My sister is sick with the sinus/cough/fever thing. She is the last in the house to have it. First The BFF had it really nasty and then I had it less so and now my sister has it somewhere in between our levels of severity. Still, she insists she will go to work in the morning. I'm betting she won't. This did mean that we caught up on all the TV this weekend though. I myself am still kind of gross and I can't stop sneezing, but definitely better than I was last weekend.

Anyways, I have lots of things to tell you guys, as this weekend was very busy. But it's late and I'm tired, so let me just tell you about the dream I had a couple of nights ago, before I forget it.

So my dream was set in a futuristic world where everyone was starving to death. In it, a teenage Joshua Jackson and a teenage Elijah Wood lived together in this shoebox of an apartment (it all looked very Terra Nova the pilot episode). They decide they are going to volunteer for The Gladiator Games. If you win The Games, the government takes care of you for life. But even if you die, your family gets death benefits from the government. So they go down to see the doctor for their medical exam (yes, in my dream Josh and Elijah were having medical exams, in the same room as each other even) so that they can be deemed worthy of volunteering.

The doctors were telling them all the things they would have to do in The Games; fight large groups of gladiators, fight giant troll guys, get chained up and escape from said chains before a lion eats their faces. For one of the medical procedures, they strapped Elijah down to a gurney and he had this major panic attack and said he couldn't do it. He realized he would never survive the round with the chains and the lions if he gets that freaked about being tied down (yes, this is my brain).

He is freaking out and he tells Josh that he can't do it. Josh is really upset and he tells Elijah that he has too, that Josh's family is starving and even if he dies, he has to do this. Elijah gets all upset and runs out of the doctor's office. Josh goes to say goodbye to his family. He tells them that now they will all be taken care of and even if he dies, it'll be worth it. Then he begs them to make sure that Elijah is taken care of too.

Josh: I should have married him when I had the chance.
Family Member: You aren't gay.
Josh: Doesn't matter. He is my best friend and I love him and if I had married him, he'd be eligible for my death benefits.

(yes, apparently in my apocalyptic future, gay marriage is legal - yay apocalyptic future!)

Then Josh tells them, "You have to promise you'll take care of him. He can't make the rent. You have to promise me. I can't let him go back to whoring himself."

Yes, I said whoring himself. Apparently that was enough of a jolt to wake me up, because I woke up then.

Sometimes I wish my dreams could be captured on video so you all could see them. This one was very vivid and the future-world looked really awesome.

Off to bed now - hopefully to have more dreams that include Joshua Jackson sacrificing himself so Elijah Wood won't have to be a prostitute.

Right? It was such an awesome dream.

My sister said I should write it as a fic and I was like, "Josh Jackson/Elijah Wood is not a valid ship," but apparently my subconcscious thinks otherwise, and I have pretty much been thinking about it since I dreamed it.

LOL, that was one hell of a dream. Also, I really like that gay marriage is legal there. ;)

I was sad to wake up from the dream - I wanted to know if Josh Jackson lived or not.

I was really proud of our apocalypse-future having gay marriage, even if it is barbaric enough to also let teenage boys fight lions. 8)

Your dreams make me so happy.

I hope they make Katniss EVerdeen more sympathetic in the Hunger Games movie - she's pretty much a bitch in the books.

My dreams make me happy too!

You didn't like Katniss? Bearing in mind that I still haven't read book 2 and 3, I like her. But then I relate to her and her home situation on a whole level that is a little scary.

I admire her determination and single-mindedness, but she is not a good or nice person. At all (even before 2 and 3).

See, I totally see it differently. I mean, she is a teenage girl - they are all kind of bitches - but you can't say she isn't good at all when she volunteered in her sister's place. And when she 'buried' Rue - I cried like a baby.

Is this the first time we've ever disagreed on something? Holy shit. ;)

No, those moments are great and moving, no doubt about it - but overall, she's not a good person. I think the only selfless thing she ever does is take Prim's place.

She didn't join up with Rue because she liked her, but because Rue helped her. She doesn't play the love-angle with Peeta because she likes him, but so that she can look better for the audience. She's not charming, or nice, or empathetic at all. She's pretty selfish except for the one move that lands her in the Games.

Then again, a protagonist doesn't have to be those things to be an interesting person. Odysseus is pretty much a deceitful, whore-chasing asshole, after all.

