So, this is my birthday post (okay, so it is an hour too early but whatever). As long as I don't fall on my face once my houseguests leave, I will be typing up my first fanfic ever (I have to type it up because it is hand-written in my old elementary school diary) as my gift to all of you on my birthday.

Also, The BFF will be returning home from her exile and we can give each other big birthday hugs, as it is her birthday as well! It is The BFF's hobbit-coming-of-age this year. I feel like we should give her a round of applause and some scones or tea and biscuits. My sister is taking us both out to a super fancy birthday dinner this weekend.

I have many things to tell you all about my visit with my brother and family, but right now I just spent an hour and a half talking with him and his wife about The Apocalypse and now I am very tired (I get all riled up talking about the end of the world, you know).

So let me leave you with this picture of me as a baby. I think maybe baby-pictures will be a birthday tradition for me on LJ, since I did it last year. I mean, I was an adorable kid, right?

I think the longest I went without LJ since starting it was the two weeks we were in China. I checked emails a couple of times, but internet was by the minute, and too costly to browse my favorite social and writing site. Luckily, and perhaps also unsurprisingly, China was fascinating enough that I didn't miss LJ much at all.

It doesn't feel like that long ago, but then I think, "That picture was taken in 1979," and then I stop and am like, "Holy shit! It's 2012 right now and that pic was taken in 1979).

Wow.

That playpen in the picture is one of those ones that they don't make now because kids could get their heads stuck in between the bars. :) Yet I still have that baby doll, though all of her hair has been rubbed off.

I do that with films and songs, you'll be like oh, I know this, I remember it when....wait, it's been ten years or more, all the kids in the flms are adults sort of thing, alwasy gives me a wowo moment.

I think I remember reading something about playpens being changed, I don't even remember having one. I still have two very old soft toys, one a bear from when I was about a month old, they both look very tiered and worn, but some things you just have to keep.

I wasn't much of a doll girl though, maybe becuase my mother dressed me as one? Or maybe it was accidently getting to see the film childsplay as a small cild lol

I was just thinking the other day about Jurassic Park and how that came out the same year we got the bigger movie theater in town and then I realized that was in 1993 - I was like 15 at the time. Holy shit.

Awwwww. My mom still has her childhood bear and honestly, at this point, it kind of creeps me out. The stuffing has all fallen out and it is missing an eye and a nose.

Why would your mom dress you like a doll? Just...no. My mom used to purposely dress my red headed siblings up like Raggedy Ann and Andy, in all the plaid and overalls and they hated it!

I love my doll. My sister got this baby doll when she was born and then when she was five, my parents brought me home from the hospital and she marched right over and put her baby doll in my crib and I have had the doll ever since.

How old were you when you saw Childsplay? That doll was freaky. I had a baby doll named Elizabeth that was like a fake Cabbage Patch Kid that looked a lot like that Childspaly doll. My older bro and sis were watching the movie one night, home alone, in the dark and my sister went to the bathroom and when she came back out, my brother had strung Elizabeth up in the living room by her neck. My sister just stood there screaming and screaming. My brother was kind of a shithead.

When I was little I looked like a china doll, pale skin, natural loose curls, the works, so my Mum would put me in all these frilly dresses and matching hair ribbons. I think it's why I rebelled against dresses for a while, everyone says I looked adorable, but it makes me cringe.

I think I was around 8 or 9, my brother put it on when my Dad was out and my Mum was working in the garden. And the china doll my Dad had got me always looked like it was staring at you, not a good combination lol

Your brother sounds a lot like mine when it comes to stuff like that and your Mom dressing them up as Raggedy Ann and Andy, I can imagine them hating that.
