So, Sis and I just came up with a game plan for our TV watching. We just finished the first half of Sleepy Hollow's current season. Next we are watching The Guild, before Netflix drops it at the end of the month. Sis has seen it before, but I haven't and she wants to watch it again. Then we are watching the last half of the last season (sobsobsob) of Lost Girl. It just came back for the final eps, but we are gonna let it stack up, so we can get to The Guild. After Lost Girl, we'll watch the second half of Sleepy Hollow. And also, in there we'll watch Agents of Shield, but we will watch that as it airs. I need to keep up with it, because The Canadian Brother calls me every Sunday to talk about it. We'll watch The Walking Dead each week, once that comes back. And we watch Arrow each week with The BFF. Plus, Hoarders, which we do both episodes the day after they air. If she could stay up late enough, we'd watch them in real time, because it's my sister's (oddly) comfort show. And we watch The Nightly Show as well.

For me, I still have shows stacked up, too many to count, so I shouldn't be trying new shows, like Legends of Tomorrow, and I still haven't decided for sure to stick with it but the second ep the team really gelled a lot more, so for now, I am watching that. I also watch The Flash (with The BFF), The Fosters, Reign, Tiny House Hunters and Legends of Tomorrow. I just finished the last and final season of Legend of Korra (who wants to talk about that with me?!) so I can add one other show this week. I'm holding onto Teen Wolf and Colony, gonna let them stack up, but I need to watch either Agent Carter or The X-Files. (Sis is watching The XFiles too, but we don't watch together because she has too many feelings and is waaaaay too overstimulated. I'm not even allowed to talk about it with her because her face goes all red and she has to run out of the room. I'm not mocking, I understand, but this means I haven't gotten around to starting it). I also need to get caught up on my stacked up Hawaii Five-O, Chicago Fire, Law & Order SVU, Gotham & s2 of The Strain (I LOVED s1). Plus, I really want to watch s1 of 12 Monkeys again. We just watched the original movie and it has made me want the TV show again. Also, my current nighttime/in-bed Netflix show is Dance Academy's s2.

So, while we are talking about TV, have any of you tried the new show You, Me & The Apocalypse? Sis is interested and I remember being a little interested too when I heard of it, but I got so behind on TV that I cut it off the list. I know it already started, but we can catch up, if anyone thinks it's worth it. Anyone? But yeah, if you add it up, it's about a dozen shows at any give time for me, which I realize is a hella lot, but whatevs.

The Nephew’s birthday is on Sunday. This means Sunday is Mother’s Day, The Nephew’s 6th birthday and my 2nd LJ anniversary. His party is Saturday. They are having it at a park so here’s crossing my fingers that is doesn’t rain and that it isn’t as cold as the last time. It is a robot theme party, so my sister made a giant robot costume out of a box. (yes, there will be pictures). The last time she turned a box into a robot he was 2 (maybe 3) and he was terrified of it. I hope he thinks it is awesome this time because I am worried he is too old for robot-boxes and my sister will be so disappointed if he doesn’t love it.

Here I brag about my nephew and The Avengers story I wrote for him. )

I’ll try to put the fic up on Monday. Also, Sunday is my LJ anniversary and I will be doing the Fictional Story Meme where you all leave me little stories about some crazy adventure the two of us got up to together (hence the fictional part of the meme). Now I am off to bed early so I can get up for the birthday party. Night all.

First, thanks to everyone who sent well wishes to my mom! I really appreciate it, you guys.

Updates under the cut. )

Finally, thanks to all the lovelies who sent me blue dragons!! [livejournal.com profile] lizibabes, [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis, [livejournal.com profile] vikingprincess, [livejournal.com profile] fragrantwoods and [livejournal.com profile] denig37 - you guys made my day - (it was so random because it wasn't a holiday, and I was pleasantly surprised). You guys probably don't know that I love dragons. I do. Michael Hague is my favorite illustrator and I have The Book Of Dragons that he illustrated. It was like the best day when I found out Hague had illustrated dragons.

So now I will pose to you all the question that The Nephew always poses to me whenever we get to talking about dragons...

[Poll #1823005]

I should have included a "something else entirely I will tell you in comments" option.

Anyways, tomorrow my plan is to catch up on comments and my Flist...or do nothing. Right now I am leaning more towards doing nothing. Tonight my plan is to sleep.

First, for excellent news about my favorite fangirl in the whole wide world forever - THE BFF GOT A JOB!!! It is a temporary thing, but long term temp, so at least three months. And it is in the exact same building as my sister, so they are driving to work together - yay carpooling! I am sad though that this means we have to slow down on our rewatch of Torchwood.

In other fangirl news - The Little Girl Cousin is well on her way to full-blown fangirl. She is seven now and I babysat her recently. I asked her if she wanted to play Uno. She said yes. I said that after Uno we could watch some “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. This is her current favorite show and she will wax on about how Sokka is her favorite guy in the whole world. She has such a crush. She then decides she wants to watch Airbender first and then play Uno. We watch two episodes. Then she asks for another. I am all, "Don’t you want to play Uno now? Do something else?" - "No, another one!!" - One episode later - "Don’t you want to play Uno now? Do something else?" - "No, another one!!"

