You Guys! Best. Week. Ever.

Now I shall tell you a story.
I woke up on Monday with cramps and icky and being a woman sucks. Guess that's why I couldn't bring myself to workout all weekend and just kept playing video games all day. Figured it would be a crappy couple of days here this week.
WRONG.
Because last week I got a couple of nice comments on a Dean/Cas fic I wrote back whenever. Figured it got recced somewhere. Hit my 50th comment! This week I got one more - AND MY COMMENT SECTION ROLLED OVER TO THREE PAGES.
Now I know I am suppose to be all cool and nonchalant about it - but dudes, that has never happened to me before. Ever. It's kind of awesome.
I'll stop being uncool now, but seriously, wicked.
WICKED.
So that is all making me happy on Tuesday, tralalala...and then my sister comes home from work....WITH
hiyacynth AND HER BABY BOY IN TOW!! They live like five hours away and I guess her husband had to go out of town on business and she didn't want to be home alone all week with the baby and so she and my sister conspired to get her on a train and come here and SURPRISE ME AND THE BFF AND IT WAS AWESOME!
I SAID "AWESOME".
I thought my brain was having a seizure. My sister comes home from work everyday, the exact same thing. This day, I turned around to say, "How was work?" and there was MY GIRL AND HER BOY IN THE LIVING ROOM.
We've been nibbling on juicy baby fingers all week. You guys, this baby is made of Cute. Like 90% Cute, 10% Poop. You guys, I can't even...here, hold my ovaries for a second.
NO, REALLY, BEST WEEK EVER.
So this week, we've been rewatching season two of Justified, yes, already. Apparently some people hadn't seen it and some people needed to watch it without their husbands in the room, cuz that's a whole lotta hotness. Noises needed to be made.
Um, what else? I made
hiyacynth watch some "House" while we waited to see if Campbell would go to sleep so she could hit the shower. This conversation happened...
Hiyacynth: Why is House up in everyone's business?
Me: Because he is an asshat.
Hiyacynth: Oh. Is that the allure of the character?
Me: Pretty much.
Hiyacynth: And now we will learn a valuable lesson?
Me: Pretty much.
Also, she totally called the diagnosis, I was very impressed. It was Rabies. It's weird, I've recently become strangely addicted to watching "House". I like it. I would totally marry and divorce Dr. House, yes, I would.
Then I made her watch "Breaking In". Not the new ep though, still haven't seen that one. It was the episode where Mel was aggravated that Dutch was up in her space at work all the time. Then Cam and Cash had the exchange about Goonies and started pranking each other.
Hiyacynth: Okay, I could watch a show about those two dudes being friends, like, all day.
Me: Yes.
Hiyacynth: But, and I know you love Michael Rosenbaum, but that dude, just...no.
Me: Oh yeah, he's a total douche. It's the point. You'll love him anyways.
That episode wasn't the best demonstration of why you should love Dutch anyways, but you should. But sadly, this will probably be the last time I ever mention "Breaking In" again...because IN HORRIBLE NEWS - "Breaking In" got canceled. The news article I read actually said that it was doing good in the ratings and that there was no explanation as to why it got canceled. The reporter seemed a little peeved about it. The other shows Fox canceled were purely ratings based. I don't know why this wonderfully fun show has been taken away. I'm starting to think Christian Slater is cursed. Now what will Michael Rosenbaum do? Sit around his house with his pants off and wait for the next season of Mad Men to grace his television set?
Now I away to try to catch up on some shit. I really wanted to have a new story for you all for my birthday - (hobbit tradition states that I am suppose to give gifts on my bday) - but I wouldn't hold my breath on that or anything. Writing is hard, yo.
SERIOUSLY AWESOME WEEK, DUDES.

Date: 2011-05-16 03:46 am (UTC)I feel like I have seen this Family Guy ep but my brain can't quite recall it.
Now Fox is apparently rethinking their decision to cancel "Breaking In". Idk why, though every single article I read on the subject was basically pointing at the ratings (which were good) and going "Wtf Fox?" over the cancelation. So now they are contemplating putting it in their comedy night line-up instead. We will see.
I'm not holding my breath because as you said.../points to Firefly/

Date: 2011-05-16 11:29 am (UTC)Oh, hell yes.
Even though I haven't seen Breaking In, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :)

Date: 2011-05-13 02:18 pm (UTC)Just dropping by to let you know that I'm still alive. Aside from that I don't have much else to say except that I'm glad you're doing well. I owe you a reply to that kind email you sent me a couple of weeks ago. I'm sorry I haven't replied yet. It's been a combination of laziness and dreariness. Honestly, 2011 is turning out to be a pretty crappy year so far but I don't want to start bitching about that here.
Until better days!

