Yeah, Okay, I Watch This Show Now.

Let’s talk Teen Wolf - (I can’t believe I just typed those words). I just finished S1! It took longer than I thought, mostly because there were so many summer shows I watched this year, but also because this show does start out kind of slow. It is very teen soap opera (with werewolves!) at the start and it took awhile for me to get into it. But I have now seen episodes 1.11 & 1.12, so let’s talk a few things.

I still find Scott to be the most boring character of them all, but that’s okay. I often find the lead to be the most disinteresting person on the show - (I liked Buffy, I just liked everyone else more, okay). I still find Allison’s dad to be the hottest guy on the show. I am so attracted to him and only part of it are my daddy issues. I still can’t stop staring at Derek’s eyebrows, except for when I am staring at his abs. Stiles is still my favorite, followed closely by Lydia. Allison finally started to get more interesting when she stopped just being ‘teenage girl for romance’ and started being kickass. Also, I still love her clothes and want her boots so bad. Jackson is still the prettiest pretty who ever prettied. Actually, I would put him in third place for my ranking of favorite people. Because he is an angry young man but yet, somehow, shows other layers of himself. Like his face when he comes back into the dance after selling Scott out and sees Stiles and just the look of guilt on his face, just the realization he has of what he has done - it was a beautiful thing. Also, he has freckles, which has never been a thing for me, but those combined with his eyes…yeah, okay.

Let’s talk about the kink. Uh, alphas, betas, omegas, werewolves, electro-shock torture, chaining people to walls, chaining people to walls and then fondling them - (while we are on it, Allison’s aunt is fucking hot and I know she is a psychopath but maybe that is what I find attractive, okay). Also, I am interested if we will find out more about the veterinarian guy.

Okay, Stiles and Lydia. I LOVE THEM. The moment at the dance when he was all, “Get your cute little butt out of your seat and dance with me,” and then gave her that speech about how he knows her better than anyone and omg, omg, I love them! But then, fucking, he stares down the goddamm alpha for her. He is shaking and terrified and can’t look the dude in the eyes, but he never leaves her side. And at the end, he swallows hard and looks up and meets the alpha’s eyes and just...he fucking stared down the alpha for her - if that’s not love, I don’t know what is. Stiles owns my goddamm heart. Also, I love Stiles’ dad but dude, come on, how do you not ever talk to your son to even know that like he was taking the hottest girl in school to the dance? Better parenting is needed, man.

Lastly, though I am aware of Derek’s attractiveness, he hasn’t ever been someone that I thought overly much on but dudes, okay, that moment after he kills the alpha and then his eyes glow red and holy shit… “I’m the alpha now,” and things happened in my pants right then. OMG. I rewound several times.

I have the urge to read Stiles/Danny and Stiles/Jackson now. Is that weird?

Now, Revolution - I am enjoying each episode more and more. I can see the influences of Abrams, Kripke and Favreau throughout the whole thing.

I really love the flashbacks a lot and I hope we get to see more for other people - (I especially want to see Maggie’s). I am fascinated by the uncle, the rebel computer lady, and the militant bounty hunter dude and I am glad to see that both Charlie and her brother get more kickass with each episode.

I was really interested to know that it wasn’t Monroe who started the whole militia, that it was the uncle, and that Monroe was kind of stand-off about the whole thing. When they flashback to when Uncle - (Miles, look I am learning their names!) - decides to go on the road and the friend - (Bas, Monroe, whatever,) - is all, “And you’re my family and that makes it my problem too. I’m going with you.” - I was like a) Hello, Kripke and the lovely theme of ‘family we make’ and b) Okay, I actually said out loud, “Huh. They’re kind of gay.” And without missing a beat, my sister goes, “Uuuuuh-huh.” Then later we flashback to them walking along the road and my sis goes, “And now we are back to the romantic storyline.” I mean, dude, at one point Lucifer is all, “He was never the same after you left.” I ship them, okay. Yes, I am that easy. Also, the things we could do with Lucifer owing them his life. Oh yeah.

Then we get the whole thing with the brother and when the dude is all, “Neville went to town. It’s just you and me now, boy,” and my brain immediately went, “Uh, I need to stop reading so much kink fic.” Anybody else go there? Anyways, later, the brother got so badass, choking that dude and I was like, “Damn, kid!” It was awesome when he was all, “If you touch me again, I’ll kill you.”

It’s all very good and getting better each time and now I demand all the Miles/Bas post-apocalypse on-the-road epic romance fics…immediately.

I was going to talk about other new shows I have tried this season, but I spent too long looking at Teen Wolf icons. How is this my life? (Stop pointing at me, wolfrider89!)

I'm going to really try to give Revolution a fair chance. I still need to watch the latest ep but it sounds like they're doing a solid job. I like Miles but am still a little freaked by the eeevil character he played in "Th Closer" (stupid, I know, but I am ignoring "Nashville" because Cy Tolliver/Powers Booth is in it. I'm hoping to get over that.)

Hearing that they're spending time on backstory makes me really want to hang in there with it.

I'm glad "Teen Wolf" is making you so happy :-)I haven't made it to that series yet, but it seems rich with fic fodder!

Revolution is not the greatest show and I am not head-over-heels about it, but it is solid, which is more than I can say for most shows in the early days of their freshman year. They really didn't waste much time on the blahblah-explanation of the world and the characters get a litle more interesting with each episode. I think that is the big draw for me - so many shows start out great and go downhill from there, but Revolution actually seems to be going uphill, so I'm sticking with it for now. The flashbacks were something they weren't going to do at first but decided to try. I really like them because I want to see more post-blackout stuff so I am onboard with all the flashbacks.

