I'm feeling better today! Mostly because it finally stormed and dropped the temperature like 15 degrees, so I got to go outside at last!

Also, I went to a graduation party for The Cousin - who was the kid I was introducing SPN to when I first got this LJ. I am so proud of the woman she's grown into! She had a scrapbook out at the party and one whole page was dedicated to her step-dad - (my cousin). This guy could fit right in on Duck Dynasty - to give you an idea of him. She was eleven when he got together with her mom and now both she and her sister call my cousin 'Dad'. He is their dad, all the way - their biological dad being in and out of their lives and the two of them having to look out for each other because their mom sadly suffers from serious depression - she loves them and she tries, but it is so lucky for both the girls and for my cousin that they all found each other. The write-up in her book said, "Some people say there are no such things as heroes. But they've never met my dad." It legit made me tear up. If you had told me ten years ago that my lifetime bachelor cousin would raise two beautiful daughters like this, I never would have believed you. It's a beautiful thing.

But mostly my mood is better because The BFF is here for the weekend! It’s the first time I’ve gotten to see her since the 4th of July! /grabs bff and clutches her to my bosom/

Anyways, so, sometimes when I am reading on my IPad in bed, I leave the TV on in the background on mute so that when I turn the IPad off, I can see to get out of bed. Last night I forgot the TV was on and when I flipped my IPad shut, there was Jared Padalecki’s face staring at me. For a minute, all my brain could think was, “Why is Jared Padalecki in my room staring at me?!” Then my brain clicked in and I realized what had happened - I had left the TV on and it was running Entertainment Tonight, which was apparently doing their ‘celebrity birthdays’ section. It freaked me out for a second though!

In conclusion: I saw Pacific Rim! The robot/alien fight scenes went on a bit long for my liking, but who cares because awesome characters are AWESOME! Badass smart capable female, rivers of angst and pain, incestuous gay brothers, daddy issues out the ass, tech guys brotp-ing it up with their soldiers, a dog, and best of all…adorable, hysterical awesome science!nerds being the biggest bamfs ever! Science FTW!

Well, halfway through the month and I finally get around to posting this. My word count for last month! The lowest yet this year, but still more than double my ‘500 words a week’ goal - considering I had The Tilting Virus all month, I am quite happy with this.

A few new things this month - I started the month with the urge to write porn. When I think porn, I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan. So I tried for a pairing I had never done before and went JDM/Jensen. Though, of course, I wrote 750 words and still haven’t gotten to the actual porn yet. /shakes head/ Then I also started my first Leverage fic ever, thanks to mid-afternoon reruns on TNT. But mostly, March was about The Hunger Games.

[livejournal.com profile] lizibabes was encouraging me to write a threesome in this fandom and I told her, “Well, I already wrote my gen fic and then I have to finish my Gale/Finnick fic and then I want to start my Johanna/Annie fic and after that I have an idea for a Gale/Peeta fic and then I’ll write a threesome. Oh…huh. I guess it is official - I have a new fandom!”

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

March, 2012
Week 1/2: 750 words of JDM/Jensen PWP.
Week One: 1,200 words of Hunger Games Gen fic. Completed.
Week Two: 700 words of Leverage AU.
Week Three: 1,000 words of Gale/Finnick fic.
Week Four: 1,550 words of Johanna/Annie fic.

5,200 words written in March!

Fics posted in March, 2011. )

Not as many fics completed in March as usual, but I am working on them this month. I am wicked excited to be trying out two new fandoms! I have lots of ideas for The Hunger Games and Leverage. So far this month I have finished the Gale/Finnick fic and written some more Without A Trace. I also have some LJ-peeps celebrating birthdays soon, so I hope to write some fics for them before the end of the month.

It's The Cousin's Birthday! She's sixteen today - SIXTEEN, you guys! I don't even know how that happened. Hopefully this thing called a driver's license will mean we get to see more of her. I honestly can't believe what a tremendous person she is and how much better my life is for having her in the family.

I wrote her a fic for Christmas and printed it out for her, but never posted it here. So I guess today is a good day to share it with all of you. I figured, I've written her some humorous SPN fic and some John angst and that 'Dean writes Glee fanfic' story - now it's time for some J2! Her first J2! This is not the first J2 I have ever written, but it is the first I have ever posted - so off to make a Jared/Jensen tag - yay! (I know, I'm a little behind on this fad).

Dinner Plans - 5 jobs Jared & Jensen never had, 1 job they do have, 6 times Jared asked Jensen to dinner - with some awesome guest cameos - and occasionally the boys in uniforms. 5x, AU, Romance, PG-13 and 3,798 words.