Date: 2011-05-16 03:56 am (UTC)You know, normally I am all, "My story rocks! I am awesome!" when I write something. But that Dean/Cas story...you remember me freaking out because I had rewritten it so many times and I couldn't even tell if it made sense and I made you read it and talk me down off the crazy ledge, right? The one time I freaked out over a story and now look. Three Pages of Comments.
I feel like my baby just went off to college or something. I'm so proud.
See how I don't worry about sounding vain with you?
I hope your troubles are just work sucking you down and not something worse. I hope your dad is doing okay and that it's not that. And I definitely I hope things get better for you soon.
I am a little concerned that there was no fistbump at the end of this comment. But there also was no hug, so that is a good sign at least. If you had tried to hug me, I'd have been really worried about you. ;)
/fistbump/ and a /hardcore shoulder shove/.

My dad's birthday is this week. I guess he's all right, which always isn't the truth because you know what the disease is like - progressively degenerative. He's going for a check-up soon. Either next week or the week after. We're waiting for his doctor to get back.
Low energy fist bump?

Date: 2011-05-15 06:15 pm (UTC)Also, yay for getting to spend time with the wee!baby. Glad for you that a potentially shitty week ended up being good.
I'm so bummed about Breaking In. Maybe another network will pick up the show. Sometimes cable channels will pick up something with good ratings that the regular networks drop. *shrugs* we can only hope.

Date: 2011-05-16 04:33 am (UTC)I think if I had an LJ back in my LotR days, that I may have had one story that might have gotten that many comments, but even that I'm not positive on, since there is no record of the comments I got. This is awesome in a mind-blowing kind of way. Especially since I worked way harder on that Dean/Cas story than I pretty much have anything I've written in years. ;)
Usually I am like, "Oh, that's a cute baby, hi baby," and then go on about my business. I don't get all transfixed by other people's kids - don't all babies look the same anyways? But this kid, he really is gorgeous and awesome. My ovaries were already for JDM to show up. Sadly, he did not.
I shall repost what I just told someone above about what The BFF read today on Breaking In - Now Fox is apparently rethinking their decision to cancel "Breaking In". Idk why, though every single article I read on the subject was basically pointing at the ratings (which were good) and going "Wtf Fox?" over the cancelation. So now they are contemplating putting it in their comedy night line-up instead. We will see.
I'm not gonna hold my breath that they will pick it up but maybe as a mid-season replacement. FOx did that with Dollhouse...canceled it and then needed something to fill in for as a mid-season replacement and so gave Dollhouse another season. I wish Fox did summer shows...Breaking In would make a great summer run.

Date: 2011-05-18 12:00 pm (UTC)I wish Fox did summer shows...Breaking In would make a great summer run. I second that! Doesn't FX do summer runs of shows? It might be something the regular stations leave to the cable stations. If so, they're missing the bandwagon I think.

Date: 2011-05-20 03:05 am (UTC)Fox does summer shows (I think most of the major networks do) but they are all reality based shows. Like Fox does So You Think You Can Dance (yes, I do watch that, why do you ask?) and stuff like that...but as far as I know, no dramas or comedies or whatever. And yes, they are missing the bandwagon on that. Agreed.
Speaking of, have you seen the ads for FX's summer show "Wilfred"? The more ads I see, the more it grows on me. I think I'm gonna watch it.

Date: 2011-05-23 01:45 am (UTC)Oh yes, Wilfred. I'm looking forward to it. It looks like absolute crack. Plus, Elijah Wood. Apparently, it's based on an Australian show that has done amazingly well down there. Hope the US translation of it lives up to the hype.

Date: 2011-05-26 03:51 am (UTC)But I also watch some TLC type reality shows - Hoarders and Animal Hoarders and What Not To Wear. We used to watch Animal Cops Detroit, but all the dog fighting had my sister so upset, we gave it up.
I didn't know that Wilfred is based on an Australian show. Yeah, I will go for anything with Elijah Wood in it - I've just always thought he was an amazing actor, ever since he was a kid. Plus, I imagine the fanfic that will come out of this show about him and his dog, will be crackilicious. ;)