But she can't be a good or nice person to other people that she is going to have to kill - psychological that is a bad move to make.

In the end, it is all about survival - not just hers but her mom and sister's as well, both of whom have a better chance if she comes home.

I guess my acceptance of a lot of her behaviour is based on an understanding that she has to survive for her family. It's the Hunger Games - only person gets out alive and there is no moral ground in a fight to the death.

We will find out soon enough - my goal is to read them both before the movie comes out. That way I won't get spoiled by anything anyone I go to the movie with says (I have already been spoiled plenty as is).

I don't think I know that book.

Thank you! My sister has at last stopped running a fever. Now we both just have to stop sneezing.

Good. I'm glad to hear you guys are doing better. :)

I think it's from a book of short stories. It's this big deal race for teens and the winner gets like his hearts desire or something. The catch is they can not stop for any reason until they reach the finish line. No stopping to sleep or potty breaks or anything, every thing must be done on the move and if they do stop they can be killed by the race moderators. It comes down to two boys, the pov character and the unsuitable boy. It gets really intense at the end with the pov character winning, but not realizing it because he's so focused on staying just that one step ahead of the other boy who has actually died. It's that wonderful creepy ambiguous King ending.

Omg, I must find out which series of short stories I can find this in - I want to read it. I have read one of his short stories anthologys and it wasn't in that one. I'll have to do some research on that.

I'm pretty sure it's a Stephen King short story. I read it ages ago tho so I'm not sure. For some reason I remember that it was called Running Man and thinking that if that was the inspiration for the movie they really screwed it up.

by ages ago I mean 20 yrs or more

Dude, your dreams are... they're like movies! Really awesome movies, with legal gay marriage and Elijah being strapped to tables. I'm so jealous!

My dreams are like movies! I have at least two a week that I could post about, if I had more time to post because they are all so epic. My latest thing is to dream up episodes of "Scrubs". Once I was actually writing a SPN fanfic in my dream (it was a whole elaborate thing about how I conned my way out of school so I could write my fanfic) and I had it all plotted out. So when I woke up, I was like, "That was a good plot idea!" and I actually wrote it in real life.

I guess my unconscious figures that our future holds the promise of gay marriage - and inevitable starvation for all. /shakes head/ And that Elijah being strapped down/whoring himself thing - I swear it is all the LotR fandom's fault - all those Hurt!Frodo and Hurt!Elijah fics, damn them. Or not damn them, cuz it was pretty awesome in my dream. 8)

Also, I know I keep complimenting your new Sherlock icons, but this Castiel one had me loling. Awesome.

My dreams are always vague, if I even remember them. I wonder why it's so different for different people?

So when I woke up, I was like, "That was a good plot idea!" and I actually wrote it in real life.
Lol, awesome! Your brain plots fanfic for you even when you're sleeping. :D

LotR fandom has its priorities straight. Hurt!Elijah fics sounds awesome. Hrm. Yes. :P

Haha, thanks! I love that one. :)

I have had dreams in my childhood that are so vivid that I can still remember them. Not all of them were good dreams though but still, I don't know how I can remember them after all these years.

There was this little trend in LotR fandom to have Frodo being a prostitute in Bree or have him captured and made into a sex-slave (it wasn't a wide spread thing because LotR was a huge fandom but it was out there enough that I came across it). Also, you know how in CW RPS people love to write hurt!Jensen because he is so pretty when he breaks? Yeah, there was a lot of hurt!Elijah fic for the same reason. And now I've made myself want to go read some of it - look, I just got nostalgic for hurt!Elijah fic. Dammit. 8)

I do have one dream that I remember from when I was a kid. Quite vividly. I think I dreamed it a couple of times, so that might be why.

So basically, fangirls are sadistic bastards? Not that I can blame them/us. "The best parts are when they cry." :D

And now I've made myself want to go read some of it - look, I just got nostalgic for hurt!Elijah fic. Dammit.
I regret nothing! Go forth and be nostalgic! ;)

Ikr? It was such a cool dream and now I kind of ship Josh Jackson/Elijah Wood, which is a little odd, but totally awesome. Especially the part where, had I not woken up, Josh would have had to fight and be all sweaty and hot. Damn, why did I have to wake up?!
