‪Closing out the year the same way I spent about 50% of it...yep, I’m in bed already at not quite 9pm. Got up for a dr appt at 8:30am, which most of you know is 4 hours too early for me. Then spent all morning being poked & prodded by drs & techs, so I just came home after, slept, canceled physical therapy, watched Sharknado 5 instead. Now I’m ready for bed. Gonna close out the year with Seth Cohen’s favorite Sylvester Stallone movie, Over The Top, and then go to sleep before midnight. I’m not lame, I’m 40, people.

Also, fyi, I saw someone say “They say what u do at midnight is how you'll spend the new yr”.
I’m legit gonna be asleep w Law & Order: SVU on in the background so, yep, this seems accurate.
Statement now verified by science!

Goodnight & Happy New Year, ya’ll!‬

So, post-surgery, the first 24 hours home are awful. So much pain, can’t sleep, can barely move on my own. Well, because in the hospital I was on 75mg of Oxy - yes, Oxy. I know, a dangerous road for me. “Use it, don’t abuse it,” I keep saying to myself - and yet they only sent me home with 150mg to last 10 days until I see the dr. How could I make that last? So I wasn’t allowing myself enough & it was sending me on a path that would lead right back to the hospital. My arthritis pain alone just from being 95% bed-bound for 4 days was off the charts. So I came home the day after Thanksgiving & by Saturday night, I gave in & called the on-call line. I luckily got a resident dr who saw me in the hospital & was like, “No, no, take whatever you need, we will get you more. We got you on this.” So glad he recognized that one size fits all does not fit *me*.

Under the cut for spaceage. )

So yeah, a few rough days to start, some nerve issues I could live without, losing stamina from being bed-bound, and some worry over my liver - but the hip itself...Doing great! Strength coming back, mobility increasing, wound healing over nicely. I have pics of my leg with the staples in and then an after-shot of when they were taken out - if anyone’s interested, it’s gross but cool, I could post the pics, they were a huge hit with the niblings. Currently the biggest issue is that I’m feeling well enough to be tired of being tired and edging on bored. I have lots to do, but not quite the brain power to do it just yet. So I’ve been rewatching Parks & Rec and Numb3rs and reading easy to digest fanfic. That is what has been going on with me! (Thanks for hanging in on these long posts).

How are all of you? Tell me something about what’s up with you!

I was about 12 when I first saw Night Of The Living Dead. My love for movie makeup & horror blossomed there. I thought of that movie every time I made little short horror films with my friends & video camera. I was in high school before I understood the significance of the main character being black, making it to the end and then being shot dead. I made my little brother listen to me meta about it for days. I was struck so hard. I even owned the two tape special-edition VHS with the Night Of The Living Bread college student parody short film on it. It feels cliche to note only Night of the Living Dead, it certainly isn't his only work to praise, but it inspired me, meant something important to me.

Thank you, Mr. Romero. You gave inspiration to an 18 year old with a handheld video camera and some used Halloween makeup.

May you rest in peace. Or not, if you prefer.

Also, to Martin Landau. He was an award-winning actor whose career spanned stage, movie and TV. But what I'll remember him for was his small guest stint on Without A Trace as Jack's dad. The character was suffering from early stage dementia and organ failure and Jack wanted him to fight. He had to have the talk, the one I expect to have to give someday, the "I know you love me so do this for me and let me go" talk. It hit me, hard. It was moving. He was nominated for an Emmy for that role.

At any rate, I've heard what actors want is to have one moment where they change someone's life with their stories. It didn't so much change my life, as help me feel like I was being given permission to one day, when it really does get too much, when my body has failed and my liver is going, to just let go.

Thank you, Mr. Landau. Rest now.

My dad says he's getting tired of checking the headlines everyday, it's as bad as checking the obituaries, his childhood idols keep passing on. I'm starting to feel that way too.

