Happy 40th To The Best Sister In The World!

It's my sister's 40th birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIS!!!

Her BFF flew in for the weekend and The BFF is making special dinner tonight - (you should all be envious, she is a fabulous cook!) - and we all got my sister some very ridiculous fandomy presents; including the Giles/'Randy' Giles/Wesley action figure set, a Bilbo standee, the official Hobbit movie poster, a ukulele & a gift certificate to a day spa. The BFF made a Green Dragon sign, the "No Admittance Except On Party Business" sign and a birthday sign and I picked up ridiculous party extras like plates and cups and stuff - (that are technically listed as being for a 1st birthday party but that we are using for this 40th birthday party, which amuses me) - and a bright pink tablecloth that made the room a little extra festive.

The wading pool is full up with water and the grill is out and my brother is taking care of all my parents needs this weekend, so my sister can sit outside in her lawn chair with her beer and her girls and enjoy herself! (Now if only the sun would peek back out.)

She deserves it, because the thing about my sister is…she will always be there for you. If you need something and she can help, she will. I have zero doubt in my mind that my high quality of life is because of her. I don't even know if I would still be alive right now if it weren't for her. She does so much for so many people and honestly there is just not enough ways for me to show my gratitude.

From the day I came home from the hospital at three days old and she gave me her baby doll, to all the things she has done for me this week alone - she has always been like a mother to me. She is awesome and funny and a pain in my ass…and I love her.

Thank you, bb! She had the best birthday, I think, given the number of times she's told me how this was the best weekend ever. And it's not over yet - we are off in like 20 minutes to see This Is The End and eat popcorn! Even though the other two girls have gone home already.

OMG, the movie was hysterical! I have never laughed so hard during a movie in my life. I am actually flushed and exhausted now just from laughing. It's stupid in the way that Zoolander is stupid and funny in the way that Seth Rogen movies are funny, idk iit was just...cracking my shit up.

She came here last night and saw all the birthday greetings and was very happ!. You can probably guess that she doesn't like big parties and certainly not surprises, so I tried to think of something to do that would be just her speed. Sitting outside with a beer (or six) and her BFF seemed the way to go, since all the other weekends of the year she has to go-go-go and do stuff, this was just right I think. Too bad it started raining like 30 minutes into outdoors time!

Thank you!! The Sis checked out this birthday post and saw all the great wishes for her birthday from you guys! The weekend was exactly what she needed, a nice break from her normal and a few good friends and good beers. And we rounded it out this evening with a movie - so def a great weekend! :)

Thank you! It was an awesome day and then today we just got back from seeing This Is The End which is actually a movie about what Seth Rogen and all his friends would do if they were caught in an apocalypse. Hysterical and made me think how very little chance me and my friends stand (though probably more of a chance than Seth Rogen & Co!) lol

Thanks! Unfortunately it rained most of Saturday, but we moved to just under the overhang of the patio and it didn't get too cold out so we still managed to grill out. And watch the Hobbit one more time. And some S1 SPN. A pretty good weekend, all in all!

Awwww, thank you. I remember when we first moved in together I was so worried that it would ruin our friendship, but not even a little. If anything, it's made it better (even if we drive each other nuts sometimes). The weekend was perfect, thank you. I'd been planning since March to get my sis' friend here and to make sure she got everything she had even hinted at wanting for the weekend, but mostly just a rare chance for her to relax and indulge herself! :)

Thank you, it was a wonderful day! I was telling C when I went to Chicago that despite us having crazy parents, I'm really feeling lately like everything has worked out. I think we've got a pretty great life, and thank you for the really great birthday!

I have to agree!! I am so far above any place right now that I ever thought I would be at 35. It may look lame to others, but to me, it is pretty damn good!

And you are very welcome for the birthday fun! Just remember, next year all you get is Chinese take-out and like, a book about spirituality or some bullshit like that. Only lame birthdays from now on! (at least until you are 50).