You two should just go make-out in the principal’s office or something. Instead of sickening us every morning by making googly eyes at each other and then not doing anything about your big stupid crush. )
dodger_sister: (christian-blueshirt-anyothergirl)
I know, you are thinking - "Wait, Dodger. Don't you mean Christmas morning is magical?"

No. No, I don't.

Because when you wake up on Thanksgiving morning and come out of your room...and there is Christian Kane on your TV playing the guitar - it is a magical day.

He even had his 5 X Everything hair! )

In family news... )

I was exhausted by the time it was over, but it went pretty well.

Hope your weeks were all awesome.
dodger_sister: (brittany-glowing-morethenitsees)
First, I hate when I click "post" and then remember I didn't "tag" to a community. I always do it at one community every time I cross-post a fic. At least this time it was a moderated comm and it didn't just post straight through. /sigh/

Anyhoo...I have brief comments on Shows that I haven't had time to express yet.

Glee, Duets...or why I love Brittany so freaking much. )

Supernatural, 6.03, because CAS IS BACK!! )

In Sum: Hawaii Five-O is getting better. I could still do without Alex whatever his name is in that lead role, but it is hard to stay chemistry-less when acting next to my boy, Caan. And some of the looks Steve gives Danny are so "fuck me now", it's awesome. Plus, they are giving Daniel and Grace's characters some in-depth storylines, so I'm sticking with it.

Nikita is not as good as I expected, but I'm hanging in there because, hi Aaron Stanford, (who looks like he's had his nose broken a few times since I saw him last), and holy shit can Shane West wear a mother-fucking suit. Hi, Shane, you grew up nice since from when you were on that show with Billy Campbell.

I still am ridiculously excited about Hellcats. Idek why, but I love it and rush to watch my episodes every week. It's fun. You got a problem with me watching a teen drama about cheerleaders on The CW? Thought not.

It's tough, the things I ask of you...to take time out of your busy schedules and look at these pretty pictures of Brock Kelly and Matt Cohen.

How could I ask such a thing of you?

So [livejournal.com profile] heavenreturned asked me if I was getting excited about convention.

Isn't that a silly question?

HELL TO THE YES!

I keep having convention dreams. )

Also, what does my family think goes on at one of these things? )

Now the good stuff...I made autograph pictures. I like to bring something a little original. (Ever since the first time I got an autograph in person when I had a wallpaper printed out that I made of Frodo and Sam and Sean Astin said, "Where did you get this? It's cool." I was all, "I made it." And he goes, "You made it? Wow. That's awesome." Which was awesome.)

So I made quite a few, I maybe got a little carried away. But I have decided what to print for each person...except Brock Kelly and Matt Cohen. I can't decide. I've gotten a few opinions, now I want yours.

So, here, look at my options and tell me which you like best. Colin Ford is NOT going to be there, but I am always prepared for the future, and I love the Little Winchester Brothers. But then I realized the odds of me ever getting Colin's autograph is like 100 to 1, so that seems silly, even though the pictures look really awesome.

Um, here...PRETTY! )

Thanks, Peoples!

(Also, if you are going to Chicago Con, don't forget to bring something for the food drive! Thanks!)
dodger_sister: (dean winchester)
"Does that say Dean Writes Glee Fan-Fic?" you ask. "Why are you using a Glee icon for a Supernatural story?" you ask.

Yes and that's why.

Um, Dean needs a release from that whole Apocalypse thing. He discovers Glee. And the Internets. And Glee on the Internets.

Dudes! I broke 6,000 words!!
Also, as I was coding this (it took forever, omg!) I noticed that Dean signs his LJ posts with "That is all." Hey! I do that too! Except, weirdly, I wrote this fic before I had ever even had a Livejournal. Huh.

In celebration of both Glee and Supernatural returning to our TVs next week - I give you "United Here, Somehow".

Header Info )

Okay, so it’s not like Dean was waiting all summer with bated breath for the premiere of “Glee”. But sometime toward the end of the summer, he saw his first promo pop up when he turned on his laptop to look at porn. )
dodger_sister: (dorkusdefined-smut_slut)
I have very little to say on the matter, except...omgomgomgomg!

No, really, I have all of this to say - OMG, what should I do with my hair? What should I wear? Which photo ops should I get? Should I even get any other photo ops? (I've already got a Jared/Misha, do I need anything else really?)

I've been to SPN Conventions before, but this time I'm taking The Cousin. She's 15 and has been watching SPN for about a year. She's never done anything like this, ever. She is both extremely nervous and extremely excited.

