Trick Or Treats Come Only Once A Year.
Oct. 24th, 2011 10:23 pmSo, when we lived in an apartment, we never did anything for Halloween (except watch scary movies). Now that we live in a house, we go all out. The first year we started with a few tombstones and the giant spider. Every year we try to add a few more tombstones and some larger item. This year we added the bat. It is way bigger than an actual bat but still looks very realistic. It actually creeps me out quite a bit. When we got it home, we realized that it lights up and screeches as well. The neighbor kids are prone to daring each other to sneak up and touch something in the yard and then run away - I hope the bat "wakes up" on them and makes them crap their pants!
Anyways, I thought I would share some pictures.
Yep, this is my house.

The zombie infestation in this neighborhood is a real problem.

My sister convinced the two little 5yr old girls down the street that this spider comes to life at night. One of them turned to her sister and said, "I told you I saw it move!"

Both of the zombies light up at night.

Creepy bat.

The witch on our front door. She screams "Happy Halloween" and then evil-cackles. Last year The Nephew was terrified of her. He would call and say, "I am almost at your house. Can you make sure the witch is asleep?" This year he told us, "I'm not gonna be scared of the witch this year, cuz I'm five now."

Some shots at night. We leave it on for about 3 1/2 hours each night.

Yes, it is a pirate zombie. And yes, that is its beating heart you see there.

Other zombie.

Creepy bat again.

And this is inside the house, on the mantle (under the TV, over the fireplace, where we keep the tiki glasses).

These are the zombies.

These are the B-movie actors they are trying to eat. That is actually what the figures were labeled as - "B Movie Actors". (I got them at the same place I got my cousin his Monty Python pig & cow catapult).

My sister also takes down our usual art work/photos in the living room and replaces them with creepy old fashioned gothic pictures.
Yeah, we really enjoy Halloween around here. I don't know what scary movies we will select for this year, but we tend to turn on something we have seen a thousand times while we pass out candy. I feel like watching some H2O this year maybe.

Date: 2011-10-26 08:29 pm (UTC)It's the only time of year we don't chase the damn neighbor kids out of the yard. I love watching them dare each other from across the street and then one of them runs up and touches something and they all run away screeching. ;)

Date: 2011-10-26 08:33 pm (UTC)hahaha I know, all those zombies in the yard keep scaring off visitors - I don't know why!
The spider may be alive, possibly. Also, last year we had an actual huge-ass spider make itself at home in the fake giant spider web, so that was kind of creepy - like our giant spider was having babies or something.
We are slowly convincing the neighborhood kids that we are witches. 8)

Date: 2011-10-26 08:38 pm (UTC)will convince the non-believers among the neighborhood children that you and your sister really are witches. *g*
hahaha I forgot I told you that. Yeah, this is the only time of year I don't chase them out of the yard with my broomstick!
It's been windy here too - we lost the tombstones for a few days (found them in the bushes around the corner). Little Old Lady Neighbor came by when my sis was putting them back up and said, "Oh, the wind must have knocked them down. I went home the other day and told my husband that some terrible person had stolen all the gravestones!"

hahaha Omg, that's what my dad said too! One of them is a dog though and we all know those bad horror movies have to have a dog.
