This Little Green One Here Seems To Need A Home.

I can't believe I don't have a holiday icon from "A Charlie Brown's Christmas". I do now! Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] matchboximpala!!!

Anyways...my mom came over and made a fuss about the Christmas tree. She asked about a bunch of different ornaments and I realized that almost all the ornaments have a story behind them - not usually anything big, just sometimes, "Oh, that was a gift from so-and-so," but it's nice. Quite a few of them we have had since childhood even.

Then The Nephew was here - (we finally did our stocking shopping, spent a ridiculous amount on the cats but because we did my sister's stuff at the dollar store, we managed to stay in my budget!) - and he goes, "Hey, you have a pink dinosaur on your tree! Do you have a Mickey Mouse?" and we spent some time looking at the ornaments together. He was going through each one, "You have an elephant and a snowman and a..." and then he kind of stopped because he didn't know what to make of the paper-angel with Castiel’s face on it. (don't worry, I'll put it under the cut for you to see).

Then [livejournal.com profile] ceitfianna was here and she pointed out my My Little Pony ornament, which I love.

My sister is happy. People noticed her tree at last. I was saying at therapy how no one noticed her tree and then suddenly, from all the way across the clinic, I hear Kevin yelling, “I did! I noticed it! It was lovely. Tell your sister it was lovely!”.

In light of this, let me share with you some pictures of my tree and perhaps a few of some of my more ridiculous ornaments.

My sister made a bunch of these. Cas, Anna, Zachariah with reversible lion face and Angel the Vampire. We have Cas and Angel on our tree.

Cuz we're just that cool.

Come on, you know you want to upload a picture of your most ridiculous holiday ornament!!!

Family party this weekend and I have to finish The Nephew's Christmas present. Have a good weekend!

LOL, Cas and Angel angel ornaments! I love how David Boreanaz looks slightly irritated.

They are awesome, aren't they? My sister is genius. I know, Angel is so put-out over his loss of diginity at being hung on someone's Christmas tree. The Little Girl Cousin was here this weekend (she's seven and her mom is a big SPN fan) and she saw Cas on the tree and was so excited. More excited than when she saw the My Little Pony ornament. lol

I still have some tampon angels that I made in college but I don't have anything to hang them on yet. Next holiday season, I'm buying a little ornament tree.

[identity profile] dodger-sister.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg, tampons would make very good angels I think but how hysterical that you ever thought of that. We have shotgun-shell lights on our back porch and my cousin was joking about how we must have ones made of tampons hanging in the bathroom. All I could think about when he said that was your angel-tampons. lol

They do and I didn't think of it, some friends in college did and we had a party where we all made them.

I saw you replied to this and I thought, "How is she responding to this right now? Shouldn't she be in the car on the road?" I am guessing you have stopped for the night already and are somewhere near The Land Of Hell (that's Ohio, if you didn't know). Or were you leaving tomorrow? The days all run together for me - it happens when you are unemployed.

I"m through Ohio and actually in the middle of Pennsylvania so more than halfway there. I was lucky and found a nice motel where there was a free dinner and I have wifi.

*hugs* I know that feeling of time getting out of joint. It's weird for me to not mark my days by classes and assignments but instead by shifts.

I have a blown glass (maybe it's not blown --heh, blown-- you know, that really fragile brightly colored molded shape style of ornament?-- rubber duckie. And some really fat Christmas cats. If my camera were working (grr) I'd take some shots this afternoon after work, but... it's not.

I love the tree! Ours is too tall this year for my stained glass light up star, which makes me a little sad.

[identity profile] dodger-sister.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
heehee blown. Rubber duckie - that's awesome! I have a friend who has a little rubber duck collection, she'd love that.

You don't have a camera phone even? I'd love to see the ornaments. (I say this when I myself don't have a camera or a camera phone - damn lack of money).

When we were kids we used to have enormous fights over what went on the top of the tree. My mom always wanted the old fashioned Santa. My sister always wanted the angel. I always wanted the light-up flashing star. Which I just relaized tells you a lot about our personalities. lol

Thank you. And hey, at least that means you have an awesomely tall tree.

I do have a camera in my phone, but it's very poor quality, plus, I don't know how to move photos from it to the 'net and thus to you.

Ha ha, you could be right about the tree toppers - I don't really remember what ours were. I have a vague idea that there may have been an angel at some point. But I really like the star, and am sad we couldn't use it this year. (It doesn't flash; it just glows.)

That's a fun tree!

[identity profile] dodger-sister.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! There is a Frodo ornament on there somewhere that my sister bought me too.

Awesome tree! lol the elephant :)
Our tree used to look like that but a few years ago my mum got very strict about it and wanting it to be fashionable or whatever. Each year she picks a colour theme; this year is blue and silver, which looks great, but personally, when I'm in charge of decorating the tree, I kind of lose it and get a little crazy; I'm just like "hang ALLLL the decorations!!!! XDXDXDXDXD *crazy laughter*
So instead I just hang all the old awesome rejected decorations in my room and anywhere else I can lol. I'll have to take a picture for you when I can.

