So, here are my totals for last year. My goal was initially to do 500 words a day. Then I cut it down to 1,000 words a week. Most months I didn’t make that goal, especially in the last six months of the year when word count production was cut in thirds due to stress and like no free time for myself. Also, I am just ridiculously amused that my highest fandom total was for SPN. Like, I don’t even go there anymore! It’s Dean/Cas, they won’t let me go! And, yes, 8 ½ fics completed totally makes sense because I wrote a chapter of a book that I hope to continue on writing this year and actually finishing. It was an idea that my grandma put to me and I laughed it off and she called me out and demanded I write it. So I wrote her a chapter for her Christmas present. Which I count as the ½. I finished the chapter in time for Christmas, but I have not finished the book. Thus, the ½. Hopefully, I’ll keep at that one.

So, here are some numbers:

Words Written In 2015!

By Month and Fandom under the cut. )

January had my highest monthly count at 6,650 words.
September had my lowest monthly count at 450 words.
Supernatural had my highest fandom count at 13,330 words.
Leverage had my lowest fandom count at 250 words.
11 Fandoms written in.
16 Fics worked on.
8 1/2 Fics completed.
13 Fics posted.
23,600 words written in the first six months of 2015.
8,450 words written in the last six months of 2015.

32,050 total words written in 2015!

So, how’d you all do this past year with writing and posting?
dodger_sister: (writing)
I haven't really been posting my word counts this year, mostly because they have been so dismal and also because I keep track of that stuff on my desktop and I swear, I barely turn that thing on anymore, especially now that I have my fancy new IPad keyboard. But I have been keeping track, so I figured now is a good time to post the first 6 months of word counts.

Here we go! January - June, under the cut. )

It's only about a quarter of my yearly goal - which is 100k - so not that great, but maybe I can make up for it in the second half of the year, now that I am getting used to juggling my new spoon-level better. That whole 'write everyday, even if it's just 100 words' thing I tried in May didn't really work. Maybe I should try again.
dodger_sister: (chuck shurley)
Saw one of those memes going around - “Post the first line/paragraph of your last 20 fics.” I never post in the order that I write - my organization is mayhem - but I have this folder of finished fics that are just waiting for a final read-thru and some header info and I happen to have 20 fics in there, so that’s where I’m pulling these lines from. Eventually, I might get around to posting the stories themselves!

Jared was a pretty good roommate, Jensen had to admit that. He hung up his bathroom towels and rinsed off his dirty dishes and most importantly, he took Jensen to parties that had liquor - the good kind, not the piss-water beer Jensen’s friends always served.

19 more under the cut! )

I may have had to re-read some of these as I was doing this meme. Like idk what it says about me, but I really like my own stories a lot. Have a go, if you like!
dodger_sister: (narnian creatures)
I had the craziest dream last night. It started with someone in my home, attacking me and I was all, "Do you know who I am friends with? Bo Dennis. The succubus." And then some of my 'friends' showed up to help me fight - like the strangest multi-fandom crossover ever. Teen Wolf, Lost Girl, Avengers, Hunger Games, Sesame Street (Big Bird was there), Strawberry Shortcake, Law & Order SVU, Lorne from Angel, Hellboy, etc. When I noticed Hellboy, I shouted, "OMG, Hellboy is on my team!" There were over a hundred different people and we were fighting bad guys and going on adventures and I was so happy and everything was awesome. But then I heard my brother's voice calling my name and I snapped back into my body (still in the dream tho) and realized I was actually in a coma and my brother was there begging me to wake up. I was like floating over my own body in the hospital room and I realized I had been in a coma for months. All the time I was on the adventures with my team of awesome friends, I was actually in a coma.

More under the cut. )

Then I fell back to sleep and this time I dreamed about Stiles and Derek and they were both in Derek's kitchen with their shirts off and Stiles was making toast and they were standing really close to each other, not speaking, but like Derek was just staring at Stiles and it was enormously tension filled and I was like, "Wow, this is a lot of sexual tension for a scene about making toast."

This is my brain, folks.

So, now that it is the end of the first month of 2015, how about I put up my word counts for 2014? lol I stopped putting up my monthly counts last year just because I was so sick at the beginning of the year, but I continued to keep track of what I was writing, if not weekly, at least throughout the month. So, here it all is!

