Writing - Sometimes I Actually Do It...

I don't have a writing icon. That is sad. So I'm using this icon, because really, my babble about my writing will probably make you snoozy. ;)
I started trying to write for 500 words/a half hour everyday since the beginning of the month.
For a weekly total of 3,500 words.
Last week I wrote on only three days, but still managed 4,222 words.
This week I didn't write all week, at all...until last night, when I apparently decided to do my entire week in one night - 3,792 words.
It was pretty late and I had just come off of having The Nephew for the weekend, so I was mildly incoherent. Which leads me to wonder if any of it was comprehensible or not...but I still typed actual words, so yay me!
Most importantly, I finished a Dean/Cas fic that I have been working on since August. August, peoples. And it is only like 4,500 words, so not epic or anything. I had one scene left to go and I could not get it. For months. But I finished it and that, more than the word count, has made me happy.
I also finished my Thanksgiving fic, which I just started the week before. I was a little worried I wouldn't get it done by, you know, Thanksgiving - (wee!Sammy would not stop chattering away like a crack monkey!). I was mostly worried because I let it sit for a few days without working on it, and that is usually the thing that causes me to never be able to pick something back up again. But I finished my Thanksgiving fic too!
I finished fic! Seriously, I sound like a crazy person right now, but my list of unfinished fics just keeps getting longer, so it is a relief to know I have the ability to write the words "The End".
Okay, that is all.

Date: 2010-11-16 02:39 am (UTC)Btw, do you need a beta? My schedule is light enough to take on a job this week and 4500 words is not a lot for me. I'm a pretty good beta (even though I haven't beta-ed anything in years. Erm . . . probably should not have told you that). Just tell me what you want/need. And if you have another beta lined up, it's all good.
Yay as well for the Thanksgiving fic! I know what you mean about holiday-related fic. The deadlines are unmovable and these fics generally follow certain themes or conventions of the season. I suck majorly at holiday fics even though I want to write them. (Like this past Halloween? I had all these ideas but didn't dare touch any of them.)
You don't sound crazy for finishing fic. It's an achievement. This, my dear, is precisely why I'm a one-fic, one-fandom, one-pairing at a time girl. *waggles eyebrows*
Let me know about the Dean/Cas!

Date: 2010-11-16 08:31 am (UTC)Except this time, with this fic, I was looking through my Flist, wondering who I felt comfortable enough with and that was into Dean/Cas at all, that could maybe take a look at this one fic for me. Because I have been struggling so much with it. I have been working on it for so long now, that I can't tell anymore if it is any good or if it makes any sense.
So more than anything, I just need a fresh pair of eyes.
And of all the fic I have written/posted, I have never cared one way or another about a beta, nor has anyone offered. Until last night, when I finished the fic and went to bed thinking, "I should have someone else look that over." And here you are.
I am weirded out.
And grateful.
Thanksgiving Fic came to me a few weeks ago, but I just needed to spend some time with The Nephew to get that extra inspiration for wee!Sammy. It is adorable weechesters, but because it is me, there is also some mini-angst in there too. And Bobby wears an apron. And there is pie, because that is what Thanksgiving is really all about.

Well, you know me, I am a slut, even for fic writing. I just wrote two SPN fics! Not CW RPS! Oh whew, I maybe don't have The CW Sickness Plague after all.
Yeah, so I lost your email when Stewart died in The Great Computer Crash last year, so PM me that shit and I can send you the Dean/Cas. Do you have Word or should I transfer it to something else?
Thank you, I would tell you that I love you, but we don't get schmoopy with each other. /one armed hug with an extra pat thrown in/

Date: 2010-11-23 08:39 am (UTC)But Dogma is by far the best. It is almost a completely different kind of movie than he usually makes. I mean, it's still Kevin, but it's just...I don't know, better than the others. But I will also always have a soft spot in my heart for Mallrats forever. And if you haven't seen it, I rec Jersey Girl. It is fun and cute and heartfelt, but not, you know, with Jay & Silent Bob, cuz it's not that kind of movie.

Date: 2010-11-17 08:25 am (UTC)I used guilt to push myself through to get the word count that night. I was like, "You will not fail on week 2, woman!! Get on it!!" I am my own beta and apparently I am very hard on myself. ;)
I was thinking of asking you to look the Dean/Cas fic over for me, since I struggled with it so much, and you are my go-to-Dean/Cas girl - but a friend offered to help already, so I'm going to let her do it. I am sure there will be more struggling over finding Castiel's voice in the future though. It's hard when I tend to always have a humorous side to things, in combination with Castiel, sometimes I flail around about it.
It's getting close to Thanksgiving, so I will probably post that this weekend and then the Dean/Cas. :)

Date: 2010-11-18 03:02 pm (UTC)you are my go-to-Dean/Cas girl
*blush* This makes me happy, you know. :D
I'd love to help, so if you're flailing in the future, don't hesitate to PM me or something. :) I don't know how much help I'd be, but I could try. ;)
Yay! Fic! From you! Looking forward to it!