So, Sis and I just came up with a game plan for our TV watching. We just finished the first half of Sleepy Hollow's current season. Next we are watching The Guild, before Netflix drops it at the end of the month. Sis has seen it before, but I haven't and she wants to watch it again. Then we are watching the last half of the last season (sobsobsob) of Lost Girl. It just came back for the final eps, but we are gonna let it stack up, so we can get to The Guild. After Lost Girl, we'll watch the second half of Sleepy Hollow. And also, in there we'll watch Agents of Shield, but we will watch that as it airs. I need to keep up with it, because The Canadian Brother calls me every Sunday to talk about it. We'll watch The Walking Dead each week, once that comes back. And we watch Arrow each week with The BFF. Plus, Hoarders, which we do both episodes the day after they air. If she could stay up late enough, we'd watch them in real time, because it's my sister's (oddly) comfort show. And we watch The Nightly Show as well.

For me, I still have shows stacked up, too many to count, so I shouldn't be trying new shows, like Legends of Tomorrow, and I still haven't decided for sure to stick with it but the second ep the team really gelled a lot more, so for now, I am watching that. I also watch The Flash (with The BFF), The Fosters, Reign, Tiny House Hunters and Legends of Tomorrow. I just finished the last and final season of Legend of Korra (who wants to talk about that with me?!) so I can add one other show this week. I'm holding onto Teen Wolf and Colony, gonna let them stack up, but I need to watch either Agent Carter or The X-Files. (Sis is watching The XFiles too, but we don't watch together because she has too many feelings and is waaaaay too overstimulated. I'm not even allowed to talk about it with her because her face goes all red and she has to run out of the room. I'm not mocking, I understand, but this means I haven't gotten around to starting it). I also need to get caught up on my stacked up Hawaii Five-O, Chicago Fire, Law & Order SVU, Gotham & s2 of The Strain (I LOVED s1). Plus, I really want to watch s1 of 12 Monkeys again. We just watched the original movie and it has made me want the TV show again. Also, my current nighttime/in-bed Netflix show is Dance Academy's s2.

So, while we are talking about TV, have any of you tried the new show You, Me & The Apocalypse? Sis is interested and I remember being a little interested too when I heard of it, but I got so behind on TV that I cut it off the list. I know it already started, but we can catch up, if anyone thinks it's worth it. Anyone? But yeah, if you add it up, it's about a dozen shows at any give time for me, which I realize is a hella lot, but whatevs.

Hello and Happy Easter, friends! I didn't have any family obligations this year, but after my sister went to church, we took a trek out to the farm to visit Grandma and take her some flowers. Then we spent the rest of the day watching Law & Order: SVU, as one does, and I had a nice phone call with The BFF, since we didn't get to see each other this week. I just wanted to take this moment to say Happy Easter to all of my peeps - (get it, 'peeps', ahahaha, yeah, I may need to go to bed now). Anyways, you guys are the best! Have a Easter card I made...

Okay, Cyclops. Happy Easter!

I had the craziest dream last night. It started with someone in my home, attacking me and I was all, "Do you know who I am friends with? Bo Dennis. The succubus." And then some of my 'friends' showed up to help me fight - like the strangest multi-fandom crossover ever. Teen Wolf, Lost Girl, Avengers, Hunger Games, Sesame Street (Big Bird was there), Strawberry Shortcake, Law & Order SVU, Lorne from Angel, Hellboy, etc. When I noticed Hellboy, I shouted, "OMG, Hellboy is on my team!" There were over a hundred different people and we were fighting bad guys and going on adventures and I was so happy and everything was awesome. But then I heard my brother's voice calling my name and I snapped back into my body (still in the dream tho) and realized I was actually in a coma and my brother was there begging me to wake up. I was like floating over my own body in the hospital room and I realized I had been in a coma for months. All the time I was on the adventures with my team of awesome friends, I was actually in a coma.

More under the cut. )

Then I fell back to sleep and this time I dreamed about Stiles and Derek and they were both in Derek's kitchen with their shirts off and Stiles was making toast and they were standing really close to each other, not speaking, but like Derek was just staring at Stiles and it was enormously tension filled and I was like, "Wow, this is a lot of sexual tension for a scene about making toast."

