Being sick has sparked a lot of hospital nightmares. As I sleep, I can tell how sick I feel and that sparks medical thoughts in my brain or something. I keep dreaming about having heart-attacks, because the albuterol is making my heart race. And one night I dreamed that K died of a heart-attack, but before that we had hooked up, and I woke up unsure which of those two things was more disturbing. So any dreams I have these days that aren’t nightmares should be celebrated.

My Fandom Dreams Under The Cut. )

Anyways, those were my dreams. Someday I should tell you all about the one where Stiles and I got together with the help of a serial killer.

I finished another book! I'm already reading a new book! (A re-read of Catching Fire). I'd like to finish it before we see the movie this weekend, but I probably won't get all the way through. I just hit the spot where they enter the arena, so yeah, I've been crying for the last half hour. These fucking books kill me every damn time. And I haven't even gotten over the massive feels from my last book yet! Anyways...here we go:

1. What was the last book you read? - Birthright...and it's companion, Another Brick In The Wall. (Technically, it's a fanfic, but not in my head. 700+ pages, in paperback form, it's a book. Right?)
2. What was the last TV show you watched? - American Horror Story: Coven. (Season 3 is the best by far! Witches!)
3. What was the last movie you watched? - Clueless. (For the 127-ish time, but who gets tired of Clueless?)
4. What was the last album you listened to? - Community 101. (a Community fanmix).
5. What was the last video game you played? - Uh, Hidden Objects 'Monsters'?
Bonus Round: What was the last fanfic you read? Creaking Floorboards, a Viggo/Sean piece. Or possibly, Enjoy The Silence, a Chuck/Mako/Raleigh piece. (I highly recommend them both!)

IT'S INTERNATIONAL TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!!! I HOPE YOU'VE ALL BEING SAYING, 'ARGH, AVAST, MATEY,' ALL DAMN DAY!!

I think my cousin pointed this holiday out to me on the third year these guys were doing it, so quite awhile ago, because it's a whole thing now! International Talk Like A Pirate Day = proof of what some dudes can do with a ridiculous thought and the internet.

Have this video of Lego Pirates dancing to "What Do You Do With A Drunken Sailor?"

I think the shark is my favorite.

(and I swear this is The Irish Rovers singing this song - Mom took me to see them in concert several times as a child).

Randomly, today I thought about Community as The Stand - (which is like the highest form of compliment my brain can pay a show, honestly). Jeff is the disgraced ex-lawyer trying to outrun his past. Annie is the senior class president who was brought down by her drug addiction. Shirley's husband ran off with another woman a year before the outbreak that ended up taking their children. Britta has always claimed she wanted to save the world, but she's starting to think she kind of likes it better like this. Troy was the most popular boy in high school, thought he had it all figured out, until now. Abed didn't know what to do after his father died from the plague, so he buried him and kept going in every day and opening up the falafel shop. Pierce is the crazy old billionaire, content to stay locked away in his mansion until the dreams told him to go to Greendale Community College Boulder.

Yeah, that's how my brain works.

So, Wednesday I wrote a scene in a fic and then half of the next scene. And when I went back, the earlier scene was gone. Just…gone. I don’t know what happened to it! My sister tried to help me recover it, but it was a no-go. It was such a good scene too, the banter was spot-on. It was only 9pm and I had planned on writing until 10, but I was so upset about it and suddenly I felt too exhausted to even keep my eyes open. I literally climbed into bed and got under the covers at 9 at night.

But after I got in bed, I was flipping channels and I came across Iron Man 2, just in time for Coulson to tell Tony Stark that he would, ‘gladly taser you and then watch Supernanny while you drool on the carpet.’ Coulson always makes me feel better. Then my sister brought my IPad in and said she had been watching Community vids on it. We just started a rewatch - (apparently this is all my sister will ever want to watch from now on, but I can’t really complain about that) - and we were wondering how many scenes we would be able to recognize now that we have seen the full run. We noted that one of the scenes vidders use a lot in Jeff/Annie vids is actually about how Annie is in love with Troy while Jeff is a manipulative bastard, but it looks like something else entirely when set to music.

