I just watched this last week’s SYTYCD. I have kind of mixed feelings on the Tucker vs. Nico thing. While I think Nico is adorable and talented, I have been rooting for Tucker, in part because his story speaks so much to me. I mean, he was in a terrible accident and the doctors told him he would actually never even walk again and yet here he is competing on a hardcore dance show. But that said…Spoilers for the latest ep )

On a side note…NEIL! He’s lost that baby-face and his body has filled out and wow. If it weren’t for his unmistakable legs/feet combo, idk if I would have recognized him. Neil is basically the reason I watch the show. I was flipping the channels one day and I came across SYTYCD, third season, never even heard of this show before and Neil was performing and fuck, I couldn’t take my eyes off him. Completely enraptured. After that, I started watching regularly, cheering for Neil the whole way. You know, I never really had a barefoot kink in my life, but Neil - his legs are always so straight, his lines are gorgeous, his feet are always perfectly pointed and he almost always dances in barefeet and fuck, by the end of Season 3 - barefoot-kink all over the place. I had forgotten all this until I saw him dance in this latest episode and was re-kink-itized all over again. They are simply gorgeous feet, okay!

Some SYTYCD vids under the cut for your viewing pleasure! )

In sum: I just had to recharge my IPad keyboard for the first time since I got the IPad in like February - that’s an impressive battery life!

+ [livejournal.com profile] ceitfianna was here for a visit the last few days! We rewatched some Teen Wolf S3, some Vikings, the Ringers documentary. We went out to Applebees - (their Chicken Fajita Rollups are yum!). We had a great little visit!
- This was our last hurrah before she moves back East. I fought the urge to lock her in the storage room downstairs and keep her forever, but she’ll be missed around these parts.
+ The Nephew is coming for a visit this weekend!
+ I have finished The Nephew’s fic!
- He has already given me another prompt for another fic. I told him that he’ll have to wait for that one because ‘writing is hard’ and he told me, “No, it’s not. It’s just typing words.” That little shit!
+ I have now also finished his fic art! Science Bros FTW!
+ I have finished [livejournal.com profile] jojothecr’s birthday fic!
- I have not finished the art.
+ I have baseball to watch tomorrow!
+ The weather is glorious and the temperature just perfect! /knock on virtual wood/
- Used the last remains of my foundation makeup this weekend and have been stealing my sister’s ever since. Not a good color match!
- I forgot to pick up a binder for The Nephew to keep all his fics in that I wrote him, because he keeps ‘misplacing’ them. (a nice way of saying that kid needs to clean his room!)
- I forgot to get my labwork done last week.
- My neck hurts. A lot.
+ Sister brought home gourmet cupcakes. Mine tasted like a root beer float!
+ I found the site that lists songs used in TV episodes! Switched at Birth soundtrack will soon be added to my playlist!
- They only have five Chicago Fire songs listed. Will have to research more for that soundtrack.
- At SDCC, they announced a spin-off series for Supernatural. DO. NOT. WANT. (nope, won't be watching).
- Bunheads got canceled. Sad-face.
+ Found out New Girl at therapy is a Teen Wolf fan! Have a RL person to talk about this shit with!
- Have not seen hardly any of either of The Things in a few weeks. Miss my adorable boys.
- My sister has canceled her weekend-long trip to Chicago with The Nephew in favor of a day trip with my little brother’s whole family to Michigan Adventure. This means I will not get to have the whole house to myself for a weekend. Am majorly bummed about this.
+ Convinced her that we should plan for an October trip to Chicago for grown-up fun instead, i.e. visiting friends. [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth, [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep and [livejournal.com profile] rhymephile - This. Means. You!
- Haven’t written at all this week.
+ Have so many ‘family’ themed fic ideas for Teen Wolf! They are trying to push their way out of my head.
+ Rediscovered my Matt Nathanson album. Still love it.
+ Going to get into bed now.

Just a look at some new shows I started watching in 2012. Apparently I started watching a lot of TV last year, so I’ll try to keep it brief. Thankfully these don’t all air during the same time of year!

Under the cut for spaceage. )

Also, last year I started watching four shows that are not new, but were new to me, and are now in my regular viewing line-up; Teen Wolf, Leverage, Community & Paranormal Witness. I don’t know how I am going to like this one-a-week thing when Community comes back - I just want to mainline 12 episodes in a row. And, yeah, I am still crying into my pillow over Leverage’s cancellation.

So, that is all the new shows I started watching last year - I know, holy shit, right?! If you want to know more or want to discuss any of these shows, just drop me a comment.

First, let’s talk about “Breaking Pointe”. Who watched it? I was sad it only lasted 6 episodes, especially since I have no idea whether or not they are going to bring it back next year. I was so engrossed in it. Okay, so for those of you that don’t know - it was a reality TV show that went behind the scenes at Ballet West, a major ballet company out of Salt Lake. It had some amazing dancing in it and as a dance-geek, I feel like I learned a lot about the inside world of dance - not to mention the terminology! The reality-TV level of it was about at Teen Mom, which I admit to guiltily watching, but in between that reality-TV style soap opera stuff, there was some serious dancing - so it was like the best of both worlds. It was harsh sometimes though…Spoilers be here. )

I think if I ever get a chance to see the performance of “Emeralds” that I will. It may have just been the amazing costumes but I thought it looked like a beautiful show when they performed it at the end.

Now, who is watching “Bunheads”? Okay, when I called all my RL peeps and told them, “I think it will be like Gilmore Girls but with dancing,” I could not have been more right. It is Gilmore Girls. Grandma Gilmore is on it. The lead looks and acts and talks just like Lorelai. She lives in a small quirky town filled with quirky people. It feels so much like The Gilmore Girls that sometimes I expect Jared to come walking into the room. But that’s good, because I did like The Gilmore Girls in that easy kind of way where you don’t have to think too much about it but you know each episode will be zany and fun. The big surprise has been how much the four teenage girls at the dance studio have played a part in each episode, how they have their own storylines and such. I figured they would be more background, but they have stories of their own. Plus, there is more dancing than I expected - I figured they would back-burner the dancing after awhile. Not a ton of dancing, but more than I thought there would be. Spoilers be here. )

I was going to do So You Think You Can Dance as well, but while I was typing this out The Little Brother called and we were on the phone for an hour. We had a really good conversation about many things but now it is time for bed. Perhaps tomorrow.
