Tweeted this earlier, need you all to know my pain...
* Just watched the s8 premiere of Chicago Fire & I cant. I can’t. My boyfriend. Omg. I’m just laying here sobbing & making terrible whiny noises & I’m glad my sister is not home. “Brother, I will be with you always.”
Also I think the shot from where Severide & Kidd were having dinner was right on the same strip where my hotel was for Star Wars Celebration.
And what, the Days Of Our Lives dude is on the show now? He’s a funny character but when’s Brett coming back? *

Important Notice 1: For those of you who plan on watching TNT's new series, "The Librarians", starring Noah Wyle, Rebecca Romijn and Christian Kane, they are replaying the original movies (also starring Noah Wyle) this weekend. Sunday, the 7th, starting at noon, all three movies will air in order. I don't think it will be necessary to have seen the movies to watch the TV series, but if you are interested, the first movie at least is loads of fun. I've only seen the first one, but this time around I am recording and watching all three. Anyways, I know some of you were interested in catching the movies first and even if you don't plan on watching the new series, you should give the original movies a try. Noah Wyle looks like he had a ton of fun making them!

Important Notice 2: It's [livejournal.com profile] rhymephile's birthday!! The big 40! (Am I not suppose to announce that to people? Oops, too late!) Rhyme and I met through LJ, where I commented on a fic she wrote, in such obsessive crazy squeeful delight, that she friended me and I friended her back and we have been clutching each other and screaming about fannish things ever since. I awesomely got the chance to meet her in person last year (yep, still excited that we ate in what used to be an old Chicago fire-house) and she's basically the coolest fucking person. But here's a funny thing, like seriously, there was a brief period when we were talking online that I thought, "Does my sister have a sockpuppet journal, where she writes HS AUs, because I think I just accidentally friended my sister's sockpuppet journal." She is obviously not my sister, but still...I was actually really suspicious for a minute there! Anyways, Rhyme, babe, for your birthday, I am still working on that art project I started for you last year. (Still as in, I fished out the already finished bits and set them on my dresser. But I'll get there!) In the meantime, I thought maybe tomorrow, the forces of my life willing, that I might dig out an old X-Files fic (Krycek-centric , of course) and post it up for you, in your honor. Whaddya think?

Important Notice 3: FYI, if you are writing a Firefly fic and then try to send your brother an email immediately after, be aware that it is really hard to get out of Firefly-speak once you've started and your brother may end up side-eyeing your entire email.

That is all.

I kept meaning to get this all written up, just some numbers on my word counts for 2013. I actually kept track throughout the year because the previous year, when I added it all up, I realized I was just 750 words short from hitting 100k and there was no way I was going to let that happen again. Especially this time when I added it up at the 6-month mark and realized I had 50k exactly, I had to go for the big goal and get it done.

Random Things About My 2013 Writing Under The Cut. )

Total Yearly Word Count - 101,200 words written in 2013!!

My goals for 2014 are to finish all of the WIPS in my writing folder. I’m on a mission! I have already finished one this year. Most importantly is to get that freaking Derek/Stiles fic finished! I’m thinking Teen Wolf will probably be the front-runner of word counts again, just in finishing that one fic. But I wonder what new fandoms will strike my fancy during 2014. Anyways, that’s 2013...onto the next!

My trip to Chicago was awesome! I came home sore as fuck (the hotel beds were not the best and the car ride is never fun) and exhausted (clearly, as I’m just getting around to typing this up) but it was SO worth it. The traffic going in was pretty bad but we managed to get a view of the water pretty much from the minute we hit Chicago. The hotel was about a block from the lakefront, in a cute little area. Every time I go to Chicago, I love it more and more. I love that it has such a neighborhood-feel to it while still being the big city. Once we got there, [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth and Munchy P (who's 2 1/2 now) came to the hotel. The BFF had brought him a Superman shirt with a cape on it and he put it on and proceeded to jump on the hotel beds until finally he turned to my sister and said, "Do I want to fly?" and she picked him up and 'flew' him around the room. He was laughing so hard he kept forgetting to put his arms out.

