Over Rock And Under Tree!
Apr. 11th, 2011 09:43 pmI had lots of things to report, but let's just do all the good things today.
I just got back from a trip to Chicago - (well, I got back yesterday, but I couldn't post then, because it was Bad Natural Disaster Movie Day on SyFy and I had important things to watch like "NYC: Tornado Terror"! I spent a good deal of my evening watching bad movies and writing a J2 AU Natural Disaster Movie in my head).
Anyway, I went to see
hiyacynth and her new baby boy! He is three weeks old and wee and cute and perfect. Seriously, besides the fact that they are juicy delicious - I love baby toes! They are like the cutest things ever. I have great aspirations to warp this child into a total geek fan-boy - and given his kickass parents, I see this as an obtainable goal.
My sister dressedMunchy P Campbell - (I have to remember that he has a name now!) - up in ridiculous outfits and forced him to pose for her. Yeah, it has begun.
hiyacynth herself looked amazing and we had a lovely dinner with her, her husband and the baby. There was much discussion of "Deadwood" - which reminds me that I have to catch up on all the things I missed - (I believe I was on the morphine at the time we marathoned it, I slept during a lot of it). I also learned via
hiyacynth's husband that Smaug made Forbes' list of wealthiest fictional characters. Smaug beats out Bruce Wayne, but not Tony Stark. After dinner, my sister went to have a beer with her college roommate and I had serious discussions about fandom ridiculousness with The BFF while we watched House on mute - which is basically a typical day for us. :)
Of course, now my ovaries ache to reproduce and yet JDM isn't coming to Michigan this month - bummer. I hear all he has to do is set foot in your state and you can become immediately impregnated - he is just that awesome. Maybe that's an urban legend.
In Other Travel News - I think I am actually going to my friend's wedding this summer!!!!!! I had started saving my money, just in case I found a way to go, but since I physically can't go alone, I didn't figure I would get to. Today The BFF asked if I would like her to go with me, as my plus one, for my birthday gift. OMG, YOU GUYS! I have known my friend, David, since I was 19. He has been with his boyfriend for almost ten years. I love these guys and I so wanted to be there to support them. Plus, trip to Vermont! With The BFF! I am so excited. THERE AREN'T ENOUGH EXCLAMATION POINTS TO CONVEY MY EXCITEMENT.
Honestly, I was very bummed lately about my birthday in general and the state of my life. Thirty-Three is your Hobbit coming-of-age after all, and I had a list of things to choose from to do to celebrate my birthday. They were all things I can't do but would have been able to do after the surgery - (my way of cheerleading myself into having my knee surgery by reminding myself all the things I'd be able to do after I healed). I was suppose to spend my last birthday in the hospital recovering from the surgery and I had this image in my head of where I would be by the time this birthday rolled around. But then the doctor refused to do the knee surgery. As you can imagine, it has been kind of depressing.
Going to my friend's wedding by no means fixes my state of "what the hell am I doing with my life and how do I get the things I want?" - but at least I have something AWESOME to do for my birthday this year! (or, you know, a month after my birthday, which is when his actual wedding is).
So, yay all of that! I also had lots of things to say about series two of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" (TOPH!) and "Camelot" (omg the second episode wtf!!!) and "Breaking In" (JUST WATCH IT!!!) and how the second episode of "Chaos" was much better and how much I love, love "Being Human (yes, the SyFy one) - but now I have to go because H50 is back tonight and from the previews it looks like it will be a Chin-centric storyline with some sideline Steve/Danny Hurt/Comfort!
ETA: OMG, H50 has started and are they seriously trying to convince me that Danny is a Yankees fan?! WTF! No. Because I can't be in love wtih someone who is a Yankees fan. Like, ever. Also, Danny would be a Mets fan - dude, for real. Whatever. Though Danny should wear tee shirts All The Time! And DID HE JUST SIGN A GIANT HEART AT STEVE?!?! And look, it's Ando from "Heroes"! Erm, I mean, this reminds me also...TIGERS WON OPENING DAY AT COMERICA PARK - THAT'S MY BOYS!!
ETA 2: The episode has ended now and omg - Danny, could you be more of a jealous little bitch over the fact that the hot waitress chick wanted to sign your boyfriend's cast? Seriously. And Chin and Kono - Cousins...my ass. Excellent episode.

Date: 2011-04-19 09:54 pm (UTC)I am getting my enhanced id this week, so we can take the trip to Vermont by going through Canada, which is apparently much faster. I actually really like road trips a lot and it will be nice to have a vacation with my best friend, aside from getting to go to the wedding. I'm still kind of ridiculously excited about the whole thing.

Date: 2011-04-19 09:58 pm (UTC)The place they are having the wedding is like this old fashioned Bed and Breakfast cottage place - I think it looks beautiful and I will def post pictures of it - (it already has spawned J2 and Dean/Cas ideas in my head - why is my brain overrun by fanfic?) :)

Date: 2011-04-14 06:44 pm (UTC)Tell me how the writers can explain the I heart you sign language unless it is deliberately to incite slash?