Numbers under the cut! )

Just a few things to point out…

16 Fandoms written in.
3 New Fandoms this year - Agents of Shield, Power Pack Kids & Roller Team.
Top 3 Most Written in Fandoms were The Hobbit, The Avengers & CW RPS.
My Least Written in Fandom was Hawaii Five-O.
My Lowest Monthly Word Count was 0 words in April.
My Highest Monthly Word Count was 15,350 words in December.
Finished 2 major WIPs that had been languishing for more than a year - the Jeff/Jensen & Jared/Misha fics.
Wrote my first Tim/Raylan and Kirk/McCoy fics ever.
Wrote 4 Fic-For-Kids.
Completed 21 stories this year. 12 of those were done in December.
53,300 words written in 2014!!

Now, onto 2015, wherein I am determined to finish that fucking Sterek AU! And maybe write that Hunger Games Primrose fic I finally figured out an outline for.

Dream On.

Let's talk about a crazy dream I had a few nights ago. It's been awhile since I wrote one of these up - I suspect it will seem even stranger on 'paper'.

It started with my family returning from vacation and my mom wanting me to go to dinner with everyone and I was like, "I just spent 3 weeks in the car with you people, I don't need to go to dinner with you too." I went in my room and there were suddenly these bats - (but they also looked kind of like owls, idek) - outside my window, pecking against the glass. I was freaked, cuz bats freak me, but I thought, "They can't get in, it's okay." But then they chewed through the screen, bursting through the glass. I screamed and ran out. When my dad went to check, the room was completely full of bats. They weren't scared of people, so they would perch right on you and you had to hold really still, because if they got startled, they'd bite and you'd get rabies and die.

This dream also involves scientists, Harry Potter, my friend K, Teen Wolf and graphic TV sex. )

I rewound one more time. And then I woke up.

Yep. IDEK. The next night I had a dream that entailed myself, some kids I went to junior high with, the Leverage crew, the Friends, a smattering of X-Men, an evil military and some candy bars.

Let's see...some updates.

Mom is still doing good post-tooth removal surgery. Infection-free thus far! /knock on virtual wood/ Big Buddy has to go into the vet on Saturday because his arthritis is getting worse in his hind legs. He's 15, which in cat years is like 90-something, so yeah, I'd expect his arthritis to be worse, but it's hard to watch him limping around. My mother keeps wanting to borrow money from me, here and there, bits and pieces, and while I have the money, I am like, "Maybe if she hadn't just spent $75 on furniture that she didn't need, she could afford to put gas in her car." I really wish she'd just let the car go. It would save her money and she's too blind to be driving anyway. I understand her reluctance, because I hated giving up my car when the time came, but if it's not safe, it's not safe, you know. Also, we still haven't gotten anywhere on the case against the owner of the dog that mauled Winston. The prosecutor is dragging his feet for some reason.

It's my dad's birthday on Friday, so we are being good daughters and picking up a pizza and going out to his house for dinner. Not my favorite place to be - the house I grew up in - but we are already going to be fairly close to his place at therapy on Friday, so rather than doing it a different day, we are just going straight there after my session. Hopefully my grandma will join us and also my sister is making pie, so there will be pie. But on Sunday we get to do fun stuff. My two younger cousins - (the gamer and his brother) - are coming over with their significant others to cook-out and play games. I am really looking forward to that.

Who saw Teen Wolf this week? The Parrish thing freaked me out! Anybody else?

That is all.
dodger_sister: (supernatural)
That post I put up last week, that was a call to arms shout out by [livejournal.com profile] wendy to get some action going on LJ again, had me thinking. I have certainly been better about posting the last month or so, since I've started feeling better. But sometimes I still miss entire weeks where I don't post at all. So I have decided, in an effort to get myself on LJ more, to make one day a week my official Must Post Day. That'll hopefully get me back in the habit and if not, well at least I'll have one day a week of posting. I've picked Tuesday, partially because it's a day I don't have PT and partially because I thought up a cool name for the challenge related to Tuesday.

