dodger_sister: (boys being boys)
Let's start with baseball - and you should just be prepared for this to happen more and more often the closer we get to October. We have an ELEVEN game winning streak going on right now!!! Last night we went fourteen innings before taking the lead and the game. My boy, Don Kelly, is getting a lot of play lately too and that makes me happy. We just won three against Cleveland, which is good because they've been riding our asses all year. (I do miss the White Sox though - we had such a good battle last year, I'm sorry to see what a bad year they are having). Otoh, Nick Swisher is playing for Cleveland now, so it gives me a place to put my rage.

I've been watching 'Camp' this summer and omg, this show is SO much fun! Idk what about it is hitting all my buttons but I am enjoying the hell out of this little summer show! And I am now shipping Grace/Robbie like burning. I just wish the show did a better job of informing us how old the characters are, because we have a variety of age ranges on the actors, playing a mix of high school to college age kids, and it's hard to tell how old the characters are meant to be. But if Grace is 17 (and some throwaway lines indicate she may be) then shipping her with Robbie just got way less creepy than when I thought she was 15. God, Robbie needs to break up with Sarah. Grace would make such a good rebound relationship for him! Ugh, I Need It.

Also, ‘This Is The End’ has kind of ruined everything for me, in that it randomly pops into my head at inopportune moments. Like watching a SYTYCD routine with these gorgeous white costumes and this beautiful look to it and BAM, the final scene from ‘This Is The End’ popped into my head and ruined the whole thing! Thanks, Seth Rogen, thanks a lot. Also, I have been pulled into the sidelines of the Pacific Rim fandom this summer via The BFF and her tumblr and her rampant squee - (albeit totally deserving rampant squee) - and the other day I was flipping through a filmography on IMDB and one of the movies was 'Big Fat Gypsy Gangster'. I scrolled past it twice and each time I read the word 'gangster' as 'Danger'. I was insistent there was a movie titled 'Big Fat Gipsy Danger'. I completely blame The BFF for this. She's a ruiner. Ruiner, I tell you! Also, she accidentally left her car unlocked the other day and someone broke into it, rifled around and then stole her bag of dark chocolate M&Ms. That’s right - someone broke into The BFF’s car, left her GPS and her radio and whatever else she had in there and just stole her bag of M&Ms. I hope they ate too many and threw up afterwards!

Finally, my little brother & family are spending the night tonight so that my sister can go with them to Michigan Adventure amusement park first thing in the morning. Which means I will get the whole house to myself for about nine hours tomorrow! I plan to art, play my music super loud, get some writing in, spend the whole day in my bra and jeans, finish catching up on my TV, watch some baseball, sing at the top of my lungs and possibly post a fic. Enjoy your weekends all!

To preface this story, let me say that K's middle child - henceforth known as Boy - was born not long before I - as K so lovingly puts it - 'disappeared on him', way back when. So by the time we reconnected, this kid was around 13. And even last summer when Boy was working in the clinic - he just looked so freaking young. But this summer I noticed he’d filled out a little and lost some of his ganglyness. And now, suddenly, he looks just like his father. He even has the same haircut K had back when he was younger. And he's in the clinic’s standard khakis and polo shirt and sometimes I catch sight of him and he looks so much like K, that I imagine this is what using a time machine to go back to a different moment in your life feels like, because I get transported back twenty years like woah.

Anyway, Boy is super sweet, quiet, polite & professional. I have this theory that he is going through his teenage rebellion by being the compete opposite of his father; the loud, smart mouth who 'thinks he's funny but he's being really, really childish'. As far as teenage rebellions go, I think K is getting off easy. So, Boy was telling me the other day about how his family is going to Florida - (to pick up one of his sisters) - and they were going to let him stay home alone, but he doesn't like to stay home alone. I was all, "Uh, you're what, 17? And you want to go on vacation with your family? That's not normal." He said he gets weirded out when he goes for a whole day without speaking to anyone. I told him all the things I like to do when I get the house to myself - minus the part about how I like to walk around in my underwear because it felt inappropriate to spring that on the kid - (and yes, I am still upset that my sister's weekend trip turned into a day trip, but whatever, I've got the whole house to myself on Friday!). I was basically like, 'I'm not having dance parties or anything, but the freedom of it can still be liberating.'

