Saw one of those memes going around - “Post the first line/paragraph of your last 20 fics.” I never post in the order that I write - my organization is mayhem - but I have this folder of finished fics that are just waiting for a final read-thru and some header info and I happen to have 20 fics in there, so that’s where I’m pulling these lines from. Eventually, I might get around to posting the stories themselves!

Jared was a pretty good roommate, Jensen had to admit that. He hung up his bathroom towels and rinsed off his dirty dishes and most importantly, he took Jensen to parties that had liquor - the good kind, not the piss-water beer Jensen’s friends always served.

19 more under the cut! )

I may have had to re-read some of these as I was doing this meme. Like idk what it says about me, but I really like my own stories a lot. Have a go, if you like!

I kept meaning to get this all written up, just some numbers on my word counts for 2013. I actually kept track throughout the year because the previous year, when I added it all up, I realized I was just 750 words short from hitting 100k and there was no way I was going to let that happen again. Especially this time when I added it up at the 6-month mark and realized I had 50k exactly, I had to go for the big goal and get it done.

Random Things About My 2013 Writing Under The Cut. )

Total Yearly Word Count - 101,200 words written in 2013!!

My goals for 2014 are to finish all of the WIPS in my writing folder. I’m on a mission! I have already finished one this year. Most importantly is to get that freaking Derek/Stiles fic finished! I’m thinking Teen Wolf will probably be the front-runner of word counts again, just in finishing that one fic. But I wonder what new fandoms will strike my fancy during 2014. Anyways, that’s 2013...onto the next!

Being sick has sparked a lot of hospital nightmares. As I sleep, I can tell how sick I feel and that sparks medical thoughts in my brain or something. I keep dreaming about having heart-attacks, because the albuterol is making my heart race. And one night I dreamed that K died of a heart-attack, but before that we had hooked up, and I woke up unsure which of those two things was more disturbing. So any dreams I have these days that aren’t nightmares should be celebrated.

My Fandom Dreams Under The Cut. )

Anyways, those were my dreams. Someday I should tell you all about the one where Stiles and I got together with the help of a serial killer.

So, clearly, I gave myself some leeway on being sick this month because I missed three entire weeks of writing in a row. It’s the first time I haven’t written at least 500 words in a week in almost two years. November also seems to be the lowest word count I have had since I started having weekly word goals back at the beginning of 2012. I was sad about it, even though I know some of my energy in November was spent on arting, so I was at least doing something with myself. Still, I buckled down at the end of the month and decided if I couldn’t meet the 1,000 words per week goal, I could at least meet the 4,000 words per month goal. Which I did. At the same time that I finished out two WIPS - (my first Criminal Minds fic in the bag!) - and worked some more on that Jeff/Jensen PWP that’s been sitting on my hard-drive forever. (It’s taken a weird turn from my original intention).

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

November, 2013
Week One: 0 words.
Week Two: 0 words.
Week Three: 0 words.
Week Four: 2,050 words of Danny/Martin fic. Completed.
800 words of Criminal Minds fic. Completed.
1,150 words of Jeff/Jensen PWP.

4,000 words written in November!

Fics posted in November, 2012. )

Two WIPs off the checklist! (I had left Danny & Martin smack-dab in the middle of sex for more than a year on that one, so I feel good finally giving them some closure). December and then done!

Yeah, about to spam this on you, because the end of the year is coming up and I am putting together my tally. October was the beginning of me being sick, but I still was running high from breaking 10k for four months in a row, so apparently I was trying really hard to hit that mark again. Still, I didn’t do too bad. 8k is acceptable for any month, let alone one where I had some nasty stomach virus. This is also the month I started my first Criminal Minds fic ever! And I worked on two different Halloween stories, though The X-Files one never got finished.

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

October, 2013
Week One: 1,350 words of Criminal Minds fic.
Week Two: 1,100 words of X-Files Halloween fic.
Week Three: 1,050 words of X-Files Halloween fic.
Week Four: 2,000 words of X-Files Halloween fic.
Week Four & 1/2: 3,150 words of Avengers Halloween fic. Completed. (already posted!)

8,650 words written in October!

Fics posted in October, 2012. )

So October seemed pretty successful, all in all! Of course, at the end of this month I looked at my WIPS folder and realized it was bigger than when I started the year, so tackling that had to come next.

