I bought The Nephew some Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books for his birthday - (my brothers and I used to be so into those as kids) - and I just read through one to see if it was any good. I went on three different adventures in the same book and got three different endings; the embassy sent me back to the United States and I had to give up my quest for the mysterious jewels, I got inducted into a secret society, and I died. Pretty fun!

Also, I watched the season finale of Vikings yesterday and I have a few things to say...Gyda!! Athelstan's face! His stupid face. /clutches him to my chest/ JFC, Ragnar, you are an asshole. This show is so fucking good! I am impressed with The History Channel.

I watched this week's Chicago Fire as well. I was not onboard with that storyline about Severide at all, for Reasons, but I thought the way he brought it to a head this week was pretty fucking awesome. I loved everything between Herrmann and Boden. Seriously, cartoon hearts appear in my vision every time Herrmann is on screen. I am so confused by him though - do I want him to marry me or adopt me? IDK! I haven't been this confused about a man since Bobby Singer. It was just a really good episode all around - (they usually are). My only complaint is that it should have been Severide who went to Casey at the end, not Peter. Just cuz, Feelings.

Echo - Reid stops talking after Tobias Henkel. After a while, Morgan can't remember his voice. - Reid & Morgan Gen fic that was just So Good for me. Reid-pain and Morgan-pain and it is all like a little delicious cookie of angst.

Cloudburst - There are some things you just can't ignore - Jo/Kat Adult fic. Post-hunt porn...is there anything better? Seriously, this is so ridiculously hot in like an "I'll be in my bunk" kind of way. And anyways, it's all

Under Your Influence (The Way It Works Like Caffeine) - The one where Bruce and Darcy try to have a date. - The first Bruce/Darcy fic I read after deciding they were my Avengers OTP and it hit all my buttons perfectly. Bruce's awkwardness is just lovely, Tony is awesome and there is bonus!Peter Parker. Also, Darcy-Clint-bffs is my new headcanon.

Thanks For Nothing - Jackson is not a nice person and he doesn't do nice things. So when he finds out Danny has a thing for Stiles, he definitely doesn't try to get them together. Really. - I'm all about Danny/Stiles and I fucking love Jackson for reasons that Danny actually explains perfectly in this fic. Also, the Danny-voice here is spot-on. A Danny/Stiles fic that might actually be about Jackson's issues and it was everything I needed!

Unnamed Poem -

wolfrider89 says she wrote this right after watching Reichenbach Falls and holy shit, does it paint an image in my head of John Watson trying to escape the ghost of Sherlock. On top of it, it is also a really good piece of poetry that speaks in a very raw way of what it's like to be the person left behind.

The Nephew had no idea what they were when he opened them, but I am quite sure once he realizes what a 'choose-your-own-adventure' book is, that he'll be hooked!

I still can't believe they brought Hallie back just to kill her off. It came out of nowhere! Your take on the Mills-Casey situation actually makes a ton of sense. I initially thought it was because Mills knows what it is like to lose someone you love so dearly to fire (ie. his dad) but reading your thoughts, I think you are right, that's why Mills went to him, so Dawson wouldn't. I still don't know why Boden didn't step up immediately, because Severide/Casey Feels aside, it probably should have been Boden, but yeah, it's def leading to more issues with the whole love triangle with Dawson thing.

(I am so glad you watch this show too! It's so nice to talk about Chicago Fire on my LJ and have someone to talk about it with!)

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Ugh, I just feel like...Mills is very sweet and I think Dawson does really care about him and maybe even love him, but I don't feel like she is in love with him, certainly not the way he feels about her. So even though I really liked them together at first, I kind of wish she would just end before Mills gets too hurt.

I hadn't heard that! Hmmm, I'll have to think about whether or not to watch it. I already watch Southland and you can't get much better as far as cop shows go. I think what had me so interested in Chicago Fire at first was that I've never watched a firefighter show before.

oxoniensis makes really good icons. I tried to make my own but it didn't look quite right and even though we don't know each other that well, she offered to fix it for me and I really like how it came out. She has some really nice Severide-Shay ones as well.

southland got cancelled :( i love coop and boots i'll miss the show. but it was going down hill, as many long staying shows do.

Ugh, I didn't know that! Crap, I am all sad now. Honestly, the best cop show I have ever watched and I love all the characters and will miss them so much.

Chicago PD actually sounds interesting and I think I'll give it a shot next year! Thanks for the heads up! I really love how Chicago Fire (and now Chicago PD) are set in Chicago and actually film in Chicago. I like when shows do that because it makes the show more realistic, you know.

The ones on Amazon are the ones I got The Nephew - the first set of four that came in a pack, with the Abominable Snowman, etc. The writing style is not as good as I remember the ones being when we were kids, but maybe I'm just romanticizing. I am sure the writing gets better as you go up reading levels. I know some of the best ones were the ones I was reading at like age 12, high end knights and fantasy stuff. (the something Wolf series?)

Damn Ragnar and cheating on his wife! I love how Bjorn called him out on it.

Bjorn was kind of a hot-head when we first met him and slowly, more and more, I have really grown to like him. Him calling Ragnar out totally finished the deal - I love that kid!

I was actually kind of hoping, after the funeral for Gyda, when Althelstan and Lagertha were both grieving so hard, that there would be some grief fucking for them. I really hope that when Ragnar comes back with his baby-mommy and baby, that Lagertha and Althestan start having an affair with each other. They'd be great together and they both deserve it and I never encourage cheating but damn, I want this pairing!

Oh and I have a job interview tomorrow, its during work but I'll sneak into my back room and do it. No one will find me in there. The school is in NH and seems to have the true progressive stuff figured out that Roeper just talks about.

I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books, they were so much fun.

The writing style was not the best on the ones I got - kind of choppy - and I can't tell if that is just how C-Y-O-A always are (hard to remember after all these years) or if these were just not written all that well. But I still had fun reading through and finding out what my ending would be, so I know The Nephew will too. Also importantly, since he reads through like two chapter books a week, these will last him awhile, since he can keep rereading them and having different adventures.

Vikings is so good, I want to go back and rewatch the entire season.

Right? Who would have thought The History Channel had it in them? I have all the episodes still in the recycle bin on the Tivo and I am hoping that once Arrow is off for the season (the show M and I watch together on Friday afternoons) that I can convince M to give it a try. Bonus is I'll get to rewatch it myself!

How do you think the interview went? I know you said on your journal that it seemed like the kind of school that you would be a better fit with.

I haven't reread them since I was young so they probably wouldn't hold up that well, but I have good memories of them.

I will happily watch them with you as I don't enjoy watching stuff on my laptop if a tv is available.

The interview felt like it went well, it was on Skype so weird as she kept being in shadow. It felt positive other than some bumps of how do I talk about where I am now. I really should do more job stuff today but I'm just exhausted.

I think instead I'll have fun making the fic better, I'm glad to know you liked it and will send you another draft soon.

It is very awesome! Not only because of the Danny/Stiles but also with the whole Danny & Jackson friendship aspect that I adore on the show. You do have to wonder sometimes, 'why is such a nice guy like Danny friends with a dude like Jackson?' and this fic answers it perfectly.
