by
So, are you saying that you are writing a Enjorlas/Eponine porn fic? Because I would be SO all over that! I'll have to go check out the OUaT one too.

Date: 2013-01-22 02:56 am (UTC)Well, the only caveat is that I rarely write really explicit porn, I like the stuff around it better. I just finished the Enjorlas/Eponine one and it has a kiss, nothing more but I think it works. I'm just about to post it, but I'll give you a snippet. I don't think I can fit it all into this comment. This is the very end and now I'm going to go post it.
She smiled then and he saw a familar passion in her eyes before she pressed against him and kissed him, it was a kiss unlike any he’d known. The kisses of his childhood were careful things, negotiations of manners and lust, the kisses of his adolescence were quick, he was a prize, this was a kiss that declared; we are alive. Before she moved away, he joined the kiss, wrapping the flag around them, pressing her cold and hungry body to his own as she tugged at his lapels and he thought he tasted salt. Then she broke the kiss and looked at him, “I had to make certain that you understood. Until tomorrow when we set the world afire.”
He released her and she walked up the stairs, she was their Marianne, France’s despair and fire within a woman who changed the world.
With Ao3, you can download fics onto another program, maybe you can put them on something that will give you the power to make them as big as you need. I know there are a ton of reading apps.

I just...that line...I think it will make me giddy with delight for the rest of the day. It's perfect.

Date: 2013-01-22 09:46 pm (UTC)Oh and I finally have a Michigan driver's license though I ended up getting lost on the way back, but I do and I'm tired. My status report is slowly getting written but I'm glad I don't have to work tomorrow. More house decorating and tea before I tackle work words. Waiting for almost 2 hours at the SoS plus drive in the cold left me wonr out.

Date: 2013-01-22 09:51 pm (UTC)YAY! You're finally a citizen of Michigan (again!)
Having so much time off this week is nice because you don't have to leave the house so early when it is extra bitter cold out. I was thinking about having lunch with a friend on Friday but then I thought, 'Do I really want to leave the house this week?'

Date: 2013-01-22 09:53 pm (UTC)I can read, sleep and still get work done on my status report which I think is going to be a matter of having too much to say and figuring out how to say it. I mean I basically finished the second Kane Chronicle book in two days and will finish another one day, The Brides of Rollrock Island due to my long wait. I've missed being able to just read and be and needed it.
Also my apartment is nice and warm but my car does warm up quickly, that helps.

Date: 2013-01-19 11:56 pm (UTC)Sometimes having all the feels is the best. And I'm about to (once I catch up on LJ today) go find somewhere online or via comcast to watch Dollhouse. WHICH IS TOTALLY YOUR FAULT.
no subject
Date: 2013-01-22 02:42 am (UTC)STILL TOTALLY YOUR FAULT. SOMEHOW. STICKING TO MY STORY, YES! Anways, a good portion of my youtube watching time was spent on multifandom Whedon vids (I'll have to pull out the tabs and rec the good ones to you) and that's totally on you, woman! There were a couple really well done ones I found.
Sometimes having all the feels is the best.
I love that hit of nostalgia every once in awhile.
WHICH IS TOTALLY YOUR FAULT.
I'll take that blame! So, did you get a chance to watch any Dollhouse? First season is much more episodic than season two, which has a more overall arc feel to it, since they knew they were coming to an end. It's Whedon, man, you gotta give it a try.
no subject
Date: 2013-01-22 02:51 am (UTC)We watched the entire first season over the weekend... and right now, the second episode of season 2 is playing.
I will probably have SO MUCH to say about Dollhouse when we're done.

Damn. Now I wish I had done a rewatch so we could have good debates about this shit. I'll be interested to hear what you did and didn't like because for me the whole apocalypse storyline was so good and I know that probably won't be the big draw for you.
Anyways, vid recs from me!

Date: 2013-01-23 01:53 am (UTC)The first video just made me sad for the way Joss abuses his creations and breaks our hearts.
The second video reminded me JUST how kick ass ALL of the Whedon women could be.
And the third one? *fans self* Though I think it's hilarious that Riley was NOWHERE in the sexy video!

Date: 2013-01-30 01:13 am (UTC)Joss does like to cause us (and his characters) pain, doesn't he?
I know - Joss makes such AWESOME women!
The third one was my favorite though because OMG, SO SEXY! ahahahaha, I didn't even notice Riley wasn't there! Poor Riley. (that had to be deliberate because there were lots of sex scenes with Riley).

Date: 2013-01-30 02:21 am (UTC)Bad for the Buffster, good for Riley. At least he eventually got a happy ending!
no subject
Date: 2013-02-02 08:58 pm (UTC)I actually really liked Riley too. He's not really my type but for Buffy, definitely. I think he was a great balancing force for her after that whole on-off-good-evil debacle of the Angel relationship. (it's all very well thought out in that her HS relationship with Angel was very dramatic and over-the-top the way hs romances tend to be and then she had a nice almost mature relationship with her college boyfriend in Riley).
But, yep, she never really gave Riley a chance did she? Almost like Buffy always thought what she does is more important than anything else other people are doing, you know.
I loved Riley's 'drug-blood' storyline though and I was super happy when they brought him back and showed how happy he was, in the end. I think my favorite thing about Riley was actually his relationship with Dawn, honestly. But he really never stood a chance with Buffy.

b) Echo off herself, or at least go out and forget things, once Paul was gone.
Re: Ow my HEART
Date: 2013-02-02 09:11 pm (UTC)OH. That hadn't occurred to me but that would have been perfect. Now I wish they had done that.
b) Echo off herself, or at least go out and forget things, once Paul was gone.
You know, I kind of thought the right choice for Echo would have been to let her original-self come back. I know in essence that would have been suicide for Echo, but I feel like that might have been the way to go for her. Her ending worked fine and at the time I remember being kind of delighted in a bitter-sweet way with it, but looking back, perhaps the orignal-self would have been the right choice.
Re: Ow my HEART
Date: 2013-02-02 11:18 pm (UTC)Yeah, original Caroline wouldn't remember any of it, anymore than Echo would exist any more. Though I did like that there was a chance for Paul, sort of, at the end.
