Well, almost the end of this month, but let's do my word count for last month. Halfway through August I set a goal for 9,000 words in an attempt to finish four stories I was working on. I ended up hitting 10,700 words in those six weeks. I finished three of the four stories as well. I still have not finished The BFF's fic but I wrote three times as much on it in September as I did in August, so I'll take that. That fic is like, "Oh, it needs about 4,000 more words," and then I write another 1,000 words and I look at it and think, "Nope, it still needs 4,000 more words." It's like the nightmare about running down the hallway and you can see the end, but it just gets farther and farther away. But I'm still working on it and I'm still loving it, so that's all good. Anyways, I am very happy with how September's writing went as a whole.

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

Week One: 1,700 words of Spiderman & His Amazing Friends fic. Completed. (already posted!)
200 words of Angel/Supernatural Threesome fic.
Week Two: 3,000 words of Angel/Supernatural Threesome fic. Completed. (already posted!)
550 words of Random Dean/Cas AU.
Week Three: 1,100 words of Leverage fic. Completed.
850 words of Secret Crossover fic.
Week Four: 900 words of Secret Crossover fic.

8,300 words written in September!

United Here, Somehow
A fic wherein the apocalypse is descending on The Winchesters and everything sucks, so Dean drowns himself in Glee fanfic and Livejournal. Yes, you read that correctly. I love this fic so hard. I wrote it for my teenage cousin during the re-awakening of my muses, which makes it extra special to me. It was so much fun to write the fangirl experience through Dean Winchester and the awesome first season of Glee. Also, I think this may be the fic that started to get my stories a little bit of notice. I feel like I should say more about a story that I love so much but I think the fic speaks for itself.

The Rules of Rosenbaum's (Or What Happens Here, Stays Here)
An AU fic wherein Misha attends a work party with his roommate Jensen and ends up jerking off to porn in front of Jensen's boss, Rosenbaum. For a fic that is so clearly about porn, this one took me forever to finally get to the naked bits. The set-up was too much fun to write and the Js would not stop flirting with each other. When I did get to the porn bits though, I had to add a few new kink tags to my list. /dirty leer/ I am really rather fond of both Misha and Michael in this fic and writing their dialogue with each other was a blast.

The Leaf & The Wind
An old Firefly fic I wrote way back when, in which Jayne observes the relationship of Wash & Zoe. I like this because it serves as not only a character piece about my man, Jayne, but also as an outside look at the love of Zoe and Wash, whom I adore like a crazy amount. This is the first Firefly fic I ever wrote. It's short and sweet and perfect.

October is going really well, writing-wise. I decided to write an Avengers Halloween story. As always happens with my fics, I planned on it being about 4,000 words and now I realize it will be closer to 8,000. Mostly I blame Darcy and Bruce for this and the fact that they just want to stand around being all cute together instead of letting me haunt the shit out of Darcy's dreams. I can't be too upset about it though because they are adorable. Hopefully, I'll actually get it finished in time to post for Halloween. I also have written more on The BFF's fic - I mentally divided it up into three sections in my head and I have finally reached Section Three. It's all coming along.

Thanks, babe! Now it looks like I am about to break my monthly word count record here in October. It's clearly Darcy's fault because this fic I am writing about her is just flowing out of me. You know why though right?

Oh, how I love your Dean/Glee fic. I'm not even sure how many times I've read it, but enough that I can go through it in my head while I'm driving that's for sure.

If it won't jinx it I hope the next month of writing goes as well or better. Or you can ignore I said anything so as not to annoy the fickle muses. :D

Thanks, darling! I hit 10,000 words in six weeks last month, but right now it looks like I might hit 10,000 words in only three weeks, in my crazy attempt to finish this Halloween story in time. So don't worry, I don't think you jinxed anything - (though my muses are fickle, it's true - oh crap, now I'm worried that I just jinxed it, lol).

Dude. I have the biggest grin on my face right now. That makes me so happy. I really feel like it was the story, post drug-detox, that re-awakened my muses and took my writing to the next level and I love that you love it so much! I also love that you referred to it as my 'Dean/Glee' fic as if I am slashing Dean with Glee, because if you think about it, that's exactly what I was doing. ;)

How can you tell beforehand how many words (well, approximately) a fic will be? Because I NEVER know. I mean, my BB started out as something I would finish in 2000 words or something...

Thanks, babe! The BFF's fic is coming along, it just seems like the more I write on it, the more I realize I still need - that's why it feels like the never-ending corridor. I started out thinking it would be about 5,000 words and I'll be lucky to keep it under 20,000.

Clearly I never know either, hence why the 5,000 words I expected to do on The BFF fic's has turned into 12,000 and I am still not finished! It's why my Halloween story, which I expected to be 3,000 words, turned into 13,000. And why the Dean/Cas fic I am working on now, which I thought would 1,000, has already reach 3,000. I clearly largely under-estimate what my word count will be, even on fics that I have planned out ahead of time. (Even your birthday fic turned out about 3x as long as I had expected but at least that was a case of the story taking itself in an entirely different direction than I had planned).

I can't even imagine that now. I do love a good domesticated Dean-has-a-baby fic but I can't even look at your story now and see that original idea you started telling me about, what, two years ago. I certainly can't see it being only 2,000 words! lol

Me neither! God, it has evolved so much from that. I guess that's what happens when you let an idea rest for a few years. :p