For four hours straight. A hardcore fangirl marathon, you guys.

She would say all of Sokka's lines right before he said them. I told her that I really wanted Katara/Zuko to be boyfriend & girlfriend. She said, "No, Mai is Zuko's girlfriend. Katara has to be girlfriend and boyfriend with Aang." I said I liked Aang, but I thought Zuko was a better boyfriend for Katara. "But that's not what happens," she says and then I can see her little mind turning it over, like the possibility that maybe she could hope for something that didn't actually happen on the show. I will make a shipper out of her yet!!

I feel so happy to see her fangirl out over this show. I think back to when I was seven and 100% head-over heels in love with “The A-Team”. I thought about it falling asleep at night, made up my own secret pretend worlds for it, wrote my first fanfic about it in my diary when I didn't even know what fanfic was, had my Murdock baseball hat and bomber jacket, rabidly pounced any helicopter pilots I came into contact with at the hospital and made them listen to me talk about Murdock...

And now, many many years and many fandoms later, I think back on my first full-blown obsession with such fondness and delight, and it makes me unbelievably happy to think that in 25 years, The Little Girl Cousin will be fanning over some show and someone will ask her what her first fandom was and she will say, "Avatar: The Last Airbender. I was seven and madly in love with Sokka."

<3 for fangirls!

I had lots of things to report, but let's just do all the good things today.

All of them have to do with Travel! )

So, yay all of that! I also had lots of things to say about series two of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" (TOPH!) and "Camelot" (omg the second episode wtf!!!) and "Breaking In" (JUST WATCH IT!!!) and how the second episode of "Chaos" was much better and how much I love, love "Being Human (yes, the SyFy one) - but now I have to go because H50 is back tonight and from the previews it looks like it will be a Chin-centric storyline with some sideline Steve/Danny Hurt/Comfort!

ETA: OMG, H50 has started and are they seriously trying to convince me that Danny is a Yankees fan?! H50 Spoiler Cut ) Erm, I mean, this reminds me also...TIGERS WON OPENING DAY AT COMERICA PARK - THAT'S MY BOYS!!

ETA 2: The episode has ended now and omg - H50 Spoiler Cut #2 ) Excellent episode.

Bonus Points if you get my subject line.

Weather in Michigan... )

The rest of my weekend with The Nephew, including How To Train Your Dragon... )

This was my weekend. It was pretty good, if not exhausting. Hopefully tomorrow there will be enough time after taking The Nephew home for me to go get my new glasses, so I can better see the TV and thus kick my sister's butt at video games.

Provided we can get out of our house in the morning and that there aren't wolves escaped from the zoo and floods and Jake Gyllenhaal on our doorstep (I would be okay with that though, honestly).

In the amount of time it took me to spell-check this, the sleet has started up again and is shaking the windows (part of that is the wind but still, it's like tiny little gnomes are using their Parker-esque thieving tools to tap their way into our house. Gnomes scare me).

So, first, let me explain my family dynamics a little. I have double-cousins. Two brothers married two sisters (as in, my dad's older brother married my mom's younger sister). Mom and Dad had four kids - aunt and uncle had four kids. And we were practically raised together. There was a lot of "you take the girls tonight and I'll take the boys," or "you take the older set and I'll take the younger."

So, we were all pretty close growing up and we joke that our DNA would surprise a CSI guy, if we were ever horribly murdered by each other.

So, I consider this girl my niece, but on the off chance I ever actually talk about my Canadian brother's kid in this LJ, we'll just call her the Little Girl Cousin (not to be confused with The Cousin, who is a girl, but is fifteen and thus not little.)

The Little Girl Cousin is six.

She is having a sleepover in our living room tonight with The Nephew and every other word out of this kid's mouth is "Avatar"

Avatar, Avatar, Avatar.

"Oh," I said, "I've only seen the first four episodes. I just started it."

"No, not that Avatar!"

"I know which Avatar you mean. I have it in my room."

/Little Girl Cousin rolls her eyes/ "No, not the one with those blue people and the trees. I mean the good Avatar! With Sokka. I love Sokka. He's my favorite. Do you know Sokka?"

Then later, she asks if Atreyu from The Never-Ending Story is a girl and I said, "No, he just has pretty hair. Doesn't he have pretty hair?"

"Yeah. Like Spencer from ICarly. He has pretty hair like a girl."

Then later, she sees my Supernatural stuff in my room and says, "Hey, you like Sam and Dean?"

"Yes, I love them."

"Me too. They're cool with like demons and all kinds of stuff! Hey, you have Harry Potter too! And Batman!"

(It's not like she's never been in my room before, lol.)

Anyway, I usually buy something for her older brother when I go to SPN convention, but I think she's old enough now to get her very first Sam and Dean t-shirt.

I was also told by her older brother that I need to hurry up with his season one of Avatar, he's "gonna need that back real quick". Ten year olds, sheesh.

PS - Does it bother anyone else that the RockBiter in The Never-Ending Story is made of rocks and yet he eats rocks too? Isn't that cannibalism? In a children's movie? Just sayin'.
