So, here are my totals for last year. My goal was initially to do 500 words a day. Then I cut it down to 1,000 words a week. Most months I didn’t make that goal, especially in the last six months of the year when word count production was cut in thirds due to stress and like no free time for myself. Also, I am just ridiculously amused that my highest fandom total was for SPN. Like, I don’t even go there anymore! It’s Dean/Cas, they won’t let me go! And, yes, 8 ½ fics completed totally makes sense because I wrote a chapter of a book that I hope to continue on writing this year and actually finishing. It was an idea that my grandma put to me and I laughed it off and she called me out and demanded I write it. So I wrote her a chapter for her Christmas present. Which I count as the ½. I finished the chapter in time for Christmas, but I have not finished the book. Thus, the ½. Hopefully, I’ll keep at that one.

So, here are some numbers:

Words Written In 2015!

By Month and Fandom under the cut. )

January had my highest monthly count at 6,650 words.
September had my lowest monthly count at 450 words.
Supernatural had my highest fandom count at 13,330 words.
Leverage had my lowest fandom count at 250 words.
11 Fandoms written in.
16 Fics worked on.
8 1/2 Fics completed.
13 Fics posted.
23,600 words written in the first six months of 2015.
8,450 words written in the last six months of 2015.

32,050 total words written in 2015!

So, how’d you all do this past year with writing and posting?
dodger_sister: (writing)
I haven't really been posting my word counts this year, mostly because they have been so dismal and also because I keep track of that stuff on my desktop and I swear, I barely turn that thing on anymore, especially now that I have my fancy new IPad keyboard. But I have been keeping track, so I figured now is a good time to post the first 6 months of word counts.

Here we go! January - June, under the cut. )

It's only about a quarter of my yearly goal - which is 100k - so not that great, but maybe I can make up for it in the second half of the year, now that I am getting used to juggling my new spoon-level better. That whole 'write everyday, even if it's just 100 words' thing I tried in May didn't really work. Maybe I should try again.
dodger_sister: (chuck shurley)
Saw one of those memes going around - “Post the first line/paragraph of your last 20 fics.” I never post in the order that I write - my organization is mayhem - but I have this folder of finished fics that are just waiting for a final read-thru and some header info and I happen to have 20 fics in there, so that’s where I’m pulling these lines from. Eventually, I might get around to posting the stories themselves!

Jared was a pretty good roommate, Jensen had to admit that. He hung up his bathroom towels and rinsed off his dirty dishes and most importantly, he took Jensen to parties that had liquor - the good kind, not the piss-water beer Jensen’s friends always served.

19 more under the cut! )

I may have had to re-read some of these as I was doing this meme. Like idk what it says about me, but I really like my own stories a lot. Have a go, if you like!

So this has been going around on Tumblr, but for those of you that aren't on Tumblr, I thought I'd give you a heads up. This website, ebooks-trees, has been using a bot to randomly and rapidly steal fics archived at AO3 and other places. Without permission. And then making money off those fics through the advertisements they sell there and, though they claim to be a free site, demanding your credit card to set up an account. Which means not only are they taking our fics without permission, but they are making money off of the work we did. Last night I checked out the people I follow on AO3 and almost every single one had multiple fics stolen. Though thankfully not any of my own, they did steal the podfic my sister did of my fic, Baggins Books. ([livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, you had 12 fics up there last night, though they seem to have been taken down now). There was lots of info going around about how to demand your stuff be taken down and they must have gotten slammed with emails last night, because as of this afternoon, most of my friends' works have been removed. ([livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland, as of last check, you still had one fic remaining). I just feel like it's completely against fandom and internet etiquette to repost others' works without their permission and certainly to make money off someone else's works. What bullshit. As I said, it's mostly resolved now, but if you want to follow a good place that is keeping updated on it, go here or here.

And now, to promote some good stuff in fandom, have some fic recs. 5 fic recs under the cut. )

And since we are on the subject of fandom, what do you all think I should do for my 5 year LJ anniversary, coming up in May? Some sort of special post I can make? Did any of you celebrate your five years on LJ?