So I managed to watch the Tigers’ final game of the regular season against the Miami Marlins and I just wanted to say ‘hats off’ to the Marlins’ Henderson Alvarez for pitching a no-hitter in the game on Sunday. CONGRATS, ALVAREZ! It’s a rare thing, the no-hitter - only 3 pitched in the entirety of the MLB this season and only 6 in the history of the Marlins. It was kind of fun to watch actually and since we were already in the playoffs anyways, I found myself rooting for Alvarez to do it! It’s an exciting thing to see unfolding. On the downside, Justin Verlander still has not had a Major League hit. He is 0 for 26 now. It’s way past sad at this point. It’s actually the one thing I don’t like about the American League, is that our pitchers don’t bat, but I guess in Justin’s case it’s a good thing he only has to do it when we are playing in a National League park, because damn boy. PLAYOFFS START ON FRIDAY!!

And now…some fic recs:

Five Fic Recs under the cut. )

I’ve been sitting up doing actual things for an hour and a half now and I’m all sweaty and tired again and my sister says I look kind of pale. Humph. (It was probably actually geeking out over Agents Of Shield on the phone with The BFF that did me in). Whatever, I’m going back to the couch to watch Sleepy Hollow now (finally!).

Well, I've been sick. I feel like I've said that a lot lately, but this time it wasn't 'under the weather' or exhaustion or whatever...it's a stomach virus. It's like 'spent two hours in the bathroom yesterday' sick and 'had to call my mom to come stay with me' sick. I'll spare you the TMI details, but on the upside, I'm feeling a little better today. It's tapered off and now I just have that post-sick feeling of being drained and empty. Which is not fun but considerably better than sweating profusely with legs like rubber and panting from the smallest physical activity, like yesterday. Seriously I'll take all that other under-the-weather crap over this any day. I've also been off physical therapy for a week now, waiting on a new prescription which has come in now so I've got to call and set up new appointments, which I've been too sick to do. I'm glad my doctor had such a quick turnaround this time when they usually take forever to get anything done in that office, but OTOH I was kind of looking forward to a little break, just for a couple of weeks. I did manage to make it out to get my labwork done today and by the time I got home from that, just laying down on the couch was like a monumental experience. Hopefully one more night of hard sleep will kick it in the ass.

So, I read another book - (headed towards my goal of ten for the year) - awhile ago and I keep meaning to do the Media Meme again - (am trying to do this every time I read another book) - so while I'm here, let's punch this out.

1. What was the last book you read? - Hiding The Truth by my girl, [livejournal.com profile] lizibabes and the first e-book I've ever purchased!
2. What was the last TV show you watched? - The Daily Show. Or Criminal Minds, which I'm watching right now.
3. What was the last movie you watched? - Star Trek: Into Darkness. (I think?).
4. What was the last album you listened to? - The Birthright soundtrack, Vol 1.
5. What was the last video game you played? - Bejeweled Blitz. (yes, again).
Bonus Round: What was the last fanfic you read? - Silent As A Smile (this might not be the exact last one I read since I read a couple of Garcia/Hotch fics while I've been sick, but this was certainly one of them).

Okay, back to bed now. One more night of rest'll do it, right?

Last week The BFF and I were in the car and she had a milkshake and she goes, "This is too thick and hard to drink in the car," and I said, "So what you are saying is that it is hard and thick?" And she goes, "Yes. It is hard and thick and I am sucking it into my mouth." And then we both busted out laughing because we are that mature. What?

Anyways, sometimes on the weekend I catch reruns of Criminal Minds. I recently saw the one where in the past the two kids are held by this killer and they try to escape and only one of the boys makes it and leaves the other behind. And he has always carried that guilt with him about what happened to that other kid. Who knows this episode? Every time I catch it, I end up watching the whole thing just for the scene at the end between the two boys, who are all grown up now. It's a great little moment. Is it weird that I ship those two guys? Because I do. I ship the two guest stars of the week with each other. It's just a very compelling connection between them.

In other CM news, I was wondering if the storyline where Reid is on crutches took place because Matthew Gray-Gubler had a broken leg. So I went to look it up and apparently he like completely dislocated his kneecap on the dance floor. And the doctors told him that 40 years ago this kind of injury was met with amputation, because there was just no recovering from it, especially because the cartilage was completely shredded. And like none of his leg was attached to any other part of his leg? As it stood, they wanted him to go to Norway and have some experimental surgery. They weren’t sure he’d ever get full use of his leg back. The interview I read was from a year after the fact and he said even then he was limited to ‘walking’ as his only physical thing; still no running, dancing, etc, and how the Criminal Minds writers had to work around that for the season. Luckily, he has gotten full use back now.