Date: 2011-04-19 10:03 pm (UTC)Usually it takes a few seasons for the writers to become aware of fandom and slash on a show. But they are clearly aware. This only leads me to believe that they have a secret fangirl (or boy) slash writer on their staff. Yes?

Date: 2011-04-15 10:53 am (UTC)Second, I'm so thrilled for you!!! I know you really wanted to go to the wedding. You have an amazing BFF. I'm sure you guys will have an amazing time. I don't know if you've ever been to the northeast, but it's beautiful. Plus, you know, wedding, those are always fun.
Oh! Breaking In! Very much enjoying it! Christian Slater's character is the bomb. :) And yes, ep 01x02 of Chaos was much better than the first. I was on the fence with the show, but now I'm sure I like it.
Though Danny should wear tee shirts All The Time! YES! *nods vigorously* we need to start a campaign to convince the directors to only dress him in tight fitting tee shirts from now on. It would be for the good of the show.
I swear the writers are trying to make the show gayer than christmas. All I can think is someone on staff is aware of internet fandom culture and is also a f'ing brilliant writer. Otherwise I don't think it would come off as well as it does.
The whole episode was made of win. Gah, I could flail around about all the things I liked in the episode for paragraphs.

Date: 2011-04-19 10:19 pm (UTC)Thanks! At first I had my travel icon as the Entourage boys in the car, but then I realized that I had a subject line from Bilbo's song and I should use The Hobbits. I have lots of icons of traveling hobbits, after all.
I am so excited about the wedding! I am not really a person who enjoys weddings and I don't get all sappy and shit about them - but this feels so different because this is the person who has been there for me the longest in my life (outside of family obvs). I met him back when I tended to try to push people away and no matter how hard I pushed, he just wouldn't go anywhere. Plus, I get to take a vacation, which I didn't think I was doing this year, cuz no SPN convention for me (which is my usual vacation). And road trips! I love road trips.
Cam (the new kid) is my fav character on Breaking In. But Oz is my second fav character. Is it good or bad that I can already see slash potential there?
The third episode of Chaos was the best so far! I think I said the other day that Casey Malik is my favorite. I am also excited about Kurtwood Smith getting so much screen time as the CIA boss guy. He is one of my favorite tv actors.
H5O - I get that Danny as a character is making a point with his buttonups and his ties - but Scott Caan can rock a pair of jeans in a way that can't be legal. He should do it more often! He is in Hawaii for crying out loud - loosen it up, bb! I agree that someone on the show is aware of fandom and slash - it usually takes a season or two before the show runners become aware of their fandom following, but someone there already knows exactly what they are doing to us. I think they must have a secret fanfic writer on staff. You should check out
PS: Does The Boy watch H5O too?

Date: 2011-04-22 02:46 am (UTC)Chaos - I was squeeing all over the place over the third episode! I'm not sure I have a favorite character yet. I think I mentioned somewhere I'm a little disappointed the fight scenes aren't better, but the rest of the show is pretty good.
H5O - Scott Caan has some fantastic forearms is all I'm saying. They seemed to be on the slash wagon right off the bat, so I'm thinking some one on staff is aware of fandom and wanted to tap that audience right off the bat. I've seen
The Boy and I watch all our tv together except Justified is all me and Monster Bug Wars is all him. He wasn't watching H5O with me originally, but he sat through an ep with me after we watched some other program and he was hooked. He even ships Steve/Danny lol.

Date: 2011-04-23 11:59 am (UTC)I haven't watched Michael Rosenbaum in anything since the first couple of seasons of Smallville so it's insanely hilarious in my brain that Lex Luthor is hopping around like a frat boy.
Oh gods, I just had a plot bunny. Lionel has brainwashed and made so many clones of Lex (at least in fandom) that it'd be perfectly reasonable to assume Dutch is an escaped clone (or even the real deal) of Lex Luthor and that's why the expensive tastes and excellent wooing of women. Thank all the little gods I don't have any desire to re-dip my toes into Smallville fandom lol.

Date: 2011-04-28 02:33 am (UTC)Plus, there is actually a comic book where the crime of the day that Lex is committing is to steal FORTY CAKES from some bakery. My sister says, "Let's not forgot, Lex stole forty cakes. Tell me that's not the kind of shit Rosenbaum does for fun." (She doesn't watch the show, Breaking In, so I think in her head it is just Rosenbaum and Slater sitting around smoking weed, and throwing food items at Bret Harrison's head - which honestly isn't too far off). ;)
Now I want this crack story!!!

Date: 2011-05-01 05:35 am (UTC)I know, I would so watch that version of the show too! I hope it lasts long enough to get DVDs so we can get excellent gag reels from Breaking In.