So, now that it is the end of the first month of 2015, how about I put up my word counts for 2014? lol I stopped putting up my monthly counts last year just because I was so sick at the beginning of the year, but I continued to keep track of what I was writing, if not weekly, at least throughout the month. So, here it all is!

Numbers under the cut! )

Just a few things to point out…

16 Fandoms written in.
3 New Fandoms this year - Agents of Shield, Power Pack Kids & Roller Team.
Top 3 Most Written in Fandoms were The Hobbit, The Avengers & CW RPS.
My Least Written in Fandom was Hawaii Five-O.
My Lowest Monthly Word Count was 0 words in April.
My Highest Monthly Word Count was 15,350 words in December.
Finished 2 major WIPs that had been languishing for more than a year - the Jeff/Jensen & Jared/Misha fics.
Wrote my first Tim/Raylan and Kirk/McCoy fics ever.
Wrote 4 Fic-For-Kids.
Completed 21 stories this year. 12 of those were done in December.
53,300 words written in 2014!!

Now, onto 2015, wherein I am determined to finish that fucking Sterek AU! And maybe write that Hunger Games Primrose fic I finally figured out an outline for.
dodger_sister: (writing)
I kept meaning to get this all written up, just some numbers on my word counts for 2013. I actually kept track throughout the year because the previous year, when I added it all up, I realized I was just 750 words short from hitting 100k and there was no way I was going to let that happen again. Especially this time when I added it up at the 6-month mark and realized I had 50k exactly, I had to go for the big goal and get it done.

Fandoms Written In For 2013 - 15; Avengers, Buffy&Angel, Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, CW RPS, The Hunger Games, Kitties!, Leverage, Lost Girl, Middle-Earth, Once Upon A Time, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Without A Trace & The X-Files.

New Fandoms Written In For 2013 - 6; Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, Kitties!, The Hobbit, Lost Girl, and Once Upon A Time.

The Fandoms I Wrote The Most In For 2013 -
Buffy&Angel: 9,250 words.

Highest Monthly Word Count - 14,000 words in July.

Random Things About My 2013 Writing Under The Cut. )

Total Yearly Word Count - 101,200 words written in 2013!!

My goals for 2014 are to finish all of the WIPS in my writing folder. I’m on a mission! I have already finished one this year. Most importantly is to get that freaking Derek/Stiles fic finished! I’m thinking Teen Wolf will probably be the front-runner of word counts again, just in finishing that one fic. But I wonder what new fandoms will strike my fancy during 2014. Anyways, that’s 2013...onto the next!
dodger_sister: (chuck shurley)
Well, I had bronchitis in December, so it’s no surprise that I churned out my entire word count in the last three days of the month. And, even medicated, that was no picnic. It’s either going to be the greatest PWP sexy times I have ever written or it is going to make absolutely no sense whatsoever. We shall see. Still though, I am happy to have put out any words at all these last few months. Plus, for the record, I worked really hard on The Nephew’s art project this month, even though that didn’t get finished either. Oh well, I still hit my mark!

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

December, 2013
Week One: 0 words.
Week Two: 0 words.
Week Three: 0 words.
Week Four: 0 words.
Week Four & 1/2: 4,050 words of Jeff/Jensen PWP.

4,050 words written in December!

So, clearly, I gave myself some leeway on being sick this month because I missed three entire weeks of writing in a row. It’s the first time I haven’t written at least 500 words in a week in almost two years. November also seems to be the lowest word count I have had since I started having weekly word goals back at the beginning of 2012. I was sad about it, even though I know some of my energy in November was spent on arting, so I was at least doing something with myself. Still, I buckled down at the end of the month and decided if I couldn’t meet the 1,000 words per week goal, I could at least meet the 4,000 words per month goal. Which I did. At the same time that I finished out two WIPS - (my first Criminal Minds fic in the bag!) - and worked some more on that Jeff/Jensen PWP that’s been sitting on my hard-drive forever. (It’s taken a weird turn from my original intention).

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

November, 2013
Week One: 0 words.
Week Two: 0 words.
Week Three: 0 words.
Week Four: 2,050 words of Danny/Martin fic. Completed.
800 words of Criminal Minds fic. Completed.
1,150 words of Jeff/Jensen PWP.