In final news, a little while back I was watching ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows’ and made this comment to The BFF…Spoilers for Deathly Hallows and Hunger Games' Mockingjay. )

Which leads me to how I intend on finally putting up some Hunger Games fic, hopefully tomorrow, but certainly by this weekend.

I bought The Nephew some Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books for his birthday - (my brothers and I used to be so into those as kids) - and I just read through one to see if it was any good. I went on three different adventures in the same book and got three different endings; the embassy sent me back to the United States and I had to give up my quest for the mysterious jewels, I got inducted into a secret society, and I died. Pretty fun!

Also, I watched the season finale of Vikings yesterday and I have a few things to say...Gyda!! Athelstan's face! His stupid face. /clutches him to my chest/ JFC, Ragnar, you are an asshole. This show is so fucking good! I am impressed with The History Channel.

I watched this week's Chicago Fire as well. I was not onboard with that storyline about Severide at all, for Reasons, but I thought the way he brought it to a head this week was pretty fucking awesome. I loved everything between Herrmann and Boden. Seriously, cartoon hearts appear in my vision every time Herrmann is on screen. I am so confused by him though - do I want him to marry me or adopt me? IDK! I haven't been this confused about a man since Bobby Singer. It was just a really good episode all around - (they usually are). My only complaint is that it should have been Severide who went to Casey at the end, not Peter. Just cuz, Feelings.

Now I fic rec you. A little something for everyone. )

Enjoy those! I'm going to work on my anniversary answers this weekend, so if you still want to ask me a question, you can do that here.

How was your weekend? So I was watching Friends again (while I ate my chocolate ice cream mixed with mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate sprinkles on top - delicious and totally worth the heartburn and sugar-induced shaking that followed). Anyways, right, Friends...GIOVANNI RIBISI WILL AMUSE ME FOREVER!

Frank Jr's description of his weekend - "We went to Times Square, got ninja stars, I got punched by a hooker..."
Phoebe: She wasn't a hooker.
Frank JR: She will be when I tell my friends.

LMAO. It was also the episode where he says, "I like things that melt, I don't like things that don't melt"...but I SWORE it was BURN - "I like things that burn, I don't like things that don't burn." Do you think it's possible that teenage!me put the word "burn" in there because I LIKE THINGS THAT BURN?! Hmmm...

Anyway, on Friday The BFF came down. For some reason when we sit around the living room and have the most ridiculous conversations about nonsense, it is the most fun ever. It is absolutely no different from when we do that on the phone - but when we are in the same room, it just seems better. IDK why. Then we all watched Glee clips, looked at everyone's Sims updates, watched "How To Train Your Dragon" - which we did just see, but this time The Nephew wasn't there to give a running commentary in my ear, lol. Plus The BFF had never seen it and she hearts Craig Ferguson, as one should. Then we talked about Craig Ferguson & Jeffrey Dean Morgan forever with hearts.

On Saturday, I literally laid around all afternoon and played my handheld and watched a House marathon while my sister put her new bookshelves together. Then one of my cousins came over and helped her finish up and then my sister bought us all Chinese food for dinner. Whenever we have dinner with this cousin, we inevitably end up talking about Bones and Criminal Minds. My cousin is such a giant Reid-fangirl, it is kind of adorable. Then I actually got to read a little fanfic.

On Sunday, The Guy Cousin brought his kids over - The Boy Cousin who is almost 11 and The Little Girl Cousin who is almost 7. In three hours we played Uno, Punch-Out on the original Nintendo, the crocodile game, I Spy, War, Simpsons Roadrage and did a puzzle. Those kids are exhausting. We hadn't seen them in forever though, so it was sweet. And I guess they have been sick for like two weeks. The Guy Cousin is laid of work right now and he said he had one or the other of them home with him every day for the last two weeks. He looked so relieved to have some adults to talk to. As per usual, we argued movies.

Then they left and my sister decided we needed massive amounts of sugar, so she went and got us the above mentioned ice cream, of which I ate half yesterday and the rest today. This place has every candy topping Jared has ever dreamed up and you can get your ice cream flavors all swirled together with anything on top, except like live crickets - sooooo good.

I was going to complain about some bullshit, but eh, I'm tired now.

Maybe tomorrow.

In sum - These pictures of Misha make me want to write Watcher!Castiel fic. It's the vest. Let's all think about Castiel and Giles drinking tea together, k? Great.