This is my brain, folks.

If you have the Netflix app, you will notice how when you sign in, it will say right at the top..."Continue Watching"...and have your most recent watched things available for you to just click on. Like if you stop a movie halfway through and want to finish it later or if you are watching a TV series, it will load up the next episode for you so you don't lose your place. So, unless it's a movie that you watch all the way to the credits, your most recently watched shows will be right there for you to keep going. Which is nifty. It also means that my sister and I can see what the other one has been watching, since we never divided our accounts. A month ago, I went scrolling through the things it back-holds, just curiously, to see what was there.

Here's what we were watching a month ago on Netflix:

Raising Hope, Queer As Folk, Ultimate Spiderman, Scrubs, Orange Is The New Black, What Not To Wear, Law & Order: SVU, The Boondocks, Confessions: Animal Hoarding & Lilyhammer.

I was looking through it again last week, looking for the SVU to let run while I was falling asleep - (this may have something to do with some of the odd dreams I have, huh?) - so here is what we are watching on Netflix now:

Numb3rs, Queer As Folk, Parks and Recreation, Parenthood, Malcolm In The Middle, House MD, Law & Order: SVU & Call The Midwife.

Basically, what I'm saying here, is I love streaming TV on Netflix. Netflix is amazing.

First, let me just say that two days ago it was 70F outside and today it is 30F and there is snow on the ground. Damn you, Spring! I knew you were a tease, you fucker!

Now that that’s out of my system - I want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who commented on my post about my mom’s dog and who has sent me emails and PMs and inquiries about how he is doing and all the offers for help and support and good wishes. My mom has been in tears at every good wish and prayer in her name, just clearly moved by the love she has been shown.

Winston came home last week and is doing well. It seems being home has done him good - his spirits are certainly up these days. And he managed to stay infection free! And today he had both the stitches on his leg and the staples in his stomach removed. He has had some digestions issues; loss of appetite, bathroom accidents, vomiting - but considering the damage done to his insides, I am not surprised. It will probably help to get off all the pain killers and antibiotics - hopefully by the end of this week if he keeps improving - as those have to be messing up his stomach as well.

More under the cut, including a picture of Winston in his new shirt! )

Definitely some frustrations still going on, but when Winston came up in our house the other day, prancing all over, showing off his new shirt and greeting our cats, it was a wonderful moment and we will just keep fighting for him, as long as he keeps fighting too.

I kept meaning to get this all written up, just some numbers on my word counts for 2013. I actually kept track throughout the year because the previous year, when I added it all up, I realized I was just 750 words short from hitting 100k and there was no way I was going to let that happen again. Especially this time when I added it up at the 6-month mark and realized I had 50k exactly, I had to go for the big goal and get it done.

Fandoms Written In For 2013 - 15; Avengers, Buffy&Angel, Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, CW RPS, The Hunger Games, Kitties!, Leverage, Lost Girl, Middle-Earth, Once Upon A Time, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Without A Trace & The X-Files.

New Fandoms Written In For 2013 - 6; Chicago Fire, Criminal Minds, Kitties!, The Hobbit, Lost Girl, and Once Upon A Time.

The Fandoms I Wrote The Most In For 2013 -
Buffy&Angel: 9,250 words.
CW RPS: 13,200 words.
Teen Wolf: 40,600 words.

Lowest Monthly Word Count - 4,000 words in November.
Highest Monthly Word Count - 14,000 words in July.

Random Things About My 2013 Writing Under The Cut. )

Total Yearly Word Count - 101,200 words written in 2013!!

My goals for 2014 are to finish all of the WIPS in my writing folder. I’m on a mission! I have already finished one this year. Most importantly is to get that freaking Derek/Stiles fic finished! I’m thinking Teen Wolf will probably be the front-runner of word counts again, just in finishing that one fic. But I wonder what new fandoms will strike my fancy during 2014. Anyways, that’s 2013...onto the next!

