dodger_sister: (friends the television show)

The Sitcom Six.

I saw one of those Tumblr posts like, "Why do TV shows have the one token gay character that is friends with a bunch of straight people, do you think we wouldn't have found other lgbtqa people to be friends with?" and I started thinking about myself.

Like if my life were a sitcom - (and that ain't a far stretch) - and we go with the sitcom standard of a group with six friends...it would be me a single bisexual woman, my bff also a single bisexual woman, a married gay man, my sister a single straight woman, a married straight woman and a married straight man (not married to each other though!). And that could make a fun sitcom. Accurate too that everyone in the social group does not have the same marital status. Unfortunately we are all white, so we could use a bit more diversity.

Idk why I'm thinking about this. I took a pain pill. For legit reasons, but I think it has me a little stoned. Well, to be fair, my brain is full of thoughts like this all the time, I just don't usually post about them. lol

What about you guys...who would your Friends-esque group of sitcom six be?

Enormous disabled single straight black dude, married white couple (he's a trucker, she's an accountant), divorced straight dude, twice-divorced millionaire bi-curious white female, formerly polyamorous married white couple with bi-curious wife. And that's seven. Heh. We're also originally from New York (upstate Rochester suburbs), suburban Tennessee, rural Kentucky, big city California, and a mob-run New Jersey town.

Those second parts tend to make things more interesting, TBH.

I WANT TO MAKE A TV SHOW ABOUT YOU PEOPLE! Like a dramaedy. I mean...twice-divorced millionaire bi-curious white female - that's a TV show right there! No, really, this is a story in the making. If I were writing it though, the person from the mob-run town would have moved to TN to get away from some debts they owed the mob or some job they skipped out on doing for the mob. That could lead to hilarity. Also the trucker and the accountant? That's a 30 min sitcom if I ever heard one. Damn, now I REALLY want to come visit you, even more than I already did!!

It could be pretty funny - maybe I need to write comedy romance instead of fanbased porn! :D

I've always joked that my family would make a good sitcom. Mostly because my dad is quite the character. But if it were friends, I still have three great college friends, all female, one in a serious relationship with a stepson. Three others single. It'd be the anti-Sex and the City because none of us date with any regularity and we're more into pjs and wine than style and appletinis.

Your family WOULD make a good sitcom. Between you and your dad and your brother - esp your brother's attitude of thinking he is way funnier than he is, yes? - yeah, definitely! My family would make a hysterical sitcom, or maybe a dramaedy. But it'd be TV gold for sure.

But if it were friends, I still have three great college friends, all female, one in a serious relationship with a stepson.

Um, what? Is it...her stepson? Stepson of someone else in your friend group? Random stepson? WHO'S STEPSON IS IT, PLS EXPLAIN THE STEPSON!!!

Three others single. It'd be the anti-Sex and the City because none of us date with any regularity and we're more into pjs and wine than style and appletinis.

I think they made that show - it was called Cougar Town. Though they were mostly married, I guess, but still...your friend group is Cougar Town and you should be damn proud of that!!

LOL sorry for confusing comment! Her guy has a son, so the kid is like her stepson now. Also, they recently got married at a courthouse, so now it's only three of us left! LOL

OMG, LOL! I was like, "Is she dating her ex-stepson, what, is this actually an episode of Cougar Town, omg!" Okay, that makes more sense, she has a step-kid, lol.

I'm an anti-social introverted hermit so instead of sitcom six I would be Buffy from the episode where she wakes up in a mental hospital realizing/people telling her that her friends are imaginary and that she's crazy.

Unless online friends count, then it gets interesting :-D

OMG, NO, that's terrible. Though, kudos to you for referencing a Buffy episode that doesn't usually get a lot of love! (I thought it was a awesome ep myself).

Oh, you can absolutely count online friends!! Do it, bring it, give me your six!

Hmm, there would be me, the multilingual weirdo who's into a little bit of everything, the (hopefully temporarily, we're crossing fingers for good healing of injuries) disabled martial arts and weapons loving actress and writer who's really into Star Wars, the badass chick who hates Christmas because it's at the same time as her birthday and it pisses her off so instead of a Christmas card I send her a birthday card, the self-employed mommy of three who kicks ass, the dog training scientist who makes porny art and the cute little Italian boy who has a heart of gold and is my honorary little brother :-D

Omg, I just found this in my inbox and was like laughing so hard. I want to stick your friend group in an RV (motor home) and send them on a cross country trip while it all gets filmed reality tv style! I mean, I know this post was about sitcoms, but you all sound like a reality tv show in the making! Lol!