Cue yesterday when K tells me that he and Boy #2 are headed out later in the week, but the rest of the family had already left - minus Boy. And I was like, "Really? He said he was going with you guys." And K goes, "Yeah. It was weird. He said he hates staying home alone and then he came home a few days ago and declared that he had changed his mind. Out of nowhere." And I went, "Oh, um...oops." Then I told him my theory about how Boy is rebelling against him by being a nice polite young man, you know, the opposite of K himself. And K was all, "Why is everyone picking on me today?!" And I was like, "Your life is so sad, dude." Then I mentioned how his one daughter is a total smart-mouth though and acts just like him, and he was all, "Yeah, I know, she is," but he was beaming like a total proud papa over it.

I found it all very cute.

C came over on Saturday and we cooked out, played a trivia game, sat around with our feet in the pool and chatted, then watched a movie. She brought her daughter along and we ended up talking about some issues she has been having that I actually was able to say, “I had those issues when I was your age and you would never guess it to know me now,” which I actually felt like I was able to help a little. We also talked a lot about young adult books and movies and C's two sons and all of their crazy drama. It was a really good day, actually.

I also watched a lot of movies this weekend...cut for space. )

And now I have spent all my time talking about those movies and didn’t even get to the documentary I watched, which honestly deserves a post of its own because the story behind it is so bizarre.
dodger_sister: (independence day)
So, the one other thing we did over the Birthday Weekend was Sunday evening, The Sister and I went to see "This Is The End." I have never laughed so much during a movie in my life. Not even kidding. It's funny-stupid in the way that Zoolander is funny-stupid and also in the way that Seth Rogen movies are funny...but more-so because they were ripping on themselves the whole movie. I mean, the premise is what would Seth Rogen and his friends do in an apocalypse? And clearly they realize that the correct answer would be...Freak Out and Flail Everywhere! There's this scene in Knocked Up where Paul Rudd & Seth Rogen's characters go to Vegas and do ‘shrooms and Paul won't stop freaking out about the height of the chairs in the hotel. That scene made me laugh until I cried tears...and This Is The End was like the Vegas Chair scene for 90% of the movie. Also, Jay Baruchel was the lead in it and I have had a crush on him for years, so that was a lovely treat. And the cameos! Omg, the cameos! I don't want to ruin it but you guys, they seriously got every person they have ever known in their life to be in this movie! Which is half of what made it so damn funny. It did have that crude humor that Rogen movies often have, so it is not for the easily offended (or those squicked by projectile vomiting), but it was so fucking funny!

The movie was based off a fake trailer that Seth & Jay made for youtube for funsies called 'Jay and Seth Versus The Apocalypse', that is basically them trapped in a room in their underwear at the end of days. But then apparently Seth was like, "Hey, that would be kind of funny. We could just make a whole movie on that shit. And get Franco to be in it." (Franco was the best riff because he played himself as this pretentious douchehole hipster). I read this interview with Seth that said about a month before shooting started, the studio got nervous and said they didn't think it would work with the guys all playing themselves. So Seth tells them, 'It's cool, we'll just shoot two versions and one will be where we aren't playing ourselves.' Only they didn't. And Seth was like, ‘This has to work!’ through the whole shoot because they had nothing else to take to the studio.

Jay & Seth VS The Apocalypse and This Is The End trailer under the cut. )

Seriously, I laughed so hard that I was flushed and overheated and exhausted by the time the movie was over. I had to come home and lay down in bed with the fan on me for like ten minutes just to recuperate. Hysterical, you guys.
dodger_sister: (that's my man)
I want to talk about "Scrubs". More specifically, The Todd.

So, over the last several months, my household has been doing a rewatch of Scrubs. This is one of those shows that we have seen the majority of episodes through reruns...so like all out of order. So now we are watching them in order.

Now anyone who has spent anytime here at my journal is not the least bit surprised that The Todd is my man - (he is my type, after all). In fact, whenever he does anything especially Todd-like, I like to pump my fist in the air and declare, "That's my man," to which someone in the room usually responds, "Not something to be proud of." (Even though, of course, they all love him too).

The more we watch of Scrubs, the more like The Todd I seem to become (which is saying something, since I am already at least halfway there).

Let me give you some examples. )

Also, when I went looking for pics of The Todd, I found a series of images of him totally naked with a doctor's clipboard covering his "area". I'll say it again, that's my man.

That's My Man High-Five!

I am appalled at how few The Todd icons there are out there. I found like three and none of him giving a 'high-five'. However, a not-really-surprising number of places I looked at Scrubs icons, also had Jensen Ackles icons. Including some really pretty ones here,, if you want to take a look.