What Not To Wear is gone forever now. This show really was about so much more than clothes and it took me so long to realize it. My sister made the mistake of introducing me to it on an episode where they made some woman throw out her vintage rock tees - (which I am STILL a little miffed about) - and it took a long time for Stacy & Clinton to convince me that they weren't the devil. (To be fair, they still might be, but they are fashionable devils, at the least). I was 25 when the show started, just figuring out my post-adolescent style and learning how to dress my unique body type and even though it took awhile for me to admit it, I learned a lot from them. They win everyone over, in the end, don’t they? So, thank you Stacy & Clinton for helping me grow from a girl into a woman!

In other reality TV news, for those of you who don’t know yet, Hoarders was officially canceled. I’m not surprised given how long we had gone without word of a renewal. Still, I will miss it. (Corey & Matt most of all, but hopefully the new show they want to work on together will come to fruition). Maybe it’s bad to say, but it always helped me when looking at my own parents and the messed up ways in which they both live their lives, to watch this show and understand how much worse it could really be. Plus, I feel like the show genuinely helped people.

My two favorite reality shows are now gone. My sister and I made noises of distress when I had to take them out of the Season Pass lineup. Actually, the other day I was doing the weekly To Do List on the Tivo and I saw the missing time slot on Friday where What Not To Wear used to be and my eyes filled with tears and then I went into our recorded shows and saw the Law & Order: SVU I had to watch that was Richard Belzer’s last episode ever - (John Munch is a character that has been around for 20 years now) - and I just burst into tears. It was the saddest fucking thing. I was somewhat relieved then, when in the middle of the night, I ended up starting my Awesome Time of Month. But those were still both tear-worthy events. (For the record, I did okay with Munch’s last episode until they did the flash-thing at the end, black-n-whited a clip from Homicide over him at his SVU desk - those mother-fuckers with the feels!).

Uh, so, that’s how TV has made me cry lately. I also have some angry thoughts about a few shows this year and some thoughts about how some things could be doing it better and some thoughts about how certain shows (Arrow!) have really stepped up their game, but those feel like they would take a lot of thought process and that is just something I have very little of at the moment. Anyways, how’s the TV season treating you all?
dodger_sister: (grumpy)
I'm finally calmed down enough to tell you about my Saturday - and here I'll be making up for not doing a proper post for a week by word-vomiting all over you.

Rest assured, this doesn't end with the Criminal Minds team at my door. )

The security system may be great for us - (I’m sure it will be) - but I did not like those guys and I will never open the door to them myself, that's for damn sure.
dodger_sister: (criminal minds)
Last week The BFF and I were in the car and she had a milkshake and she goes, "This is too thick and hard to drink in the car," and I said, "So what you are saying is that it is hard and thick?" And she goes, "Yes. It is hard and thick and I am sucking it into my mouth." And then we both busted out laughing because we are that mature. What?

Anyways, sometimes on the weekend I catch reruns of Criminal Minds. I recently saw the one where in the past the two kids are held by this killer and they try to escape and only one of the boys makes it and leaves the other behind. And he has always carried that guilt with him about what happened to that other kid. Who knows this episode? Every time I catch it, I end up watching the whole thing just for the scene at the end between the two boys, who are all grown up now. It's a great little moment. Is it weird that I ship those two guys? Because I do. I ship the two guest stars of the week with each other. It's just a very compelling connection between them.

In other CM news, I was wondering if the storyline where Reid is on crutches took place because Matthew Gray-Gubler had a broken leg. So I went to look it up and apparently he like completely dislocated his kneecap on the dance floor. And the doctors told him that 40 years ago this kind of injury was met with amputation, because there was just no recovering from it, especially because the cartilage was completely shredded. And like none of his leg was attached to any other part of his leg? As it stood, they wanted him to go to Norway and have some experimental surgery. They weren’t sure he’d ever get full use of his leg back. The interview I read was from a year after the fact and he said even then he was limited to ‘walking’ as his only physical thing; still no running, dancing, etc, and how the Criminal Minds writers had to work around that for the season. Luckily, he has gotten full use back now.

