Today’s Things Come In Threes.

1. DUDES. [livejournal.com profile] ranua went to Planet Comicon and while she was waiting in line to meet Adam Baldwin, she snuck a photo of him and sent it to me. Like a real photo! Of Adam Baldwin! Who I basically have crushed on since like age 14 after just hearing his voice. And now I have a photo of him propped up on my bookcase! I would have slept with it on my pillow - (what? I don't care, I was very excited!) - but I was afraid Buddy would drool on it. I wish there was an audio recording of the noise I made when I opened the package, because it was kind of inhuman. She also sent me a Barbie zombie head, as one does, and I am going to hang it from my light cord in my bedroom. It's very cool! You can see the picture and some cosplay characters at her journal entry, here. I have the best friends, you guys!

2. I need to talk about last week’s Psych, because omg...

...Okay so, the week The Nephew was here, I dreamed three different times about Psych and every time, I woke up in a mild panic about what will happen when Juliet finds out Shawn is not a psychic. Like, what is he thinking?! How does he think this is going to go - a) he tells her that he is a big fat liar for the past like seven years or b) he what? Marries her and has kids with her and keeps lying? And then...it happened on the show! After all these years, she found out - (weirdly like the week after I dreamed about it). And omg, what is going to happen now?! I can’t even. But the best part? After Juliet walks away from him, the first thing Shawn does is turn to look for Gus. And then he looks right at Gus, and from all the way across the room, Gus sees his face and he just knows. He knows. With no words and from across the room, just from the look on Shawn’s face, Gus knows. This fucking show, man. Every now and then it kills me dead. I am a little surprised that it wasn’t the season finale. That moment seemed very finale-esque.

Also, Henry is so awesome and that talk he had with Shawn was just so.../sigh/ I want Henry to be my dad. Not when I was a kid or anything. Just...now. He can do that, right? I don’t even mean that in a perverted way at all. I just...want him to give me advice and bail me out of jams, okay?!

3) My brother came in today to do yard work and apparently The Nephew was throwing up last night (poor little guy) and so he stayed home today. But he was better this afternoon so he came to help his dad pick up sticks. I got out of the shower to an answering machine message saying, “Call me right back, real quick!” and then he was like, “I want to come in,” and I was all, “Come in where?” because I had just gotten out of the shower and didn’t realize they were in the backyard. So he came inside but we only got like 15 minutes before his dad was finished and they had to go. Still, it was a nice surprise - since they moved out of town, we rarely get the pop-in visits anymore. Unfortunately, I forgot that one of The Nephew’s birthday presents was sitting on my dresser and he went in my room and saw it, so now he knows he is getting a Hobbit poster for his birthday. Damn.

It was a therapy day today, so I'll probably turn in early. Hope your days were all lovely!

It's so weird to me that you don't have pierced ears, here we get ears of girls pierced while they are babies (which I personally am happy about TBH), parents can decide about it in the hospital and the docs will do it.

Well, there are lots of pierced ears here, and some babies have them as well (though they don't offer that service in the hospital!) but it seems to be a general thing that girls get their ears pierced between like 11 and 16 over here. If you're under 18, you must have a parent with you - which was funny when I took my little brother to get his done and I flashed my ID and told them I was his legal guardian, which I was not, and they did it. But I think most adult woman probably have their ears pierced these days - it used to be a big deal, but now even having your belly button pierced isn't a big deal anymore. I got my ears pierced when I was, uh, 10 maybe 11 and I had them for two or three years but they kept getting infected for some reason, so I just gave it up. But then I was like 13 and punk rock and not in the least bit a girly girl, so it didn't bother me at all not to have pierced ears. I'd like them now but it's just not worth the hassle.

It's actually kind of cool that they offer that service to newborn in the hospital over there - I imagine that if ear piercings are that common in small kids, that rebellious teenagers have to find other things to pierce?

Huh, we learn new things every day :-D

LOL, nose, mouth, eyebrows...Both my sisters for example have additional holes in their ears as a sign of rebellion, one of them has a tattoo on her back (it's in chinese and I keep on joking that it says "chicken noodles" :-D)

ahahahaha That's hysterical! I bet that joke drives her nuts too.

It's not uncommon for men to have pierced ears here, though it's more of a high school/college thing, or for women to have two holes in their ears. And belly piercings (especially in teens/college kids) is no big deal anymore. Nose piercings are still a big thing though, that's how kids rebel (nose and tongue piercings are rebellious). I just remember one of K's kids wanting to get a belly piercing in high school and he asked me what I thought and I was like, "Dude, it's common place these days. If you let them have pierced ears, belly piercings aren't any different anymore." I mean, it's not a tattoo, it's not permanent.
