Scandal!

So, first I started streaming Parenthood through Neflix and I LOVE it! I adore their whole dysfunctional functional family. Ad who would have ever thought I'd like Dax Shepherd - I mean, the Punk'd guy? But I love his character so much! And the kid who plays Max deserves a freaking Emmy! It's so easy to mainline too. But I figured I should take a break and watch a season of something else before I go back to Parenthood.

I tried Bitten, from D's recommendation. I did not like it. First of all, the idea that there aren't very many female werewolves because they aren't strong enough to survive the 'change'? I call bullshit. Do you know what women have to endure with our stupid bodies? So sexist, man. And also, Clay wishes he was Dyson Thornwood. But he isn't. I watched four eps and quit that. Then I decided to try Scandal, per Guy Therapist's recommendation when we were talking about wanting more female leads and 3-dimensional female characters. I am IN LOVE with this show. It's giving me the fresh new shiny toy feeling of love!

Since Guy Therapist is working at the other clinic these days, I decided to pop him an email and tell him exactly how I felt about this show he recommended. For your reading pleasure, here is my freak-out...Vague spoilers for Scandal S1 under the cut. )

For all my West Wing peeps out there, I highly recommend Scandal, available now on Netflix!

Hello all! Quick update - Feeling better cough-wise, not 100%, but finally got someone to take some action on a treatment for me. Body is failing me due to many days in bed and inactivity - very bad for the arthritis. Boo that, but it'll stretch out as I get back on my feet, I think. Hoping to maybe get to see The Hobbit some time in the next week, as I haven't felt well enough to go yet. (it's driving me up the walls not to have seen it yet!) Missed most of the family holiday gatherings due to sickness, but other than missing the kids (and not getting The Nephew's project finished) I was mostly okay with staying home for that stuff. Did attend a small fraction of the extended family gathering and that is a whole story unto itself. Also have some therapy stories for you and hopefully my sister will relay enough of her trip this weekend to see The Hobbit with The Nephew for me to make a post on that. I did not get around to Christmas cards this year, but I bought them, so I'll save them and try again next year!

Anyways, I was going to put up pictures of Zippo, The Christmas Queen, for you all, as I did that over on Tumblr, but LJ doesn't seem to want to let me upload any new photos to my scrapbook. Anybody know what's up? It offers me my all-ready made scrapbook albums or a Dropbox option (for which I do not have an account) but no 'upload from computer' or whatever. What's the deal, LJ? So, until I figure that out, it means I can only post pictures I already have loaded. Which I guess means I just have to spam you with every Christmasy picture I have in my scrapbook! Enjoy!

I hope to be back around these parts by the turn of the year, fingers crossed and all that. I just haven't wanted to push myself, but I miss you guys muchly. Hope you are all well and that the holidays treated you splendidly, as you all deserve it!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Should I have an Obama icon? Well I don't, so have this West Wing icon instead.

I wanted to put up a picture of President Obama today for his inauguration and my sister helpfully pointed out that it is also Martin Luther King Day - (which is why she's home from work) - so this seemed the perfect choice.

It's rather stunning, isn't it?

Here's a link to more beautiful pictures from Obama's first term in office.

Happy Monday to you all!

OBAMA WON! Like you all don't know by now, but still...WHOOT-WHOOT! AWESOME. I was getting a little nervous last night, I have to be honest. I was thinking about if Romney/Ryan won and made some cuts to government services for people. Which then of course led me to the thought of 'What if my mother has to move in with us?' It's a nightmare I have often actually. But we won!!!! Now I can rest easy and also, no more robocalls! Today was the first time in a month that I woke to find the answering machine light not blinking.

I think we should all celebrate like Obama’s Anger Translator and DANCE!!!!!

Check out some of the other ones, like Key & Peele: Obama on Halo 4. These dudes are hysterical.

My sister also sent me this little snippet from an article about negative politics awhile back and it made me laugh. Craig Ferguson ended up talking about this on his show the other night and I thought I’d dig it back out for you all. Politics has always been a cut throat business, hasn’t it?

From a story about past negative elections. )

And for those of you outside of Michigan who watched that hysterical West Wing video, I thought I would let you know that Bridget Mary McCormack won her seat on the bench. And now I don’t have to think about politics again for at least a year, right?

Election Day is almost here! This means that the phone will finally stop ringing ten times a day. It'll go back to like the normal two or three calls I get from my mother every day.

So get ready to vote...or Samuel L. Jackson will break into your house and yell at you! Seriously, how is this man so badass?

Also, don't forget to vote in the non-partisan section of your ballot. I just get really excited when The West Wing peeps say the word 'Michigan', okay? And I totally got goosebumps when President Bartlet said, "What's next?" /sigh/ This show still owns me. Also, I think Toby has gotten sexier. The grey beard really works for me.

Last night I watched Eurotrip, the movie. Has anyone seen this? Michelle Trachtenberg is so freaking adorable, I want to squish her. I think Travis Wester's character was my favorite though. It was a fun movie - zany but heartfelt. Also, Matt Damon plays a punk rocker with earrings, a lip ring, a neck tattoo, a band and a pretty catchy song. It was a hilarious cameo.

Just wanted to pop in say Happy Holidays to all my peeps.

These pictures were taken last Christmas. These are two of my three cats - Papa Bear in the first photo and Roo in the second photo. My third Cat, Krycek aka Big Buddy, refuses to pose for anything unless he's caught unaware and asleep. ;)

My icon is apropos to nothing, but I love his squishy face. /sigh/

So, last week I decided to write 500 words/a half hour everyday. I lasted three days. Not so good.

However - 500 words a day for seven days is...3,500 words. And I actually ended up writing 4,222 words in total.

So not a stellar week, but far more than I have written in one week in ages.

I'm going to call it a thumbs up.

So I had this dream...about The West Wing and an Apocalyptic earthquake. )

...And I wake up.

Most exciting dream ever.

In Sum: I also had a dream where I was at an Adam Sandler concert and I was so excited to be there and just hanging out with my guy cousin. Adam played a thoroughly rockin' song which he said was titled "Bad Omen", after which I realized that Adam Sandler isn't actually a RockGod and can't really play like he is AC/DC, and thus my logical brain sussed out that it was a dream.

So, during a discussion with someone else, it came up that I both watch "Supernatural" and enjoy Supernatural Fandom with my RL best friend. It has happened a few times that I got shocked reactions from my Fandom-Peeps that I would share my secret fandom-ness with a RL person - namely The BFF.

But the thing is, I met The BFF through Fandom. And it was her that got me into "Supernatural" in the first place. And that led me to wonder how everyone else got started watching whatever their current obsession Show is.

So, here is my story, about how I got started watching Supernatural. )

And now I have Supernatural in my life...and I stumble alone in the dark no longer.

So...what is the one show you are watching right now that you would declare to be Your Show? And how is it that you discovered Your Show in the first place? Do you share it with anyone in your RL?

Also, I just excitedly realized that this is the kind of question you can repost in your journal! So, respond in my comments or answer in your own journal and ask your flist about their Shows.

In Sum: I heart Supernatural.