Pig 'N A Post Day! From now on, every Tuesday on my LJ, it will be Pig 'N A Post Day. Where I will make a LJ post. Join me if you want! And now in honor of Pig 'N A Post Day #1, I will make a SPN-related post. A story in which I met a fangirl at therapy and the ensuing conversation.

Under the cut! )

And that is how my therapist learned a lesson about not putting people in boxes. Boxes are for cats, not people!

I kept meaning to get this all written up, just some numbers on my word counts for 2013. I actually kept track throughout the year because the previous year, when I added it all up, I realized I was just 750 words short from hitting 100k and there was no way I was going to let that happen again. Especially this time when I added it up at the 6-month mark and realized I had 50k exactly, I had to go for the big goal and get it done.

Fandoms Written In For 2013 - 15; Avengers, Buffy&Angel, Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, CW RPS, The Hunger Games, Kitties!, Leverage, Lost Girl, Middle-Earth, Once Upon A Time, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Without A Trace & The X-Files.

New Fandoms Written In For 2013 - 6; Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, Kitties!, The Hobbit, Lost Girl, and Once Upon A Time.

The Fandoms I Wrote The Most In For 2013 -
Buffy&Angel: 9,250 words.
CW RPS: 13,200 words.
Teen Wolf: 40,600 words.

Lowest Monthly Word Count - 4,000 words in November.
Highest Monthly Word Count - 14,000 words in July.

Random Things About My 2013 Writing Under The Cut. )

Total Yearly Word Count - 101,200 words written in 2013!!

My goals for 2014 are to finish all of the WIPS in my writing folder. I’m on a mission! I have already finished one this year. Most importantly is to get that freaking Derek/Stiles fic finished! I’m thinking Teen Wolf will probably be the front-runner of word counts again, just in finishing that one fic. But I wonder what new fandoms will strike my fancy during 2014. Anyways, that’s 2013...onto the next!
dodger_sister: (writing)
In September I wrote the Faith/Teen Wolf fic that I was so scared to write, but ended up really loving. Also, more Leverage fic - (I was in a mood, Hardison needed a little PTSD - it happens). Also, I started my X-Files Halloween fic, but with how I’ve been feeling here in October, I’m not sure I’ll get it finished in time. I’m debating dropping it and turning out something much shorter for Halloween, but I need to decide soon.

Here is my approximate word count for the month of September.

September, 2013
Week One: 600 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
1,100 words of Faith fic.
Week Two: 5,850 words of Faith fic.
Week Three: 250 words of Faith fic. Completed. (already posted!)
850 words of Leverage fic. Completed.
Week Four: 1,550 words of X-Files Halloween fic.

10,200 words written in September!

Fics posted in September, 2012. )

Last one! Again, sorry for the spam. Having these up here is so much easier for keeping track of my weekly/monthly/yearly word counts and all that.
dodger_sister: (fanfic)
Yep, onto the next! Every single thing I wrote this month was in Teen Wolf. Wow. I think that is the first time I have done that since...Firefly days perhaps. Years, anyways.

Here is my approximate word count for the month of August.

August, 2013
Week 1/2: 2,250 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week One: 600 words of Derek fic. Completed.
Week Two: 2,000 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Three: 3,100 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Four: 2,350 words of Scott/Isaac PWP fic. Completed.

10,300 words written in August!

Fics posted in August, 2012. )

Broke 10k for the third month in a row here! Haven’t gotten around to actually posting any of these fics though - oops. Also, the first time I haven’t made my weekly word goal since I started having one. I literally just forgot! I knew I had written already that week so I thought I was good to go, but I apparently only wrote a 600 word fic and that is 400 words short of my goal. Double oops. But still, 10k, so I’ll take it!
dodger_sister: (chuck shurley)
Ugh. I haven’t put any of these up in months. I have a document where I keep track of them all, but for some reason, I haven’t actually posted any in a long while. Apologies up front for the spam to follow.

Here is my approximate word count for the month of July.

July, 2013
Week One: 1,400 words of Lost Girl fic.
Week Two: 1,350 words of Dean & Cas fic. Completed. (already posted!)
4,150 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
1,150 words of Avengers Fic-For-Kids.
Week Three: 1,700 words of Avengers Fic-For-Kids. Completed. (already posted!)
2,150 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Three: 1,050 words of Melissa McCall fic. Completed.
Week Four: 1,050 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.