More on my trip under the cut. )

You know, I love getting to meet my LJ fangirls in Real Life. They are both so fucking awesome and now that I can say we've met before, they have open invitations to come stay at Fangirl Central. The kids in the family don't call this The Fun House for nothing. Then my sister made us get up at the asscrack of dawn (well, at least in my world it was the asscrack of dawn) to get ahead of the marathon traffic. But we were home and all taking naps by 1pm, so that was good. It was a most excellent trip!

I bought The Nephew some Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books for his birthday - (my brothers and I used to be so into those as kids) - and I just read through one to see if it was any good. I went on three different adventures in the same book and got three different endings; the embassy sent me back to the United States and I had to give up my quest for the mysterious jewels, I got inducted into a secret society, and I died. Pretty fun!

Also, I watched the season finale of Vikings yesterday and I have a few things to say...Gyda!! Athelstan's face! His stupid face. /clutches him to my chest/ JFC, Ragnar, you are an asshole. This show is so fucking good! I am impressed with The History Channel.

I watched this week's Chicago Fire as well. I was not onboard with that storyline about Severide at all, for Reasons, but I thought the way he brought it to a head this week was pretty fucking awesome. I loved everything between Herrmann and Boden. Seriously, cartoon hearts appear in my vision every time Herrmann is on screen. I am so confused by him though - do I want him to marry me or adopt me? IDK! I haven't been this confused about a man since Bobby Singer. It was just a really good episode all around - (they usually are). My only complaint is that it should have been Severide who went to Casey at the end, not Peter. Just cuz, Feelings.

Now I fic rec you. A little something for everyone. )

Enjoy those! I'm going to work on my anniversary answers this weekend, so if you still want to ask me a question, you can do that here.

As you can see, last month I spent a lot of time working on a Teen Wolf fic. It was one of those stories that was meant to be much shorter and then took on a life of its own quite suddenly, so that all the scenes were playing out like a movie in my head at the oddest times. In the height of it, my inspiration was coming like a frenzy. I love when that happens. It has slowed since then, considerably, but due to that flutter of inspiration, I at least now have a comprehensive outline for the plot. I'm just going to have to keep plugging away at it. I also managed my second Chicago Fire fic last month!

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

March, 2013
Week One: 1,050 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Two: 2,050 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Three: 1,850 words of Teen Wolf Family fic.
Week Four: 2,200 words of Chicago Fire Episode fic. Completed. (already posted!)

7,150 words written in March!

Fics posted in March, 2012. )

This month I've been all over the place when it comes to fic writing, it seems like a different fandom every week. But I have also set aside some time to work on The Nephew's birthday story, which I hope to have finished by the end of this week. In light of knowing what he is fannish over these days, anyone want to try to guess what fandom his story is in?

Just getting this in under the cut! Last month's word count. Last month I worked on a few things; more of my Leverage Apartment AU - (which is shaping up to be a lot longer and way more involved than my original idea was when I started writing it!) - my Johanna/Annie Hunger Games fic - (whoo, it's finally finished, after months of letting it sit) - and one little piece of crack based on a smartass remark from my sister about Legolas that highly amused us both. That’s one more WIP checked off my list! All in all, a pretty good month.

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

February, 2013
Week One: 1,250 words of Johanna/Annie fic.
Week Two: 1,100 words of Leverage AU fic.
Week Three: 1,050 words of Leverage AU fic.
Week Four: 250 words of LOTR Crack fic. Completed.
2,400 words of Johanna/Annie fic. Completed.

6,050 words written in February!