I totally get having trouble seeing a character as a good guy when you only know him as a baddie (though Idk if I would call Miles a 'good' guy but certainly not a creepy killer). I think it was Mark Pellegrino on an episode of Criminal Minds and I was like, "He did it. He's the devil," and I couldn't be swayed from that thought through the whole episode.

I really have no interest in Nashville except for that Eric Close is on it - I love him. So then I considered trying it out just for him but it conflicts with something else (can't remember what now) that I want to watch more, so no Nashville for me. You'll have to let me know how it is though - maybe I'l catch up later.

Teen Wolf is so ridiculous and yet I can't stop watching. I am ashamed of myself but at least it finally got past the ridiculous soap opera stage and into some serious drama. It does inspire a lot of fic writing, it's true. The characters are just made to be played with. But it's a very young feeling show. I think I just latched onto it because I have that guilty pleasure love of bad high school dramas (One Tree Hill anyone?). Though I hear season two gets less teen soap opera, so maybe it'll stop making me feeling like I have to watch it in secret. It is making me happy though, that's for sure.

Let me tell you there is a certain amount of Stiles/Lydia/Jackson fic in the world. Obviously not as much as there is Derek/Stiles. If you only looked at fic, you'd think that Teen Wolf was basically the epic love story of Stiles and Derek. Scott would appear to be a very minor character, lol. I love you, fandom.

You know, from everything I saw in fandom, I started watching Teen Wolf expecting Derek and Stiles to spend copious amount of time together. I was surprised by how little time they do spend with each other. I mean, whenever they had scene together, they were great - (it's that opposites thing - it oddly reminds me of Eliot and Hardison on Leverage except with more wolves) - but I was just surprised by how they weren't like joined at the hip, like fandom had me thinking.

You would think, logically, that Scott/Derek or Scott/Stiles would be the main pairing. I, myself, have no interest in either of those pairings because I find Scott to be so boring. I think I am too old these days to get overly attached to a guy like Scott. I read Derek/Stiles but currently I just crave a lot of Stiles/Jackson, idk why.

I would read the FUCK out of Stiles/Lydia/Jackson. SO HARD.

I guess that's what happens when you read fic before seeing the source. I watched S1 last year and I was like "WHOAAAAA I SHIP THIS" when I saw Derek and Stiles' interactions, which often seem to involve a pretty high level of intensity (okay, sometimes it's violent intensity). Derek and Scott don't have that chemistry and Scott and Stiles are too cute and BFFy. I felt validated by fandom, lol. I am not a fan of the most popular ships in SPN fandom so this is a pleasant change for me. S2 only made it even more blatant. To the point that I find it hard to believe the Teen Wolf people when they say they didn't intend to make us all ship it.

I pretty much hate Jackson so I'm not really interested in reading about him unless Lydia is topping the hell out of him, hahaha. There is Stiles/Jackson out there but I haven't read any because I don't think douchebag Jackson deserves someone as awesome as Stiles.

I hadn't really read any fic before watching the show but I know all my friends were writing Derek/Stiles and talking about it and reccing fic for it, so I kind of got a different impression of things that way. But I remember the first scene Derek & Stiles have alone together (I think it was one where they are in Stiles' jeep - a lot of scenes happen in Stiles jeep, don't they?) and afterwards I told The BFF, "I hope Derek & Stiles have all the scenes together. They have more chemistry together than anyone else on the show." Then I was sadly disappointed when they did not have all the scenes together.

To the point that I find it hard to believe the Teen Wolf people when they say they didn't intend to make us all ship it.

If they didn't at first, they sure as hell do now, right? Like, come on, those actors at the least know about us and know what they are doing to hit our buttons.

It is true that Jackson is a douchebag. I must admit, it's probably partially why I like him. I really have a terrible habit of falling for the douchebag. I mean, I don't usually go for the outright villian but douchebags? Oh yeah, totally my thing. I should probably let that worry me more than it does.

I can't decide if I want to jump right into season 2 or let the awesome of the end of season 1 sink in for a little while longer.

Alpha now scene - hotness. Who knew glowing red eyes could be a thing? I sure didn't. And I notice Derek's hotness more on the rewatches - I need to get to know a character before they do anything for me, apparently.

Yeah, what's up with that? lol Mostly, tbh, I just blame everything about my love for Teen Wolf on you. Because I was debating getting into this show and then you did and I was all, "Well, if Wolfie did then I guess I should too," and then I fell down a deep dark hole we will call "The Hole Of Stiles' Stupid Face'. ;)

How could you not notice them?! He uses them in all of his acting! It's like...Eyebrow-Acting - you can tell what kind of mood Derek is in based on what his eyebrows are doing.

Totally, me too. I mean sometimes I am attracted straight out the gate (Castiel anyone?) but in this case, I was a little bored by Derek, I think. I didn't see all the layers tnat were there right away. Like he doesn't 'express' himself all that much, like he is very closed off and guarded and I think I was getting a different idea of him, but on rewatch (and after several scenes between him and Stiles which have amazing chemistry and also really shows more of Derek than we normally see) I can see all the emotion he has just under the surface and suddenly I am like , "Man Pain is delicious!" Or, werewolf pain is delicious, whatever. ;)