In final news, a little while back I was watching ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows’ and made this comment to The BFF…Spoilers for Deathly Hallows and Hunger Games' Mockingjay. )

Which leads me to how I intend on finally putting up some Hunger Games fic, hopefully tomorrow, but certainly by this weekend.

Season Two.

I’ve finished season two of Teen Wolf!! So let’s talk about a few things...cutt for major spoilers for Teen Wolf. )

Also, compared to Derek's wolf form, Scott's looks so wee and pup like that sometimes it just makes me want to give him ear scritches, okay. And I fully own up to getting irate at the TV when the coach - (who I totally crush on, I don't even care) - was giving the Independence Day speech and he messed it up. He left out the, "We will not go quietly into the night, we will not give up without a fight, we're going to live on, we're going to survive," part. I mean, if you're going to do it, get it right, people!

Now I just have to wait around for season three to start like the rest of you punks.

So, Law & Order: SVU is on tomorrow night and I am not sure I am going to watch it. It guest stars Mike Tyson, which I think is in really bad taste actually. Apparently there has been some backlash about it and instead of pulling it, they just moved the episode up a week - (it was suppose to air next week). I get that he served his time and wants to remake his image, but seriously…on SVU? Come on, there are hundreds of shows on TV and if he wants to be an actor, he could go be on any of those shows - (I actually was going to suggest they could have him on any of the other Law & Orders, only to realize SVU is the only one still on the air). It just seems like a really tacky publicity ploy on the part of the producers of SVU to cast him and it just feels wrong to me. So I thought maybe I wouldn’t watch it. Except I really want my SVU! Ugh, having a morale stand on things is hard.

I was going to talk about more TV, but I have been utterly wrecked all day. I have been flushed and had a stomach ache and just feeling kind of worn down. So I did something I haven’t done in a very long while - I spent the whole day on the couch watching a House marathon. Including an episode where House & Wilson buy a condo together and then proceed to have a game of gay chicken that results in Wilson proposing to House in a public restaurant - (to which I say, 'Good play, Wilson!')

For Buffy fans, or sci-fi/genre fans in general - sadly Robin Sachs (aka Ethan Rayne) has passed away. Giles never had such a good friend/enemy/lover that he had in Ethan and Robin’s amazing character work on all the genre TV will be sorely missed. Article here.

But here is a little something for Buffy fans that will make you smile - [livejournal.com profile] shirebound took this picture the other day and I think she was either photographing Joss Whedon’s license plate or else she just found the biggest Buffy fan in the world. Because this is genius.

And now I am going to crawl back into bed and finish the day long House marathon, because I am just that cool.

The World Series is in Detroit today! We do best playing at home and we really need the win. But that’s not my point. My point is, I hate the fucking announcers. I just want Rod & Mario (the guys who announce the games for Fox Sports Detroit). At San Fransisco, the one announcer for the Series says some bullshit about how loud and revved up the SF crowd is and then he says, “I have never heard a crowd like that before. Of all the teams, San Francisco has the most enthusiastic crowd I’ve ever seen.” Bitch, listen, clearly you have never been to a game in Detroit. 3 million+ fans attended the games this year in Detroit and we are loud mother-fuckers. Yes, San Francisco has very enthusiastic fans who like to dress in costumes and dye their hair orange - (it does kind of look like a sci-fi convention or a punk rock concert out there with the outfits and stuff) - I’ll give them that. But don’t say they make the most noise of any crowd, until you’ve heard Detroit rise to its feet, okay? It got me all bristled up. So I really hope the crowd tonight in Detroit makes those announcers go deaf with it. Make some noise in the D!

Let me tell you about a dream I had last night. )

So what this dream shows us about my inner state of mind is…a) It’s baseball season in October! and b) I fell asleep watching Law & Order: SVU and c) all my sister does is lament how Psych is not coming back until February!

