3 Weeks to Chicago Con!!!! Whoot!!!!

I have very little to say on the matter, except...omgomgomgomg!
No, really, I have all of this to say - OMG, what should I do with my hair? What should I wear? Which photo ops should I get? Should I even get any other photo ops? (I've already got a Jared/Misha, do I need anything else really?)
I've been to SPN Conventions before, but this time I'm taking The Cousin. She's 15 and has been watching SPN for about a year. She's never done anything like this, ever. She is both extremely nervous and extremely excited.
So, she's pretty much right where I'm at on the whole thing too.
On the up, today her dad (my first cousin) said she's good to miss a day of school, which means we'll be leaving on Thursday night and heading to Chicago. My sister and The BFF will be driving with us to visit our friend
hiyacynth, while The Cousin and I are at CHICAGO CON!!! <--that felt like it needed to be in capital letters, with some exclamation points.
Anyway - um, anybody else going? I think we're bringing SPN Life the board game. It's fun. We could probably arrange some game time in our room on Saturday evening.
Lastly, if you are going, see that Creation Entertainment is helping some wonderful fangirls do some good. Food Drive for a Chicago Shelter, here are the links I have on that -
What I got through Matt Cohen's Twitter (that I swear I am not reading, I swear, I don't even have Twitter!) - here
What I got through following some chatter on a fandom friend's LJ - here
That is all.

Date: 2010-09-16 04:26 am (UTC)Well, you know what I look like, I'm not hard to find (well, I am, cuz I'm so tiny, but you know what I mean). So holler out if you see me around.
3 WEEKS!

Date: 2010-09-16 11:17 am (UTC)I too am in the OMG OMG OMG OMG phase of this con! Three weeks! This is my first ever Supernatural con but about my 30th Con all together.
I decided to go all out for my Friday photo op with Richard. Plus I'm proving a point. So if you see a chick completely decked out in Gothic Lolita with a pink frilly dress. That's me ;)

Date: 2010-09-20 05:57 am (UTC)I actually stumbled across your link because I'm friends with
I will keep an eye out for your costume! I am easy to spot in a crowd (except for the whole being so short thing, which does make me hard to see around everyone else). I am blonde, five foot tall and depending on the layout of the hotel, will either be using my walker or my wheelchair. I'll also have a teenage girl attached to my side. So, if you see me, holler out!
Which leads me to my last comment - how are you doing on volunteers and what would that entail? I can't lift boxes or anything like that, but if it is mostly just taking stuff from people, I would like to help. I'm not sure what photo ops we will end up getting once we pool our money together, except that we are doing the Sunday photo ops for sure because I already bought them. But at any rate, we will be towards the front of the lines, so if you are busy waiting in line (with your very interesting costume that you will have to explain to me if we run into each other there, lol) then that might be a time when you need some extra help.
Let me know. Otherwise, maybe I'll see you there. :)

Date: 2010-09-20 06:03 am (UTC)We really just need people to help us watch the table. Pretty much just be there for when people are donating items. Are you going to be at the con all three days or just 1? Some people are only going on Sunday and they are the ones volunteering to help. LOL we'd love to have you at the table on Friday or Saturday for an hour or even 30 minutes.
2 weeks and 4 days left to go!

Date: 2010-09-20 06:42 am (UTC)That's a bummer. The layout last year was enough that I probably could have just used my walker. Except I wasn't doing that great last year. I'm doing better this year and I was hoping not to have to use the wheelchair (it makes me so far below everyone else's eye level, you know.)
The wheelchair/walker is actually how I get to the front of the line. I used to be embarrased about it. But once I embraced it, it was kind of like, "Hey, I wake up in pain everyday, why not reap the benefit?" It also gets Misha to be inappropriately grabby, so I'll take it, lol.
We are going all three days. We will arrive late on Thursday, probably around 11pm. And we have to be on the road on Sunday around 4pm. But yeah, if it is mostly just sitting at the table, and if there is anything else, well - The Cousin will be with me. She's young and full of energy. ;)
You can slot me in for one of those days, definitely. I wish they would post the schedule sooner than they do - it's frustrating trying to make social plans with people (and some people I'm trying to make plans with aren't at the convention, they are just friends who live in Chicago) when I don't know what the con schedule is. With you trying to set up a volunteer schedule, it must be especially frustrating for you. ;) How short-staffed are you? If you need, we can probably do twice. Let me know.

Date: 2010-09-20 06:52 am (UTC)I'm arriving Thursday too, but earlier in the day. I've been invited to share a room with 3 other girls I met online so that's nice because otherwise I'm not sure where I'd be staying lol
It's very frustrating people who don't understand how donation drives work keep asking me 'when will we be sitting the table' and as of now I have no clue.... at all LOL
We're extremely short-staffed. Would you be able to do an hour on Friday and an hour on Saturday? I will try and work around anything you really want to do (I'm getting a photo op with Richard and am GEEKING out about it lol)
If you could private message me your name, email, and if you have a phone with txt your # I think that will be the easiest ways to contact people. Especially since as of now I have no idea how many days in advance Creation will post the schedule

Date: 2010-09-21 04:03 am (UTC)I'll be going to the Supernatural convention in Chicago. This is my first convention of any type ever. I'm very excited and have no idea what to expect. Are you interested in meeting up at any point?
BTW, I'm the commenter who really liked your Glee-supernatural crossover fic.

Date: 2010-09-21 04:32 am (UTC)Yes, meeting up would be cool. I'm not sure what my schedule will be, for various reasons - 1) The convention doesn't put their schedule up until just before the con - 2) I may be meeting up with some friends from Chicago, if I can arrange it - and 3) The Food Drive is sorely under-staffed, so I volunteered to help them a little bit on Friday and a little bit on Saturday.
Mostly, I just wish the convention would put their schedule up sooner, so I could get all of these things sorted out.
Well, I'm easy to spot. I'm five foot tall, blonde and either will be using a walker or a wheelchair, and will have a teenage girl with me (<--The Cousin, it's her first convention ever too!)
Are you going with anyone?
