So, Sis and I just came up with a game plan for our TV watching. We just finished the first half of Sleepy Hollow's current season. Next we are watching The Guild, before Netflix drops it at the end of the month. Sis has seen it before, but I haven't and she wants to watch it again. Then we are watching the last half of the last season (sobsobsob) of Lost Girl. It just came back for the final eps, but we are gonna let it stack up, so we can get to The Guild. After Lost Girl, we'll watch the second half of Sleepy Hollow. And also, in there we'll watch Agents of Shield, but we will watch that as it airs. I need to keep up with it, because The Canadian Brother calls me every Sunday to talk about it. We'll watch The Walking Dead each week, once that comes back. And we watch Arrow each week with The BFF. Plus, Hoarders, which we do both episodes the day after they air. If she could stay up late enough, we'd watch them in real time, because it's my sister's (oddly) comfort show. And we watch The Nightly Show as well.

For me, I still have shows stacked up, too many to count, so I shouldn't be trying new shows, like Legends of Tomorrow, and I still haven't decided for sure to stick with it but the second ep the team really gelled a lot more, so for now, I am watching that. I also watch The Flash (with The BFF), The Fosters, Reign, Tiny House Hunters and Legends of Tomorrow. I just finished the last and final season of Legend of Korra (who wants to talk about that with me?!) so I can add one other show this week. I'm holding onto Teen Wolf and Colony, gonna let them stack up, but I need to watch either Agent Carter or The X-Files. (Sis is watching The XFiles too, but we don't watch together because she has too many feelings and is waaaaay too overstimulated. I'm not even allowed to talk about it with her because her face goes all red and she has to run out of the room. I'm not mocking, I understand, but this means I haven't gotten around to starting it). I also need to get caught up on my stacked up Hawaii Five-O, Chicago Fire, Law & Order SVU, Gotham & s2 of The Strain (I LOVED s1). Plus, I really want to watch s1 of 12 Monkeys again. We just watched the original movie and it has made me want the TV show again. Also, my current nighttime/in-bed Netflix show is Dance Academy's s2.

So, while we are talking about TV, have any of you tried the new show You, Me & The Apocalypse? Sis is interested and I remember being a little interested too when I heard of it, but I got so behind on TV that I cut it off the list. I know it already started, but we can catch up, if anyone thinks it's worth it. Anyone? But yeah, if you add it up, it's about a dozen shows at any give time for me, which I realize is a hella lot, but whatevs.

So, I clearly have not come anywhere near my book-reading goal for the year, but I did re-read Catching Fire, so it's time for another Media Meme! I had hoped to read one more book by the end of the year, but since that's just a few days away, I doubt it will happen. How did the year come and go so quickly...damn. I'm trying to catch up on internet things this weekend (and writing - I only have 3k left to go to hit my 100k mark for the year!) but idk, maybe I can sneak a book in there somewhere. Anyways...here we go:

1. What was the last book you read? - Catching Fire!
2. What was the last TV show you watched? - The Fosters. (rewatched the summer finale in preparation for the winter season starting up).
3. What was the last movie you watched? - Volcano. ([livejournal.com profile] shirebound, I did end up putting it in after we talked last night).
4. What was the last album you listened to? - Demons Are Angels Too. (my Christmas at Caritas mix).
5. What was the last video game you played? - Bejeweled Blitz. (clearly this answer is never going to change).
Bonus Round: What was the last fanfic you read? Haven't read much since I got sick, but this one I read and can highly recommend: Five Secrets The Agents Of SHIELD Are Keeping and One They're Not. (little snippets from each of the characters).

Alright, off for dinner! Hopefully catching up on comments and Flist this weekend.

The Fosters has tackled some really tough issues lately. Spoilers from the last two episodes, involving interesting social commentary. ) This show really treats their audience with respect when dealing with these complex issues. Plus, I am stupidly into the teen romances!

Teen Wolf has done several things that pissed me off this season, but recently they may have made up for all that bullshit. Spoilers for the entirety of S3 thus far, some boo and some yay. ) The season needs to do more eps like this one, thank you very much.

We finally finished Southland. It is over forever now. While I thought the season was actually quite compelling and excellent, if the way it was going in the last three episodes was how they intended season six to be, I am glad they canceled it before we got there. Spoilers. )

Now for Teen Wolf. Let's just start straight out with a spoiler cut. ) My favorite scenes were simply Sheriff Stilinski trying to get Stiles away from the computer and Derek's entrance, which I maybe rewound and watched like five times in a row, cuz hot damn. And to think, Derek annoyed the piss out of me in the first season and now I'm all, "Gimme, gimme."

And the new show I am watching...The Fosters. Multiple A+s. Even my sister is excited. I have emotional feelings about kids in foster care and I dislike when media gets it wrong, but I felt like this show did a very good job. My sis read an article written by a foster family who all gave it a thumbs up on accuracy. Their only complaint was how simple it seemed to be to place the kids, aka what about all the red-tape? But I suppose stacks of paperwork doesn't make for compelling drama. Things they got right include; the way the kid felt so 'outside' in a chaotic household of people who 'belonged' there, the way she had her guard up because you never know what the placement will be like, the way she felt like she wasn't being heard (which is a typical teenage complaint anyways), the way they portrayed some homes as being good families who are really trying hard and some homes as less than stellar placements where the kids have to watch their own backs, and the kind of messed up relationship foster kids can have with their birth parents and the mixed feelings that come with that. It was a compelling family, with good solid story-lines to play off of and was not the sappy '7th Heaven' shiny thing I was worried it would be, without also being too over-the-top on the 'foster care is bad' that makes for good drama but is lazy writing. I recommend, if you want a family drama for the summer, that you check it out.

Off to edit porn now.
