Distracted By Something Shiny

Saw one of those memes going around - “Post the first line/paragraph of your last 20 fics.” I never post in the order that I write - my organization is mayhem - but I have this folder of finished fics that are just waiting for a final read-thru and some header info and I happen to have 20 fics in there, so that’s where I’m pulling these lines from. Eventually, I might get around to posting the stories themselves!

Jared was a pretty good roommate, Jensen had to admit that. He hung up his bathroom towels and rinsed off his dirty dishes and most importantly, he took Jensen to parties that had liquor - the good kind, not the piss-water beer Jensen’s friends always served.

I may have had to re-read some of these as I was doing this meme. Like idk what it says about me, but I really like my own stories a lot. Have a go, if you like!

So, I had a few dreams recently in which I was a teenager, which is pretty normal for me. Idk what that says about me, that I often dream myself as a teenager, but whatever.

In one, my BFF was Chad Michael Murray, also a teenager. He helped me get a job at a historical artifacts museum where he worked too. Apparently all of our friends knew we were meant to be, but we were clueless and just thought ourselves BFFs. One night we broke in to the museum with a bunch of our friends to have a little drinking party. While there, some thieves busted in to rob the place and we had to fight them off ala Home Alone. For some reason, I think they had a bear with them. IDEK. But we were in serious danger and they almost killed us and Chad and I were separated and frantically trying to get to each other and then we realized like, “Oh shit, we aren’t just BFFs, we are in love.” So after we got away and were standing outside in the cold night with all our friends, we kept looking shyly at each other, trying to size the other one’s feelings up. Eventually there was kissing and then I took him to the farm to meet my grandma. Yep. My brain wrote self-insert HS AU fanfic about me and Chad Michael Murray.

The Kids at therapy are so fucking adorable. I just want to give them cookies and scruff up their hair. (I called them The Kids because they are both 19 and have the same first name i.e. ‘Kid’. It's kind of like they are Thing 1 and 2. OMG, I could call them Thing 1 and Thing 2!!)

I can never tell if they are being sincere or poking fun - this is what years in my family has done, I assume every comment is sarcastic! But I'm still going to sing-along regardless, because 'whatever, I do what I want!'

So I voted on the People’s Choice Awards for the first time in my life. Walking Dead FTW!! I really just went over there to browse, but I ended up voting in a few categories. Walking Dead was up under Sci-Fi and Cable Drama, so I voted there. If Justified had been up for a cable drama, I might have had to go that route, but it wasn’t, so…TWD FTW!!! But what I really want to talk about is the movie ‘on-screen chemistry’ category. It was about chemistry and I was hoping there might be some same-sex options in there - (I friend-ship the hell out of Tony-Bruce, but I couldn’t really think of any others from recent movies that I wanted to see in there). The nominations made it clear that it wasn’t just romantic options, because Jeremy/Scarlett were on the list - (they did have amazing chemistry together, didn’t they?). Even without RDjr-Ruffalo, I say that the People’s Choice Awards get kudos for progressiveness...because there was a Threesome option!!! Remember while I was reading the Hunger Games and I was like, “Omg, Gale/Katniss!” and then after the movie I was all, “Omg, Peeta/Katniss!” and then I was like, “What do I do? Oh right, OT3!” and then I freaked out at therapy in front of that old lady? Yeah - Jennifer/Josh/Liam - OT3 FTW!! I totally voted for them. It actually doesn’t seem quite right though, because I don’t think Josh and Liam had any screen time together - (did they?). They just didn’t want to divide up the ‘ships - (like me, someone at the PCAs couldn’t pick either!) - and anyways, I support threesomes! I was kind of bummed to see Community didn’t get a nomination though. Anyhoo, now I guess I have to pay attention to the winners. Though I am still not watching the actual awards show.

And now…fic! I have no Thanksgiving story this year - (I did like one year and that is it) - but this year I have written in several new fandoms. I have three stories ready to go and I thought I would post one on like Monday. Now I just can’t decide which one to go with. So I am just going to put up a bit from each fic without telling you what new fandom of mine it is in and then let you pick which one grabs your interest more. Mostly this is just a more fun way for me to decide, rather than doing eeny-meeny-miny-mo.

Finally, Jeremy Renner is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend! Tivo is set to go!

That’s right, I said A Hot Pink Princess Tiara Piñata. Thirty-three isn’t too old for one of those, is it?

So, my sister went shopping for party supplies for The Nephew’s birthday a few weeks ago and came back to report that they had a purple castle piñata at the store. Me and The BFF made noises of delight and then we all laughed. After a few minutes of sitting and staring blankly at whatever was on the TV - (our favorite show - Without a Criminal Bones: SVU) - in utter silence, The BFF says, "Dammit, now I want a piñata." My sister replies, "I’ll see what I can do."

I think nothing more of it.

Only to awaken on my birthday to find a hot pink princess tiara piñata hanging from the light fixture in the kitchen.

You want to know something? I had never done a piñata before. Not just for my own birthday, but not even at anyone’s else party either. At thirty-three, I found that a sad fact. WHICH HAS NOW BEEN RECTIFIED!!! I totally put a crack in it myself, but it was The BFF who sent it flying and exploding everywhere while my sister frantically grabbed for candy. Then disappointed that she hadn’t gotten a turn, my sister proceeded to beat on the damn thing even after it was dead.

I have to say, beating things with sticks is a great stress reliever. Ya’ll should try it at some point in your life, if you never have or don’t regularly beat things with sticks.

Also, I think you guys all rule, so let me say thanks one more time...( for my birthday messages and LJ gifts and also there are a few recs for things what I got for my birthday behind this cut. )

Did I forget anyone? I hope not. Let me reiterate - YOU ARE ALL MADE OF AWESOMESAUCE AND IT IS DELICIOUS! Things happened over the weekend, I shall report later. But right now I have to go eat chicken and I believe we are starting "Life on Mars" tonight.