14,000 words written in July!

Fics posted in July, 2012. )

Huh, this looks like the month I started my very first Lost Girl fic ever. I think this is the first new fandom I’ve written in this year.

1) CONGRATS TO RICK PORCELLO FOR HIS FIRST CAREER COMPLETE GAME!! That is quite a feat! He had a chance earlier this season, but they pulled him at the last second. This time around they had a big enough lead and he had a couple innings where he only threw like 7 or 8 pitches, so they let him go for it! All nine innings and Detroit took the win! With about 15 games left in the season - IT’S GO TIME!

#2-4 under the cut. )

5) I’ve written 7,000 words since last Thursday! Holy crap, YES. This is good, because now I can watch a shit-ton of baseball this week and not worry that I am not writing enough. But…I NEED HELP FROM MY TEEN WOLF FLISTIES to get this fic in the bag! Can you guys answer the following questions (if there are canon answers to these questions): What color are Isaac’s werewolf eyes? What color are Derek’s werewolf eyes at the end of S3? How old is Isaac at the end of S3? Do we know what happens to werewolves when they get cut by a silver blade? THANKS, GANG!

Tomorrow I am hanging with The BFF and going to Outback Steakhouse with my girls! Then on Sunday I am catching up on comments and my Flist, so that on Monday I can jump feet first back into my mega-fic that is patiently waiting for me in the corner. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, GUYS!!!
dodger_sister: (omg)
So I have been re-watching Undeclared, which I watched when it originally aired, and it was extra fun this time because now I know so many of the guest stars; Mary Kay Place, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler (playing himself and surrounded by his actual entourage), Ben Stiller, Busy Philipps, Jason Segel, David Krumholtz, Kyle Glass (which is extra funny because one of the boys has a Tenacious D poster on his wall), Samm Levine, Martin Starr, Felicia Day & Jenna Fischer. Plus, the leads, Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen and Charlie Hunnam.

Then my mind suddenly demanded a Teen Wolf College AU where Derek Hale is the grumpy dorm floor R.A. and Scott, Stiles, Jackson, Danny, Ethan, Aidan, Boyd, Isaac, Lydia, Allison, Erica & Cora all live on the floor - (and Greenberg lives in the janitor closet like Perry did on Undeclared). And Scott's mom and Stiles' dad meet at Parents' Weekend and have a flirtation. And I want a whole episode where Lydia realizes that Danny likes Ethan and tries to help him catch Ethan's attention with a cute friendship bonding moment between them. And I want Stiles and Cora to have a sweet friendship but whenever they are in Stiles' room with the door shut, Derek busts the door open and yells "No closed doors in this dorm!" like a protective big brother and then storms out, and also, in general, I need lots of Derek dragging Stiles around by the scruff of his shirt. I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE, YOU GUYS.

This one goes under a cut for NSFW thoughts. )

Also, the other day my sister and I caught a bit of Unstoppable - (aka Chris Pine On A Runaway Train) - and we had this conversation regarding Unstoppable vs Speed:
Sis: I like the premise of this being more man-made disaster rather than a terrorist plot.
Me: Though to be fair, if you have to get a crazy terrorist for your movie, you can't do much better than Dennis Hopper.
Sis: Unless you get Gary Oldman.
Me: John Malkovich.
Sis: Snape. I mean, Alan Rickman.
Me: Yeah, any of those guys.
What do you all think - who else plays a good 'crazy plot to blow things up' kind of guy?

In final news, yesterday my sister had such a bad day. Like, the garage door opener broke, the shower knob came completely off, her work laptop and phone broke, we found out the second garage needs new siding and there wasn't enough charcoal to grill the chicken. She finally gave up and just went to pick up our dinner and just wanted this day to be over and that's when C called to say that the kittens they had found in their yard the day before weren't doing well - (2 of them had passed away) - and she needed help. I told her to send us a picture so we could guess how old they were and then could advise her on what to pick up at the pet store. When I called my sister to tell her all this, she said, "I'm right down the street from the pet store. Tell her I'll just come down there and help her pick out what she needs." Here my sister was having the worst day and she drops everything to help a friend of mine take care of some stray kittens. My sister is awesome, is all I'm saying.