4,000 words written in November!

Two WIPs off the checklist! (I had left Danny & Martin smack-dab in the middle of sex for more than a year on that one, so I feel good finally giving them some closure). December and then done!

So I managed to watch the Tigers’ final game of the regular season against the Miami Marlins and I just wanted to say ‘hats off’ to the Marlins’ Henderson Alvarez for pitching a no-hitter in the game on Sunday. CONGRATS, ALVAREZ! It’s a rare thing, the no-hitter - only 3 pitched in the entirety of the MLB this season and only 6 in the history of the Marlins. It was kind of fun to watch actually and since we were already in the playoffs anyways, I found myself rooting for Alvarez to do it! It’s an exciting thing to see unfolding. On the downside, Justin Verlander still has not had a Major League hit. He is 0 for 26 now. It’s way past sad at this point. It’s actually the one thing I don’t like about the American League, is that our pitchers don’t bat, but I guess in Justin’s case it’s a good thing he only has to do it when we are playing in a National League park, because damn boy. PLAYOFFS START ON FRIDAY!!

And now…some fic recs:

Five Fic Recs under the cut. )

I’ve been sitting up doing actual things for an hour and a half now and I’m all sweaty and tired again and my sister says I look kind of pale. Humph. (It was probably actually geeking out over Agents Of Shield on the phone with The BFF that did me in). Whatever, I’m going back to the couch to watch Sleepy Hollow now (finally!).

The month of June’s word count - wherein half my words were dedicated to Teen Wolf! Also, I finished two WIPs - one of which has been sitting on my computer for like two years now! It was a very productive month, mostly I think because I decided to try this trial run thing of doing one writing-related activity everyday; be it writing or posting or editing. Even if it was only ten minutes, it was something, every day. It also helped me clear out my ‘written but not edited’ folder, so I have a line of things now that are ready to post. I think next month I should focus more on posting than anything else, just to get that folder cleared out!

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

June, 2013
Day One: 1,300 words of Avengers/OUaT fic. Completed. (already posted!)
Week One: 1,400 words of Christian/Jensen PWP. Completed.
1,200 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Two: 2,000 words of Danny/Stiles fic. Completed. (already posted!)
Week Three: 4,200 words of Teen Wolf Danny fic.
Week Four: 750 words of Teen Wolf Danny fic. Completed.

You guys! I know it is jinxing things or whatever to add up my word count thus far, but I did it anyways and…I am at 50,000 words for the year! That’s counting January thru June - literally exactly 50,000 words in six months! When my yearly goal is 100k, so I am perfectly on track so far! Awesome.

I clearly set out with goals in mind for the month of May, because look at all those completed fics! No WIPs finished out last month, but two awesome birthday stories and a Mother’s Day fic for my sister, which is all good in my book. (Though it reminds me that I still haven’t shared The Nephew’s birthday fic with you all - will get on that this next month, I swear!)

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

Uh. It seems I forgot to put this up last month. That explains why it was still listed in my ‘word-count’ document. Oops. So today I’ll do double-duty of April’s word count and then I’ll put up May’s as well. Writing has been going really well though, so I am happy! And hey, look, this is the month I wrote some Buffy fic!

Okay, so that moment when you hear a song - or more specifically a lyric within a song - and you go, “THAT. That’s it. That’s the tile for the fic I am working on.” And then you go to change the fic’s name…and you can’t remember what it was. Or what song you were listening to. Or even where you heard it. And then you have to retrace your steps just to try to figure out what you were doing when this epiphany happened. Yeah, that’s my life right now. And just having the title figured out got me so enthused about a fic that I have kind of let fall by the wayside and now I have lost it! /headdesk/ I am retracing my steps. I will find it! All is not lost.

So, I did a clean sweep of my Friend’s List; unfriended people who have no entries in their journals (oh the days when I just automatically friended anyone who friended me, without even looking at their ljs), unfriended a few people that I had friended for their fics who have moved onto other fandoms, and friended back a few people who had friended me but I was lazy and never got around to friending them.