So, she's pretty much right where I'm at on the whole thing too.

On the up, today her dad (my first cousin) said she's good to miss a day of school, which means we'll be leaving on Thursday night and heading to Chicago. My sister and The BFF will be driving with us to visit our friend [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth, while The Cousin and I are at CHICAGO CON!!! <--that felt like it needed to be in capital letters, with some exclamation points.

Anyway - um, anybody else going? I think we're bringing SPN Life the board game. It's fun. We could probably arrange some game time in our room on Saturday evening.

Lastly, if you are going, see that Creation Entertainment is helping some wonderful fangirls do some good. Food Drive for a Chicago Shelter, here are the links I have on that -

What I got through Matt Cohen's Twitter (that I swear I am not reading, I swear, I don't even have Twitter!) - here

What I got through following some chatter on a fandom friend's LJ - here

That is all.

3 WEEKS!!!!!!

So, The Cousin was over again last night. At one point, she randomly turns to me and says -

TC: So, if you could do whatever you wanted in The Impala for 25 minutes OR kiss Dean, which would you choose?

ME: Um, can I kiss Dean IN The Impala?

TC: No.

TC's Sister: Kiss Dean, because that often leads to other fun stuff in The Impala.

TC: No, it won't.

ME: It might.

TC: No, you have to choose one or the other.

TC's Sister: That's not fair! How come? Dean likes to kiss in The Impala!

TC: Because it's my game and I make the rules. You get 25 minutes in The Impala or you get to kiss Dean. There is no combining them. It's just A or B.

TC's Sister: That's stupid.

ME: Anything I want? I can turn on the radio?

TC: Yes.

ME: Can I drive The Impala?

TC: Yes. Anything you want. 25 minutes.

TC's Sister: The car.

ME: Yeah, the car.

TC: Over kissing Dean?

ME & TC's Sister: Yes.

End of discussion. Until I got up this morning and said -

ME: Question. Just one kiss?

TC: Huh?

ME: With Dean. Just one kiss? Will there be tongue action? Do I get to make-out with him?

TC: Oh. Yes, tongue. Make-out? Sure, okay.

ME: For 25 minutes?

TC: No. You get the car for 25 minutes, anything you want. You get Dean for...5 minutes, making out is allowed.

ME: I have to think about that.

TC's Sister: Still the car.

ME: Yeah, still the car.

So, LJ Friends - what would YOU do?

(Look at my icon - what would you do? This is the most unfair question ever! I'm telling you - The Cousin is evil. What kind of a question is that? It's like she wants to make my head explode!)

So, [livejournal.com profile] oselle made a post a little while ago about Fandom. It was about how, during the season, she bitches a lot about Show but then as soon as it is summer hiatus, she's all nostalgic and stuff. (Much like a relationship, in the thick we can get annoyed by every little thing, but then the person goes away for a bit and suddenly all we remember are the good things.) Then she talks about all the great things that have come out of having a Fandom, that go beyond just watching the show for an hour every week. There was some talk about her days in Lord of the Rings (which is where she and I met).

It was well-spoken and beautiful and inspiring. You can read it here. [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr made a list of her favorite Supernatural moments that she shared with [livejournal.com profile] oselle in the comment section. I thought how lucky I am to have been there for even a few of the things she listed, because let's face it, the world is bright and shiny when those two get together, and I bitch at them about their ridiculousness sometimes, but I love it.

Anyway, it inspired me to write a letter to The Cousin. She's fifteen and just discovered Supernatural and Fandom at large. I was thinking back on all the good things I got from Lord of the Rings (which was my first real fandom, the first time I had the internet and realized there was name for those stories I was writing in my notebooks all my life). Mostly I got my favorite girls in the world from Fandom, but I got so much more than that. Honestly, I am a different person. I have confidence and a voice that I never had before these people came into my life. Even through the internet, I have found a way to express myself that I so desperately needed. I can't ever tell my girls exactly how much better my life is because of them. It just is.

And I want all of those things for The Cousin. I hope someday, when she's moved onto to her third or fourth fandom, she can look back on Supernatural days and feel this way too.

Cousin, oh, mine )

And all of that talk, inspired me to tell my girls how much I love them.

I wax on under the cuts.

I think I'm all done being nostalgic and emotional and squishy for the day. I've had a huge year already and I felt like there were things I needed to say to the people I love. And honestly, I couldn't have made it through this year without Fandom at my back. So I guess, whoever it is appriopriate to thank for that - thank you.