Look, USA Network, when you pushed Psych from a summer show last year to the fall, you told us all the summer was a better place to premiere a new show (curse you Suits!) and that Psych fans were loyal and would follow it anywhere. This is true and we did. But now you’ve pushed it this year from the fall until February and this will not stand! Yes, we are a loyal bunch but lest you forget, Psych fans are also the people that put USA Network’s original programming on the map in the first place. All these other shows you are pushing Psych aside for now? You wouldn’t even have them without the awesome stylings of Shawn & Co to begin with! (Monk fans too, but that’s not my point right now).

Go screw yourselves, USA Network, you’ve made my sister sad.

GO METS!!! I know some of you are shocked to hear me say that, but I used to watch The Mets a bit back in the day and anyways, you gotta throw out some love to fellow competitors when they deserve it. And The Mets deserve it - Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in the history of the team!!!!! Congrats, Santana!! (I kind of can't wait to see Jon Stewart's reaction come Monday night's program).

In family news, The Nephew went to a birthday party at a Bouncy House/Arcade place. His dad was playing this shooting game and it was two player but The Nephew said he didn't want to play, that he would just watch. Then this little kid came over and picked up the second gun and started pretending that he was shooting too. So The Nephew turns to the kid and says, "Do you want to play? You can play, I have money," and pulls two quarters out of his pocket and puts them in the game so the kid can play. How awesome is my boy?! When they were walking away, my brother stops him and says, "Buddy, I know that kid didn't say 'thank you', but that was a really nice thing you did," and The Nephew goes, "Yeah. I know." I LOVE THAT KID!!

Two story recs behind the cut )

Also, THANKS A BAZILLION to [livejournal.com profile] fragrantwoods for the fireworks V-gift (someday we will have scratch-n-sniff computers so I can smell the perfect afterburn - what? Yes, I like the smell of fireworks) and [livejournal.com profile] denyce for the delicious looking cupcake!!

I am slowly catching up on LJ-things after having gotten so far behind when my brother was visiting and then the week of sleeping that followed. I am making myself not comment on everything, and I'll be slowly picking away at it this week.

In Sum: I have Law And Order: SVU on in the background and Garret Dillahunt is playing a creepy ass child-molester. How can a guy that funny play a guy that creepy?

Well, halfway through the month and I finally get around to posting this. My word count for last month! The lowest yet this year, but still more than double my ‘500 words a week’ goal - considering I had The Tilting Virus all month, I am quite happy with this.

A few new things this month - I started the month with the urge to write porn. When I think porn, I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan. So I tried for a pairing I had never done before and went JDM/Jensen. Though, of course, I wrote 750 words and still haven’t gotten to the actual porn yet. /shakes head/ Then I also started my first Leverage fic ever, thanks to mid-afternoon reruns on TNT. But mostly, March was about The Hunger Games.

[livejournal.com profile] lizibabes was encouraging me to write a threesome in this fandom and I told her, “Well, I already wrote my gen fic and then I have to finish my Gale/Finnick fic and then I want to start my Johanna/Annie fic and after that I have an idea for a Gale/Peeta fic and then I’ll write a threesome. Oh…huh. I guess it is official - I have a new fandom!”

Here is my approximate word count for the month.

March, 2012
Week 1/2: 750 words of JDM/Jensen PWP.
Week One: 1,200 words of Hunger Games Gen fic. Completed.
Week Two: 700 words of Leverage AU.
Week Three: 1,000 words of Gale/Finnick fic.
Week Four: 1,550 words of Johanna/Annie fic.

5,200 words written in March!

Fics posted in March, 2011. )

Not as many fics completed in March as usual, but I am working on them this month. I am wicked excited to be trying out two new fandoms! I have lots of ideas for The Hunger Games and Leverage. So far this month I have finished the Gale/Finnick fic and written some more Without A Trace. I also have some LJ-peeps celebrating birthdays soon, so I hope to write some fics for them before the end of the month.

So, last night I had two very distinct dreams.

