I May Have Been Cuter Then.

Yes, it is my birthday today! (I've gotten some lovely messages today from all of you, which I will respond to tomorrow, but it occurs to me that I should put up a post or something).
On Saturday we had to go visit my dad, so I managed to get some coney dogs out of my sister, from the ice cream place down the street from my childhood home. Arguably the best coney dogs ever. And my dad was in a pretty good mood, so that was good.
Yesterday we watched "Hotel Rwanda". I rec you all watch this movie - you need too. But be prepared, I couldn't stop crying. At one point I opened my mouth to say I wanted to turn it off, but I managed to brave through it. Remarkable story. I am interested in the commentary, which has the actual dude on it with the director and stuff. My husband, Joaquin, was in it a very little bit, but he looked really good. Apparently, I like the beard. The moment when he was getting on the bus - lord, break my heart.
Neither of those were really birthday things but I just wanted to share.
Then today The BFF - (it's also her birthday, how awesome is that?! Seriously.) - and I went to see "Pirates 4". I guess I'll spoiler cut even though I have only thirteen words for you.
Zombie Pirates, Face Eating Mermaids, Ian McShane in Eyeliner and Captain Jack Sparrow.
Nothing will ever be the first Pirates, but it was fun. Penelope had amazing clothes - how I want to be a pirate. Ian McShane was very Al Swearengen, it was awesome. Jack/Gibbs 4evah. Okay...
Then my mom came over with my favorite chocolate cake. Delicious. I will vent about how she is crazy later - this is not the time. We mustn't despair. Not on Rex Manning Day.
So, now...you will most likely never see me post a pic of my grown-up self, probably, but let me share with you now...this pic of me as a baby.

This is the first time I took more than one step at a time. My sister was holding my hands and then let go of me and I just kept walking. See, it was always her job to teach me the important things in life. Also, though I never took dance classes or anything, I am a bit of a dance-geek - as is evidenced here, by the fact that I took my first major steps in a tutu.
Lastly, I take pride in being a bit hobbity. Also, my first online fandom was "Lord of the Rings". Today being my 33rd birthday, as you well know, means that in Hobbit years, I have finally come of age. That's right - it is my Coming of Age today. Also, as is Hobbit tradition, I am required to give presents to all of you on my own birthday.
So, later, after I chill out for a bit - there shall be fic. I managed to work "Supernatural" and "Lord of the Rings" into a fic together - but not as a crossover. ;)
So come back for that later.
Cool.

Date: 2011-05-27 01:54 am (UTC)I am always looking for more "Celebration" or "Happy" icons, and the Winchester brothers being happy is always high on my list! I totally grabbed it (and the Robin Hood cartoon icons too! heehee)

Date: 2011-05-25 10:20 pm (UTC)Sadly, no Jensen and Misha - though I did spend a good portion of birthday thinking about them. Of course, around here, we just call that Monday. And Tuesday. And...you get the point.
So...this ribbon that was to be tied around Jensen and Misha - can I pick which body part we tie that around? Also, I would share, bb - you know I think
threesomesfoursomes are the answer to everything - but you live in another country, so I guess you're out of luck, if they do ever show up on my doorstep, that is. So... 8pedited because i totally know how to code, duh

Date: 2011-05-27 02:11 am (UTC)Of course, you are right, they have money - so the logical conclusion is for the three boys (can't forget Jared) to take me and fly us all out to your place, where we will rent a car and go to Wolfie's.
And fun will ensue.
Sound like a plan?
Cool.

Date: 2011-05-25 12:46 pm (UTC)I've sort of seen Hotel Rwanda, that is a damn tough movie to get through. The fact that it's real makes it so damn horrifying. I'm glad the movie exists though, things like that are important.
So, what you're saying is that Pirates 4 is worth going to see? *g*
Oh! look at you! what a cute little thing you were! The tutu makes the whole outfit. lol

Date: 2011-05-25 10:28 pm (UTC)I am very interested in maybe reading something about Hotel Rwanda, but we'll see how I do with the commentary. The movie was hard to watch, but it was very well done and according to the actal guy, they only minorly changed one thing to add to the story-telling - which is impressive for the movie makers but very sad for the actual people.
Also, it felt shallow of me to notice how good my husband looked in that movie, considering the topic of the movie - but, you know, it helped me get through watching it.
hahaha Pirates 4 was fun! It could have been a good 30 minutes shorter was my only complaint. I think they did a good idea making it a completely different story, like a stand-alone adventure story for Capt Jack. As far as I'm concerned, or Johnny Depp from what I hear, they can keep making the Fantastic Adventures Of Captain Jack Sparrow for years.
I think I had the cutest little nose, for some reason. The tutu makes the whole outfit. Tutus always do make the outfit, bb! lol

Date: 2011-05-26 08:51 pm (UTC)Your baby self was cute! :)
I just saw Pirates 4 yesterday, and my favorite part was the Priest/the Mermaid. Oh, and Jack Sparrow, ofc. :P

Date: 2011-05-27 02:19 am (UTC)Thank you - I think I was pretty damn cute. ;) I had to edit my sister out of this picture, but she was in her full-on ballet costume, it's adorable.
I was oddly into the Priest/Mermaid too. I thought the Mermaids themselves, when they attacked in the water, was one of the coolest things ever. Also, I love how the movie ended with Jack and Gibbs walking along the beach into the sunset, lol. But I missed The Black Pearl!
Just the soundtrack score for the Pirates movie gets me excited!

Date: 2011-05-27 06:08 pm (UTC)The Mermaids were pretty damn cool! And Jack and Gibbs walking into the sunset was great! :) Yeah, I missed the Black Pearl too. She's important, dammit!
Haha, the soundtrack is awesome!

hahaha - do you watch "What Not To Wear"? I can just hear the male host of that show totally saying this! I was a fashionable baby after all! ;)