Fics posted in February, 2012. )

This month I have worked on two things; a Teen Wolf fic and a Chicago Fire fic. The Teen Wolf fic is that happy thing of having All The Ideas and having the scenes just pour out of me, and even when I am not writing, having the scenes just forming and playing out in my head. The downside - not enough time to get it all out! I don't know what's up with my Teen Wolf muse, but every story idea I have seems to be wanting to take at least 10,000 words to write. You would think Teen Wolf would inspire ridiculous fun little fic ideas instead of these lengthy plot pieces that keep coming. Oh, Teen Wolf, how you never stop surprising me.
dodger_sister: (writing)
I swore, this year I was going to post these things at the beginning of the month! Um, anyways. I have decided to try and see how many of my WIPs I can actually get finished this year, as well as writing two major fic ideas I have; one for Teen Wolf and one for Dean/Cas. With the D/C PWP I finished in January, I have checked off one WIP so far! I’m sure I’ll have a few other things here and there, as already this year I wrote two little ficlets in two new fandoms - (that is if The Hobbit counts as a new fandom, which I think it does!).

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

January, 2013
Week One: 1,200 words of Dean/Cas PWP fic.
Week Two: 550 words of Chicago Fire fic. Completed.
750 words of Dean/Cas PWP fic.
Week Three: 1,700 words of Dean/Cas PWP fic.
Week Four: 450 words of Thorin/Balin fic. Completed.
1,550 words of Dean/Cas PWP fic. Completed.
Week Five: 1,000 words of Teen Wolf AU fic.

7,200 words written in January!

Fics posted in January, 2012. )

This month I have worked on some more WIPs, by going back to two fics that have been abandoned since last summer; a Leverage Apartment AU and my Johanna/Annie fic, which I hope to have finished this week. I’ve also decided to write some shorter Teen Wolf fics, to give myself a little variety before going full-tilt on my AU idea.

Just a look at some new shows I started watching in 2012. Apparently I started watching a lot of TV last year, so I’ll try to keep it brief. Thankfully these don’t all air during the same time of year!

Under the cut for spaceage. )

Also, last year I started watching four shows that are not new, but were new to me, and are now in my regular viewing line-up; Teen Wolf, Leverage, Community & Paranormal Witness. I don’t know how I am going to like this one-a-week thing when Community comes back - I just want to mainline 12 episodes in a row. And, yeah, I am still crying into my pillow over Leverage’s cancellation.

So, that is all the new shows I started watching last year - I know, holy shit, right?! If you want to know more or want to discuss any of these shows, just drop me a comment.

I HAVE FINISHED THE BFF’S FIC!!! I honestly can’t believe it. 25,548 words. Can you imagine there was a time when I thought this thing was going to be 6,000 words long? And then every 4,000 words or so after that, I would say, “Oh, it just needs another 4,000 more words.” Yeah, I said that 5 more times before I hit the end. Man, when I say I have no concept of how long something is going to be when I sit down to write it, I mean it. 70 pages long! It’s the longest fan-fiction I have ever written. It’s about 8,000 more words than what was my previous longest fan-fic ever, which was 17,000+.

Now I have reached the point where I am unsure if it is actually any good or not though, because I’ve been working on it since May. May! Still, I like it myself, so hopefully she will too. I thought maybe the front half was action-lite but then I thought, isn’t it true that in like, say a movie, you get way more action in the second half than you do in the first half? Right?

Anyways, soon enough I will be able to reveal to you all what the crossovers are in this secret story. The BFF gets it on like the Saturday before Christmas and then after that I can tell you all about it. Given my crazy Christmas/New Years schedule, it probably won’t get posted until January anyway but still, I’ve been calling it the ‘Secret Crossover’ for so long, I thought you might be curious.

At 25,500 words, this is like Big Bang length. Which makes me think I should do some art for it. At least like a cover page. I make cover pages for The Nephew’s fics and they are usually only like 3,000 words, so I think a 25,000 word fic should get one too.

What I really need now is a beta reader. Anybody up for it? You know, the usual; typos, tense changes, tell me whether or not I need to add anything. I don’t expect any major issues with it but like I said, after nearly seven months of this thing, I can’t see straight. I’d give you (virtual) hugs. And my (real life) unending gratitude. Anyone? /puppy eyes/

Alright, off to bed now. Chicago Fire time! Gotta watch my sexy firemen/paramedics save people and flirt with each other.
