The Way It Goes, Up & Down. Left & Right.

So last week, I was severely sleep-deprived from The Week Of The Roofing that came before. Then on Sunday, my wrist/arm was hurting so freaking bad. I could barely grip anything. IDEK, but I wrapped it in an icy-hot patch and then an ace-wrap too, which helped but it was an entire day without the use of my hand. (I had to spoon feed myself my pills that night). On Monday, I woke up to...people on the roof! WHAT THE FUCK EVEN? I thought I was having a nervous breakdown. I started crying. I was just so tired, you guys. I’d pushed through by saying that I just had to get through that one week and I did and then they came back on Monday! I had no spoons left to deal with that nonsense. Thankfully that was the actual last day but I was horribly sick all Monday, just from the stress and claustrophobia and lack of sleep. I felt better on Tuesday, but then stupidly tried to do shit and went to therapy and woke on Wednesday nauseous all over again. And then on Thursday, I started my Awesome Time Of Month. Fuck that noise. Plus, we found out the hospital is sending Dad home - not because he is better, but because they have reached their limits on what they can do for him. His infection is better but he is still barely mobile and has extreme arm/back pain which they 'fixed’ with a steroid shot - which is not a long-term fix. UGH - I just feel better about things when he isn’t at his house in the middle of fucking nowhere, with no one to make sure he takes his meds and drink 20 liters of Pepsi a week (yeah, he does that) and take notice when he isn't sleeping.
On the plus side, I booked a hotel for my trip to Chicago in October! It's not far from Lake Michigan and isn't overtly expensive (for Chicago) and I am excited to finally get to meet
rhymephile and
dugindeep in person! Also, omg you guys, The Tigers are SO FUCKING CLOSE to taking the Central League Division! If Cleveland would just back the fuck up off our asses for two goddamn seconds. And, I got to see my Texas Cousin and her baby - they just recently moved in from out of state and I haven't seen her in like four years, so that was AWESOME. Her boy is 15 months old and the biggest flirt ever! And it's almost Halloween! Saturday is the trip to the Halloween store for our big purchase of the year and then the madness begins!
Also, on the plus side, The Nephew has started writing me a 'book series' about himself and his superhero team - (a giant robot and a man made of lightening) - and the adventures they go on. His super power is that he can turn into anyone, so in one story he turns into Bilbo and uses Sting and in another story he turns into both Thorin and The Hulk. Also, we recently had a talk about the legend of King Arthur and the Sword In The Stone and I explained how people have been rewriting that story in books and movies for years and years. Next thing I know, he has written a story where all of these big bad tough guys keep trying to pull the Mango (why it's a mango, Idek) from the ground after it crash lands there and no one can do it and the one guy is sure he can because he's the biggest guy in town and then a girl rides up and she is the only one that can do it! HE WROTE A STORY WHERE THE GIRL BEATS OUT ALL THE BIG TOUGH MEN. Then she disappears because Surprise Twist, she was an alien. I feel like there was more, but that's enough for now, I suppose. Night all!

Date: 2013-09-26 12:50 am (UTC)It was a rough week, but this week I am just letting myself relax a little more than usual and trying to not to worry too much about how much I get done in the day. I saw your post about your sucky day - that all sounded miserable. Down-swings always go up though, just give it time. /hugs/
Chicago trip sounds wonderful, I loved the bit of the city I saw in between ALA stuff. I hope all the travel goes as smoothly as possible.
I love Chicago - it's my favorite large city like that, I just love the way it feels, especially at night, it is so pretty. We are leaving early on a Friday morning for the drive there, so hopefully we'll miss the major Friday traffic. /xxx fingers/

Oh my goodness, that is the best compliment I have ever received. Shit, on my period, gonna cry now. :)

Date: 2013-09-26 12:54 am (UTC)I was just out of energy to deal with it. I kind of lost my shit. But I have been letting myself take it easy this week, lots of sleeping and TV watching and chilling on the couch/bed. I'll get my energy levels back up, one day at a time.
The Nephew has a great future as a writer!
I think so! He clearly loves it! And he's not going to be a sexist misogynistic fantasy writer either!
Also, enjoy your trip lots!
It'll be the weekend of the 11th and I have four different friends to meet up over the weekend and maybe a trip to the zoo with Munchy P (the toddler I went to the zoo here with). I'm excited.

I'm hanging on by teeth and toenails to make it to Fall Break - teachers have to come on Monday the 7th, then we're off for almost two weeks. Dare I hope there could be writing that's not of the lesson plan variety?

Date: 2013-09-27 09:24 pm (UTC)WHAT THE HELL IS FALL BREAK? Is this some sort of nonsense you get because you go back to school in the middle of the goddamn summer? (Idk why I just got violate there. I find your school system confusing!) In MI, we go back the day after Labor Day and run until around June 12th-ish (depending on snow days). We get about a half dozen three day weekends due to holidays like President's Day and teacher conferences, and then we would get two weeks at Christmas and one week at the beginning of April and THAT IS IT FOR TIME OFF! Do you guys get more time off because you go back sooner? Is that the deal?
So, how do you feel about year-round school? I have always supported them myself because I saw so many kids who didn't even pick up a book or a pencil all summer and I always felt like they lose more things that they learned that way. Plus, year round schools get more actual time off. But I always wondered how a teacher would feel about it.

Date: 2013-09-29 10:57 pm (UTC)I would rather return to ten-week summers with shorter breaks during school. It's not like you can get a second job for the ways they've broken it up, now, nor can parents get daycare for the weird breaks.
To sum up - I hate it.

Date: 2013-10-03 12:38 am (UTC)But I used to get a lot of shit in my line of work at the daycare(s), for saying that I was pro-year round schools because it is terrible for child care options for the parents and the facilities themselves. You can't hold a day-long/full-time spot open for a kid who is only going to use it during the oddly timed breaks from school - you just can't. I was 19, I never thought about it from the parents' perspective back then, which is why now I kind of waver back and forth on how I feel about it. Basically more parents just need to make their kids pick up a goddamn pencil in the summer time is really what I want.

Date: 2013-09-26 12:58 am (UTC)I thought I was losing my mind. I wanted my mom to take me to her house and I do not like hanging out at my mom's house AT ALL, that's how bad I felt. (sadly she was at work and couldn't come get me). It's all over now and I am resting up and getting my energy back slowly but surely.
The nephews stories sound awesome!! Also loving that he has a bad ass girl beat everyone :)
Thank you! My nephew is going to grow up to write some female empowered awesome fantasy novels!