Wow. I just used the word ‘friended’ a lot in that paragraph.

But mostly I left communities; most of the Glee ones because I’m basically done there, some newsletters because I’m not invested enough to really need daily updates, and several SPN/CW RPS comms because when I first got an LJ I joined a lot of those. I still belong to an abnormal number of them, but I’ve weeded it down a little.

LJ was pissing me off for a few days though, because it kept listing that I had still had posting access to those comms, even though I was no longer a member and I just...need my organization to be complete, not all messed up because LJ is being wonky! It seems to have corrected that issue now. Although I did belong to a comm that has been shut down now but it’s still listed on my profile with a line through it and yet, because it doesn’t exist, I can’t go unjoin, so I can’t get it off my page and...OMG, that one’s bugging me. I have these weird organizational things that you would not expect from me.

Also - does anyone know how to send PMs now? It seems to have disappeared from our profile pages. Or is it now called ‘Nudge’? Because that seems to be an option we have.

I have happier notes but I had to go to the doctor today and now I am all tired and sore, so maybe I’ll be back tomorrow - though tomorrow’s first priority is to clean out my inbox, so comments first, then posting, then writing. Bed now. Night all!

I started this year with 26 unfinished WIPs on my computer. That is 26, at least from the beginning of 2010, when I started really writing again. All I have worked on since the end of December are my WIPs - (I'll be interested to see what that number looks like by the end of the year). But I have finished two of them! My Dean/Cas PWP, which I have been picking away at 500 words at a time since November, is with the beta and my Johanna/Annie fic, which I started last summer and then let sit for like seven months, is at that final editing stage. I think I may reward myself by starting some new porn this week, maybe Teen Wolf or Justified, depending on my mood.

So I thought, to help myself along with the Finish All The WIPs Project, I'd make up a little meme. Steal away, if you like!

Write up the following for the works-in-progress you currently have; Working Title, Current Word Count, First and Last Sentences/Paragraphs thus far.

My WIPs Under The Cut. Beware The NC-17. )

I don't expect to have them all done by the end of the year, since I have many other ideas I want to work on, but half would be nice.

December brought the completion of my longest piece of fan-fiction to date - 25,630 words, final count. That’s almost 8,000 words more than my Fellowship Orgy fic, which was my previous longest fanfic. (I know, you are all thinking, ‘oh, how lovely, now tell us more about this orgy fic’ - I know you people!). After that I let myself just sort of tinker around a bit. I am working on a Dean/Cas hurt/comfort fic where Cas has the flu so badly that he has to go to the hospital and Dean is an anxious mess and it is as clichéd as it sounds and I love it. It was suppose to be about 3,000 words, but as per usual, it will be quite a bit longer. Once again, I broke 10k this last month!

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

December, 2012
Week One: 4,800 words of Secret Crossover fic.
Week Two: 3,900 words of Secret Crossover fic. Completed.
Week Three: 500 words of Dean/Cas Hurt/Comfort fic.
300 words of Supernatural Christmas Poem. Completed. (already posted!)
Week Four: 600 words of Dean/Cas Hurt/Comfort fic.

10,100 words written in December!

I think I am going to up my word count goals next year from 500 words a week to 1,000 words a week. I had a monthly total goal of 2,000 words a month and I always surpassed that, like always. But I didn’t always break 500 words a week, as you can see from above. Some weeks it just flows out of me and other weeks I am busy and exhausted or not feeling well and I make myself push out 500 words at the last second before I collapse again. So the 1,000 words a week is risky for those times that I am unwell, but I think I need to go for it, to push myself a little more than I did last year - which honestly, worked out so well and I am glad I set the goal.

So a friend of mine, [livejournal.com profile] denig37, is doing a SPN/J2 ‘Gives Me Hope’ Comment Fic Meme Thingy. I’ve never actually done a comment fic meme before (ikr?) and I haven’t written J2 in like forever, but I figured why not go check it out. So I went to the site it was based off of - little snippet stories of hope at GivesMeHope - and then I sobbed hysterically for ten minutes straight. (seriously, don’t go there if you are on your Awesome Time Of Month right now, okay). And then I went back later and cried some more and then finally, I looked at which prompts people had selected for the comment meme.