[identity profile] dodger-sister.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
My older brother does that too - he just uses white lights and tinsel and then those colored balls that all look the same - so, like your mom, it looks all fashionable or classy or whatever. My mom was laughing about how disorganized his tree will become once his kids start making school projects for the tree.

My mom used to have so many ornaments when we lived together (when I was like 20) that if I wanted any of my own ornaments I had to hang them in my room also. I got a mini table-top tree and just hung my favorites in there.

Yes, PICTURES!! I love holiday pictures.

[identity profile] flawed-x-design.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I got a mini table-top tree and just hung my favorites in there. That sounds perfect! Because we went away this year, the house/tree wasn't as decorated as it usually is. Usually I just found random places to hang/place the decorations in my room. (any appropriate surface for a tree, like my desk, tends to be too messy sooner or later) Especially if they were presents from someone. Like, I had teachers who would give the class a bauble with our names and class name on it and if they didn't exactly work with the tree, I'd just hand them in my room.

Once I get my camera fixed, I'll post them up :)

[identity profile] dodger-sister.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
This year The Nephew made his own decorations for everyone. He decorated little silver balls with glitter and the person's name. My dad never does a tree or decorations at his house but he wanted to do something with it - his grandson made it for him after all. So my brother hangs it off the deer antlers in my dad's living room.

And now we have all decided that next year we are going to band together to buy my dad some ridiculous Christmas decorations for him to hang off the two deer antlers he has up in the house.

So if your mom still doens't want to let you go crazy on the tree next year - you could always get deer antlers and hang stuff on them. lol

[identity profile] flawed-x-design.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That is so cute!

you could always get deer antlers and hang stuff on them
hahaha, noted. I may have to steal them from a themed restaurant or something though, because where would I even buy that? haha

[identity profile] flawed-x-design.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wait, online *facepalm* lol
If it has instructions to pterodactyl sex, it definitely has antlers.

[identity profile] dodger-sister.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
If it has instructions to pterodactyl sex, it definitely has antlers.

LOL Yeah. My dad actually killed the deers for which he has the antlers, but I'm sure you could get some online - you can get everything online.

Now that I think of it, I think one is a set of deer antlers and the other is a set of elk antlers. Yep, my family is full of farmers and they kill things.

[identity profile] flawed-x-design.livejournal.com 2012-01-09 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
you can get everything online
My brother got a raptor claw for his bday last year (he's the biggest Jurassic park fan ever) so this is true.

Yep, my family is full of farmers and they kill things. Haha that's cool. For the most part, my family tend to grow things, but my dad has definitely shot his fair share of birds and things, back in the day (even a hyena once).

Also, my laptop broke the other day (so much angst omg) so I can't yet properly reply to the twink war we had going on. But I will. Just you wait.

Awesome!! Yeah, I am a huge giant Jurassic Park nerd. It's my most watched movie ever. (see my icon? I love Dr. Malcolm so hard).

For the most part, my family tend to grow things, but my dad has definitely shot his fair share of birds and things, back in the day (even a hyena once).

Well, we grow things too (corn and soy beans) but then the deer come and try to eat what we have grown, so we have to kill the deer. (I say we even though I've never shot anything in my life).

Your dad shot a hyena?! Like on a hunting expedition?

Also, my laptop broke the other day (so much angst omg) so I can't yet properly reply to the twink war we had going on. But I will. Just you wait.

Boo broken laptop! I hope it doesn't run you too expensive to fix. hahaha, omg the twink war - I had forgotten! Okay, I'll wait for your response then. lol

Merry Christmas to you! Can't send you any crazy ornament pictures of my own because I always go away for the holidays to visit my family and it isn't worth putting up a tree (and then worrying about it trying out and spontaneously combusting while I am away). But I did buy this monstrosity for my friend, Carolyn, who collects glass ornaments:

Happy holidays!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

I was in the play of A Charlie Brown's Christmas as Lucy and I have the whole damn show memorized and I couldn't believe I didn't have an icon!

Omg, that dog ornament. I get creeped out by things with abnormally large heads. lol

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU TOO!!

[identity profile] wolfrider89.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I LIKE! Love the tree, it looks awesome. :D And you have CAS in your tree! I need to tell the roommate this, we should have a Cas in our tree too!

[identity profile] dodger-sister.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
THANKS!! We do have Cas on our tree - Christmas trees, it's where any good angel belongs!

Here is the link from my sister's journal where she posted the angel ornaments. They are pretty easy to make. Fallen Angel Ornament Collection (http://baylorsr.livejournal.com/386945.html). You take pictures if you make your own, k?

Your roommate seems like the kind of cool guy who would be down with having these ridiculous angels on the tree.

[identity profile] wolfrider89.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, awesome post is awesome. :D And I promise to take a picture if we make them!

My roommate is all kinds of awesome. For one, he's just as geeky as me, so I don't have to worry about him not getting the reference. (Except when I talk about comics. And certain movies. But nobody's perfect, right? :P)

Now I wanna make angels!