I spent a while watching Community vids myself and then decided to read some Community fic. There was this one story where Annie ends up dating the Black Rider - (there is actually a character tag for ‘Black Rider’ on AO3, btw) - whose name is Josh because obviously and then Jeff gets all jealous and I didn’t realize it was 20,000 words until I was already invested! I spent a good hour+ reading that - it was fun. There was this one scene where Abed is giving Jeff advice and Jeff asks Abed if anyone ever tells him how important he is and Abed says, “Troy tells me everyday.” Omg, you guys, The Feels!

On Thursday, I felt like crap and I think maybe I have an ear infection, idk, but that explains some of the tiredness the night before. I spent most of the afternoon reading fanfic and I am putting together a rec list, cuz there were some good ones in there. Then, in the evening, I made myself tackle the missing scene in my fic again because I knew if I let it sit, it would be weeks before I went back to it. I think I recaptured it pretty well, but the banter isn’t nearly as good as it was the first time around. But I pressed on and finished the scene after it as well, so about 3k written this week. I’ll take that.

So the Birthday Weekend went very well! The weather was not 100% but we worked around it. We were outside with our feet in the pool for a half hour or so when it started to rain. It was just sprinkles and our feet were already wet, so what the hell. But then it started to rain harder. Luckily there is an overhang where we have the picnic table and the grill, so we could stay outside. And why yes, we did watch The Hobbit for the 5th or 6th time since it came out in the theater - what of it? We also watched the Community Paintball Trilogy, the pilot of Defiance, some S2 SPN (Nightshifter & Folsom Prison Blues) and the girls watched some Pretty Little Liars in the morning.

There was great food too, like an orgasm in my mouth. The grilled apricot was like a taste explosion! And the chicken and veggies were glazed with some kind of peanut sauce and it was heavenly. But the best were the tiny little potatoes. Besides being all wee and cute (and purple!) they were the best thing my mouth has ever tasted. I'm not even kidding. We had the leftovers tonight and I have never been so excited for dinner in my life. It was ridiculous. (And there is just enough left for one more meal!)

Oh, also...dudes, The Sister's BFF brought her one extra present I didn't know about. She got her the official WETA replica of Thorin's map! It's so cool. And if you hold it up to the light, you can see the runes!! My sis is going to take it in to a framing place and see if they can help her get a light-box for it. I can't wait for The Nephew to see it!

The only downside to the weekend was... )

That minor annoyance aside...Very. Excellent. Weekend.

Just a look at some new shows I started watching in 2012. Apparently I started watching a lot of TV last year, so I’ll try to keep it brief. Thankfully these don’t all air during the same time of year!

Under the cut for spaceage. )

Also, last year I started watching four shows that are not new, but were new to me, and are now in my regular viewing line-up; Teen Wolf, Leverage, Community & Paranormal Witness. I don’t know how I am going to like this one-a-week thing when Community comes back - I just want to mainline 12 episodes in a row. And, yeah, I am still crying into my pillow over Leverage’s cancellation.

So, that is all the new shows I started watching last year - I know, holy shit, right?! If you want to know more or want to discuss any of these shows, just drop me a comment.

So I voted on the People’s Choice Awards for the first time in my life. Walking Dead FTW!! I really just went over there to browse, but I ended up voting in a few categories. Walking Dead was up under Sci-Fi and Cable Drama, so I voted there. If Justified had been up for a cable drama, I might have had to go that route, but it wasn’t, so…TWD FTW!!! But what I really want to talk about is the movie ‘on-screen chemistry’ category. It was about chemistry and I was hoping there might be some same-sex options in there - (I friend-ship the hell out of Tony-Bruce, but I couldn’t really think of any others from recent movies that I wanted to see in there). The nominations made it clear that it wasn’t just romantic options, because Jeremy/Scarlett were on the list - (they did have amazing chemistry together, didn’t they?). Even without RDjr-Ruffalo, I say that the People’s Choice Awards get kudos for progressiveness...because there was a Threesome option!!! Remember while I was reading the Hunger Games and I was like, “Omg, Gale/Katniss!” and then after the movie I was all, “Omg, Peeta/Katniss!” and then I was like, “What do I do? Oh right, OT3!” and then I freaked out at therapy in front of that old lady? Yeah - Jennifer/Josh/Liam - OT3 FTW!! I totally voted for them. It actually doesn’t seem quite right though, because I don’t think Josh and Liam had any screen time together - (did they?). They just didn’t want to divide up the ‘ships - (like me, someone at the PCAs couldn’t pick either!) - and anyways, I support threesomes! I was kind of bummed to see Community didn’t get a nomination though. Anyhoo, now I guess I have to pay attention to the winners. Though I am still not watching the actual awards show.