That is all.
dodger_sister: (sick)
Ugh. So, Wednesday night, I started running a fever. Boo being sick. )

Oh, and real quick, since I didn't get around to making a post yesterday, I just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] bugeyedmonster!

I hope it was a good one, darling!
Princess Peach Cake
You are a peach!

Lastly, I just have one quick thought on Teen Wolf and what I foresee as a long-term plan for Stiles. General spoilers for S2 & 3 of Teen Wolf and the Buffy comics. ) Idk if they'll do it on the show, but it's totally going to be my new future head-canon for him!
dodger_sister: (fanfic)
The month of June’s word count - wherein half my words were dedicated to Teen Wolf! Also, I finished two WIPs - one of which has been sitting on my computer for like two years now! It was a very productive month, mostly I think because I decided to try this trial run thing of doing one writing-related activity everyday; be it writing or posting or editing. Even if it was only ten minutes, it was something, every day. It also helped me clear out my ‘written but not edited’ folder, so I have a line of things now that are ready to post. I think next month I should focus more on posting than anything else, just to get that folder cleared out!

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

June, 2013
Day One: 1,300 words of Avengers/OUaT fic. Completed. (already posted!)
Week One: 1,400 words of Christian/Jensen PWP. Completed.
1,200 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Two: 2,000 words of Danny/Stiles fic. Completed. (already posted!)
Week Three: 4,200 words of Teen Wolf Danny fic.
Week Four: 750 words of Teen Wolf Danny fic. Completed.
1,250 words of J2 Clothes fic. Completed.

12,100 words written in June!

Fics posted in June, 2012. )

You guys! I know it is jinxing things or whatever to add up my word count thus far, but I did it anyways and…I am at 50,000 words for the year! That’s counting January thru June - literally exactly 50,000 words in six months! When my yearly goal is 100k, so I am perfectly on track so far! Awesome.

+ [livejournal.com profile] ceitfianna was here for a visit the last few days! We rewatched some Teen Wolf S3, some Vikings, the Ringers documentary. We went out to Applebees - (their Chicken Fajita Rollups are yum!). We had a great little visit!
- This was our last hurrah before she moves back East. I fought the urge to lock her in the storage room downstairs and keep her forever, but she’ll be missed around these parts.
+ The Nephew is coming for a visit this weekend!
+ I have finished The Nephew’s fic!
- He has already given me another prompt for another fic. I told him that he’ll have to wait for that one because ‘writing is hard’ and he told me, “No, it’s not. It’s just typing words.” That little shit!
+ I have now also finished his fic art! Science Bros FTW!
+ I have finished [livejournal.com profile] jojothecr’s birthday fic!
- I have not finished the art.
+ I have baseball to watch tomorrow!
+ The weather is glorious and the temperature just perfect! /knock on virtual wood/
- Used the last remains of my foundation makeup this weekend and have been stealing my sister’s ever since. Not a good color match!
- I forgot to pick up a binder for The Nephew to keep all his fics in that I wrote him, because he keeps ‘misplacing’ them. (a nice way of saying that kid needs to clean his room!)
- I forgot to get my labwork done last week.
- My neck hurts. A lot.
+ Sister brought home gourmet cupcakes. Mine tasted like a root beer float!
+ I found the site that lists songs used in TV episodes! Switched at Birth soundtrack will soon be added to my playlist!
- They only have five Chicago Fire songs listed. Will have to research more for that soundtrack.
- At SDCC, they announced a spin-off series for Supernatural. DO. NOT. WANT. (nope, won't be watching).
- Bunheads got canceled. Sad-face.
+ Found out New Girl at therapy is a Teen Wolf fan! Have a RL person to talk about this shit with!
- Have not seen hardly any of either of The Things in a few weeks. Miss my adorable boys.
- My sister has canceled her weekend-long trip to Chicago with The Nephew in favor of a day trip with my little brother’s whole family to Michigan Adventure. This means I will not get to have the whole house to myself for a weekend. Am majorly bummed about this.
+ Convinced her that we should plan for an October trip to Chicago for grown-up fun instead, i.e. visiting friends. [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth, [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep and [livejournal.com profile] rhymephile - This. Means. You!
- Haven’t written at all this week.
+ Have so many ‘family’ themed fic ideas for Teen Wolf! They are trying to push their way out of my head.
+ Rediscovered my Matt Nathanson album. Still love it.
+ Going to get into bed now.
dodger_sister: (teen wolf)
The Fosters has tackled some really tough issues lately. Spoilers from the last two episodes, involving interesting social commentary. ) This show really treats their audience with respect when dealing with these complex issues. Plus, I am stupidly into the teen romances!