The first one is really too embarrassing to tell you about, even though it was also quite funny. Let's just say it involved me, Christian Kane and Steve Carlson. And it was really graphic, which was nice for me. But the end proved once again that I am a big giant sap. I Mary-Sued myself into my own dreams in the most Mary-Sue-way of all.

The second dream was awesome, though I can't remember a lot of detailed specifics. In it there was a demon brothel - as in humans were kidnapped and forced to work as sex slaves in a brothel that serviced only demons. It was being investigated by the FBI, including people from the TV show "Numb3rs" and the show "Without a Trace". (my boy, Danny Taylor, was there!) On the demon side of things, unbeknownst to the FBI, it was being investigated by Angel the Vampire Detective who was teamed up with Shawn and Gus from "Psych".

It all makes total sense in my head!

The FBI had this special scanning device so that they could see what was going on inside the brothel. It seemed like what it should show was heat images, thermal outlines indicating humans and demons. Instead, what the computer monitored showed was what looked like Sims. Sim human women having sex with Sim demons - graphically. The Sim demons were all various colors with various horns and tentacles coming out of their heads and other body parts.

Then the FBI burst in at the same time as Angel, only they were all like, "Freeze, FBI!" and Angel just went about ripping all the demons' heads off. As one does. I seem to recall something at the end where both Danny Taylor and Gus took home kids they found at the brothel whose parents had been killed by the demons. I am pretty sure, somehow, that the one Gus offered to take home was actually a vampire-kid. Do you think Gus will love him anyways?

In Sum: MultiFandom Crossover Dream FTW!!

So, one of my friends was talking the other day about Must-See Christmas Specials. I am about to pop off to bed and watch my two 'absolute musts', A Charlie Brown's Christmas and Mickey's Christmas Carol. But I was thinking what else is on the list and must be viewed at least every few years.

My List, In No Particular Order... )

In the spirit of this and as my Christmas Joy to you all, here is this vid I found on the youtube. It has most of my childhood favorites in it and the music being used is my favorite Glee Christmas song of all time. I get all happy when I hear this song on The Grinch, so I was extra happy when they did it on Glee.

Welcome all Whos far and near!

That’s right, I said A Hot Pink Princess Tiara Piñata. Thirty-three isn’t too old for one of those, is it?

So, my sister went shopping for party supplies for The Nephew’s birthday a few weeks ago and came back to report that they had a purple castle piñata at the store. Me and The BFF made noises of delight and then we all laughed. After a few minutes of sitting and staring blankly at whatever was on the TV - (our favorite show - Without a Criminal Bones: SVU) - in utter silence, The BFF says, "Dammit, now I want a piñata." My sister replies, "I’ll see what I can do."

I think nothing more of it.

Only to awaken on my birthday to find a hot pink princess tiara piñata hanging from the light fixture in the kitchen.

You want to know something? I had never done a piñata before. Not just for my own birthday, but not even at anyone’s else party either. At thirty-three, I found that a sad fact. WHICH HAS NOW BEEN RECTIFIED!!! I totally put a crack in it myself, but it was The BFF who sent it flying and exploding everywhere while my sister frantically grabbed for candy. Then disappointed that she hadn’t gotten a turn, my sister proceeded to beat on the damn thing even after it was dead.

I have to say, beating things with sticks is a great stress reliever. Ya’ll should try it at some point in your life, if you never have or don’t regularly beat things with sticks.

Also, I think you guys all rule, so let me say thanks one more time...for my birthday messages and LJ gifts and also there are a few recs for things what I got for my birthday behind this cut. )

Did I forget anyone? I hope not. Let me reiterate - YOU ARE ALL MADE OF AWESOMESAUCE AND IT IS DELICIOUS! Things happened over the weekend, I shall report later. But right now I have to go eat chicken and I believe we are starting "Life on Mars" tonight.

Here, have this picture of my sister’s cat just after he got caught trying to eat The BFF’s birthday flowers, and this picture of the other cat playing with the wrapping paper tissue and the broken and busted hot pink princess tiara piñata.

BROTHERS!! )