And then I did a fill. And then I did another fill.

Want to bet on how many more I will have done by the end of the week? This is not ‘working on The BFF’s fic’ like I’m suppose to be doing! Damn these awesome stories of hope and love!

Well, almost the end of this month, but let's do my word count for last month. Halfway through August I set a goal for 9,000 words in an attempt to finish four stories I was working on. I ended up hitting 10,700 words in those six weeks. I finished three of the four stories as well. I still have not finished The BFF's fic but I wrote three times as much on it in September as I did in August, so I'll take that. That fic is like, "Oh, it needs about 4,000 more words," and then I write another 1,000 words and I look at it and think, "Nope, it still needs 4,000 more words." It's like the nightmare about running down the hallway and you can see the end, but it just gets farther and farther away. But I'm still working on it and I'm still loving it, so that's all good. Anyways, I am very happy with how September's writing went as a whole.

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

September, 2012
Week One: 1,700 words of Spiderman & His Amazing Friends fic. Completed. (already posted!)
200 words of Angel/Supernatural Threesome fic.
Week Two: 3,000 words of Angel/Supernatural Threesome fic. Completed. (already posted!)
550 words of Random Dean/Cas AU.
Week Three: 1,100 words of Leverage fic. Completed.
850 words of Secret Crossover fic.
Week Four: 900 words of Secret Crossover fic.

8,300 words written in September!

October is going really well, writing-wise. I decided to write an Avengers Halloween story. As always happens with my fics, I planned on it being about 4,000 words and now I realize it will be closer to 8,000. Mostly I blame Darcy and Bruce for this and the fact that they just want to stand around being all cute together instead of letting me haunt the shit out of Darcy's dreams. I can't be too upset about it though because they are adorable. Hopefully, I'll actually get it finished in time to post for Halloween. I also have written more on The BFF's fic - I mentally divided it up into three sections in my head and I have finally reached Section Three. It's all coming along.

Last night’s Hawaii Five-O was like a fanfic come to life. Normally, with most shows, I would be like, “Are you seriously trolling fandom looking for ideas for your show?” but let’s face it, logic and realism are not things I look for on H5O. In fact, the more fanfic tropes they fit into an episode, the more I like it. Also, the more Kono kicks people in their faces, the more I like it. So last night’s episode was quite awesome, thank you very much.

In movie news - I recently watched Nanny McPhee and it was cute and fun. I have always liked Colin Firth and that adorable stuttering thing he does so well. Angela Lansbury was a riot as the great-aunt and I will watch anything Thomas Sangster does - that kid is a pro. I also have a soft spot for hordes of cute kids with British accents. The movie itself was fun and funny and had this great look to it where you could tell it was based on a children’s storybook. The coloring from the sets to the clothes all gave it this ‘book come to life’ feel. I watched some of the behind-the-scenes, and besides Colin Firth dressed up in the Nanny McPhee outfit (it was hysterical), I was also quite interested in the story of how the books came to be. The author, who was a crime novelist back in the 60s, her great-grandfather had a passel of children and to keep them in line, he made up stories about Nurse Matilda, who used magic to temper unruly children. The stories stuck with the children and they ended up telling it to their own kids and so forth. Until the author of the books and her children’s book illustrator cousin decided to immortalize them into a series of children's books - books which Emma Thompson was a fan of and thus turned into the screenplay, Nanny McPhee. It was quite interesting.

The movie though gave me several fanfic ideas.

*Castiel is a rich widower with several children. Dean is the groundskeeper. Sam is the tutor. Castiel and Dean fall madly in love.
*John is a widower. Dean is 18, Sam is 14 and Castiel is Sam’s 22 year old tutor. Dean and Castiel fall madly in love.
*Jensen is a rich widower with a bunch of children. Misha is the manny who tames them using magic. Jensen and Misha fall madly in love.

I’m sensing a theme here. Someone get on writing those for me immediately,. Thank you.