And now…fic! I have no Thanksgiving story this year - (I did like one year and that is it) - but this year I have written in several new fandoms. I have three stories ready to go and I thought I would post one on like Monday. Now I just can’t decide which one to go with. So I am just going to put up a bit from each fic without telling you what new fandom of mine it is in and then let you pick which one grabs your interest more. Mostly this is just a more fun way for me to decide, rather than doing eeny-meeny-miny-mo.

[Poll #1879269]

Finally, Jeremy Renner is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend! Tivo is set to go!

It has been a suckfest this week. It started out really good when [livejournal.com profile] anyothergirl415 started talking to me about Without A Trace and I convinced her to try some Danny/Martin and then proceeded to spend the next day and a half reading old fics and watching old fanvids and just generally reliving one of my favorite pairings ever, ever, ever.

But on Tuesday we got a phone call from my dad that the doctors want to do surgery on his leg. They wanted him to get into this rehab ward last year and he refused to go. By the time he finally decided to do it, their options had shrunk considerably because the leg was in such bad shape - (infections have taken their toll). The thing about my dad is that he is in really bad health and weighs more than I would like to admit. He is high risk when it comes to both atheistic and post-surgery infections. But it is basically their only option and I understand his decision that this is worth the risk because his quality of life is so poor. Needless to say, there is a really high chance my dad won't fare well with this surgery and we are all bracing ourselves for that.

Like a top that won't stop spinning. )

Plus side: I did finally manage to get my labwork drawn. I have been awake late every night which did mean that I got to watch Ferguson's first week at the new studio. I was also awake to see that JDM was going to be his guest, which somehow I hadn’t set to tape, so I caught that as well. The BFF came down early this afternoon so we could watch SYTYCD together just like old times. Also, she posted the first chapter of my birthday story, which deserves a rec post of its own so that it doesn't get lost amongst all of this crap I just threw at you. And she brought down the new S3 Community dvds.

In Sum: I started typing this post in the afternoon but didn’t get around to post it until 10:30 at night, and after several episodes of Community, I already feel the weight of this week lifting off me. Community: It heals all ails. Still...sucky week.

I need Community icons now. I need Community everything, pretty much, all the time now. I had seen a few special episodes (paintball #2, Law & Order, etc), but my sister got The BFF the first two seasons for her birthday last week and we spent the whole holiday weekend marathoning the first season. I love them all. I can't pick a favorite - but oh, I know where I stand on the shipping because that thing that happened at the end of the first season? Oh Yeah. My sister and I need to run out and buy our own copies because The BFF will be taking hers with her and WE NEED ALL THE COMMUNITY!! You know I am like gone crazy about this because I have been thinking about a Plague Apocalypse where the members of the study group start meeting up with each other, you know, having been strangers before. Think "The Stand" but with The Community peeps. Fun, right? (you know I have gone for a new show when I start 'apocalypsing' it).

Anyhoo, all of this leads me to [livejournal.com profile] flawed_x_design's birthday!!! Happy birthday!! [livejournal.com profile] flawed_x_design pointed out to me awhile back how Misha Collins and Joel McHale were friends, showed me that Misha went to Joel's birthday party and gave me clips of Misha on The Soup with Joel and...well, it's pretty much all her fault that I ship Misha/Joel now!!! ALL HER FAULT!!! And now that I am all about Joel McHale, this makes me even happier. So, in that honor...

This is Misha. This is Joel.
This is Misha and Joel.

Want, take, have, everyone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABY!!!