Teen Wolf has done several things that pissed me off this season, but recently they may have made up for all that bullshit. Spoilers for the entirety of S3 thus far, some boo and some yay. ) The season needs to do more eps like this one, thank you very much.
dodger_sister: (question)
Question #1: How is this my life? My Teen Wolf fic writing started with this gen fic that I knew upfront was going to be like 20k. But I got stalled out and thought, “That’s okay, I’ll go write some shorter fics to get into the fandom with, so I just don’t throw a 20k gen fic into the void.” I wrote this 4k humor/romance fic that turned out just like I wanted, all good; that 2k piece that I posted a few days ago that was meant to be a NC-17 kink-ish PWP, which you can see, didn’t quite work out, but also turned out all good. (maybe there's something in the Teen Wolf water that makes one all soft. I mean - at least the last time I was there - their kink_meme seemed to prompt schmoop the way the SPN kink_meme prompts non-con knotting genderswap. Not that there’s anything wrong with that). Then there is the story I have been working on for months now, in starts and stops. The one that was meant to be 6k and is now up over 10,000 words and they have only just had their first kiss. Three more scenes to go before they kiss again and another three before they have a makeout session. And the thing is, I’m not going any higher than handjobs in this fic - (maybe, possibly, blowjobs). So I am about to turn out like 25k on a fic that doesn’t even have any full-on sex in it! I ask you again…how is this my life?

Question #2: On a more serious note - who has an IPad? Do you know how to download video to it using something other than ITunes? My sister took a bunch of video of the kids while my brother was home visiting and edited it together. We want to show it to my grandparents but Grandpa has a hard time with the smaller screens, so I want to put it on the IPad. I know how to download using ITunes and how to take a video with my camera app and watch it on my photo-roll, but I can’t seem to download from a dl link or a youtube link (using the 'keepit' software). Is there a way to get a video onto your photo/camera roll from an outside source?

Question #3: This is for my SPN brethren and contains mega-spoilers for Season 8, so…I’ll put it under a cut. ) I guess the fact that I am writing a post-S8 fic means that I am excited about the show again? Because I never thought I would write anything post-S5 and yet, here I am!
dodger_sister: (family)
So the visit with The Canadians went very well! They are better and better houseguests each time they stay. I have very few gripes and the main one was that I didn’t get to see enough of them! Also, they didn’t say what their plans were going to be, when just knowing when it was they intended to be at the house was all I needed, as it helps enormously with anxiety to know my schedule ahead of time. And they wanted to go out to eat with us, but they didn’t ask until Tuesday when I had therapy and then Wednesday we had to take The Nephew to his ballgame, so I felt bad about that.

But I did get to spend a nice evening on Monday playing the Wii with my brother and his wife. We turned it on for the kids but they lost interest quickly, so we ended up playing for like an hour and that was actually really fun. But hoyboy are those two competitive with each other! Also, my s-i-l said to me when they were leaving, “But we did not get to watch any of your teen shows this time!” - (in the past it has been The OC and One Tree Hill) - and I said, “Oh, I have an episode of Teen Wolf we could have watched,” and my brother said, “Uh, we have Teen Wolf in Canada,” all disgusted like and his wife yelled at him, “But it is not the same! I like when she tells me who everyone is and sleeping with and stuff! It is funnier that way!” That made me smile.

My Niece and Nephew are dorks! )

So, that was our week, more or less, and I am glad to have my house and my schedule back, but I miss the kids already!