In final news, I just found out Misha & Vicki had a daughter a few weeks ago!! How come I didn’t know this? The internets has failed me! Well, it would help if I was paying attention to anything on the internets besides baseball standings but whatever. I am very happy for them!! They have an adorable family.

That is all.

So, it’s the 24th and I haven’t done this yet. It’s seems to be later and later each month. Oh well. Last month I wrote a lot of words but didn’t ‘complete’ very much. In fact, the only reason I even completed the one Leverage fic is because I cut it short. It was meant to be hand-jobs in a stairwell but they got to the kissing and they were all...Feelings & Emotions! I, of course, was all….No, Hand-Jobs, I say! They did not listen and on reread, I realized I had reached the end of the fic. So, no hand-jobs but yay one completed story! I also started my first ever NC-17 Without A Trace fic! I can’t believe, with how obsessive I was about the Danny/Martin pairing, that I never wrote any porn before.

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

August, 2012
Week 1/2: 500 words of Leverage fic.
Week One: 600 words of Secret Crossover fic.
Week Two: 2,350 words of Spiderman and His Amazing Friends fic.
Week Three: 900 words of Eliot/Hardison fic. Completed.
Week Four: 1,500 words of Danny/Martin PWP fic.

You may recall how I made a goal for myself halfway through last month to 'write 9,0000 words/complete four fics' by the end of September. After I set that goal, all I worked on was the Eliot/Hardison fic and the Danny/Martin fic - neither of which were on the list! I can say that I have done much better this month and have completed several of the stories and am going to surpass the '6 weeks/9,000 words' goal. Hell, at this rate I may surpass 9,000 words in the month of September alone. Also, I have an idea for a Teen Wolf/SPN story and I am ashamed of myself, but I can feel the urge to write it overcoming me. Don’t point your finger at me [livejournal.com profile] wolfrider89 - I know what I have become!

First things first - FIC REC!! You guys, you guys...The BFF finally posted the birthday fic she wrote me. I got to read it on my birthday but now you all can read it too. So like, if you were going to write the perfect AU/Fusion fic for me, what would it be?

FAME AU!! CW RPS!! HIGH SCHOOL AU!! And...and...JENSEN/MISHA!!! And Jared/Genevieve. And bonus douchebag!Chad (as in, you know, he's a douche but you love him in spite of yourself kind of way, which is my favorite kind of Chad). With a little bit of that teenage angst I love so much. I'M GONNA LIVE FOREVER! I'M GONNA LEARN HOW TO FLY! FAME!!

It's a high school with actors, dancers, singers and Jensen/Misha!!!! Look at the things my girl does for me! This is only the first part but it has a nice end note feeling in the last line, so you can read it now. In fact, you should. You should all go read it and leave her lots of comments. REMEMBER MY NAME! FAME!!! One With The Sun.

Also, she decided to go ahead and post it because we just heard that Nigel Lythgoe will be producing a remake of the original TV series, Fame. I am divided on this because it is a scripted show which is not Nigel's usual thing but then again, it is Nigel so the network will let him do whatever he wants and give him tons of money for it. It will either suck or be awesome, but either way, I will watch it!

In my own writing news...I had that really frustrating thing happen the other day where I had an idea for a story - (let's say dirty sweaty adrenaline fueled handjobs in a stairwell) - and that was the whole point of the story. I figure 500 words or so to get through the intro and then...Handjobs! Except when I write it, it doesn't go that way. Instead I write 800 words, get to the kissing and think, 'Oh, that's a good place to stop for the night.' Only when I read through it the next day, it seems like a good place to stop, period. The last line I typed feels very complete. Except, I wanted dirty sexy handjobs! They weren't suppose to have Feelings and Realizations. They were just suppose to take their dicks out! Dammit. Now I don't know whether or not to end it on the kissing or to keep going. On one hand, I didn't complete a story last month so if I say it is finished, then I can check off one of my to-do-list. But then I won't get handjobs!! Dilemmas!

In Real Life news...my dad's surgery is tomorrow. I did get a chance to go see him at the hospital this weekend and we had a nice visit. My little brother is downstairs sleeping in the guestroom right now so he and my sister can head up there at 5 in the morning. Thank you for all the well-wishes - you guys are the best!