I keep having dreams about The Todd, but they are really in-depth dreams, with plots and everything - so I'll have to save those for a different day.
dodger_sister: (holiday 3)
a) I finished The Nephew's project last night!! I also recruited The BFF to make cover art. At some point, (re: after the holiday chaos), I will post it for ya'll to read and tell you the origin story of how Awesome my nephew is. Which you already know anyways.

b) THANK YOU to the peeps - [livejournal.com profile] rhymephile, [livejournal.com profile] aythia and [livejournal.com profile] fragrantwoods - who sent me some delicious V-cookies of adorable snowmen. I did not lick the computer screen in an attempt to eat them. /shifty-eyes/

c) The BFF and I already did our gift exchange, as she had to away to her folks for the holiday - (it is so sad that she hasn't been gone 24 hours and I had to call her and talk for like an hour about Jensen, Chad, X-Men, Dark Alec and porn in general). Anyways, she got me the best present ever, you guys. It's just...You'll never guess what it is, but I will upload a picture of it at some point, I promise. Because seriously, I can't stop staring at it and I kind of want to carry it everywhere with me. Okay?

d) HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my favorite people in the whole wide world, like ever. [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth!!

True story about how I met [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth - she was LJ friends with my sister (way before I had an LJ of my own) and they (along with some other of their LJ peeps) decided to go see an orchestra play the LotR movie score. My sister invited me too. We went and had an awesome time and I left thinking, "Hey, that one chick was really cool." Then my sister got me into "Band of Brothers" and after I saw it, I started reading some BoB fanfic. One day, I said to my sis, "You should read this series by this chick, [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth." And my sister just stared at me and said, "You are an idiot," and walked away. As it turns out, I had already met [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth in Real Life and didn't even know it. Then she came for a visit, there was much drinking and ogling of hot men and something about underwear.

And now I love her to smishy pieces. The End.

So, Happy (slightly belated) Birthday, babe! Since it's almost Christmas, have this beautiful snowy pic of Doc Roe.

Click for the beauty. )

e) It's bad luck to end on an even number, so I will end with this...Hopefully tomorrow I will get to watch "Elf". Then I will spend a good week answering the phone, "Buddy the Elf. What's your favorite color?", as I do every time I watch this movie.

TV Talk!!!

Nov. 3rd, 2011 12:19 am
dodger_sister: (television)
Let's talk TV!! Just a few random thoughts I have on a slew of shows I watch…

Some mild spoils for Supernatural and H50. )

NCIS:LA: Nell and Eric were adorable in their uniforms!! Awwwww. You know what made up for Kensi's all-too-brief appearance on H5-0? KENSI IN HER UNDERWEAR!! KENSI IN HER UNDERWEAR!! I am not surprised it was black underwear but it was very sporty. I would have thought the tough chick secretly wore really girly underwear. Not that I've spent an unreasonable amount of time thinking about Kensi's underwear.

Totally spoilery for The Walking Dead and American Horror Story. )

Death Valley: If you are not watching this show - WHY NOT? It's on MTV and you should start watching it right the fuck now. I know, you are all, "But it's on MTV." No, don't let that stop you - it's like COPS but with vampires and werewolves and zombies. And not like an apocalypse, but just like normal everyday life going on with these supernatural beings as a daily part of it. You don't need to know anything about it to jump right in - so JUMP RIGHT IN. Billy is my cop boyfriend and I know he is a douche-idiot, but god I love him. He is like The Todd from "Scrubs" except instead of being a surgeon with a scalpel, he is a cop with a gun. He's like...he's...I can't even explain it to you, but he is like my perfect man. And that probably explains so much about me to all of you.

Glee: Glee came back last night and Tivo missed it!! It didn't tape. Apparently it was listed as a rerun and lots of people missed it because their Tivos/DVRs didn't pick it up. Boo!! I wasn't that excited about its return, but still.. PUCK.

Wilfred: I recently found myself really, really missing this genius little show. I have quite a wait in store. I am really worried about what the ending of the season means for Bear.

Psych: I have waaaaaay too many thoughts, so let's just go with - WHO SAW LASSITER/ZACHARIAH?! Yes, Zachariah like Kurt Fuller. THEY WERE CUDDLING!!!!!!! IT'S CANON ON THE SHOW NOW, RIGHT?! Sadly, Woody (Kurt Fuller) seems to be married.

Once Upon a Time and Grimm: I have started watching these but it is still too early for me to have any thoughts. I like to give all new shows like three episodes before I decide one way or another. They both seem to have good potential though.

There are a few other shows that I watch too, but I think that is all the thoughts I have for now.

In Sum: Billy/Me/The Todd would be my ideal lifemate scenario. Also - KENSI IN HER UNDERWEAR!!!
dodger_sister: (drunkards)
Ya'll are lucky I am even here right now - my Plants VS Zombies game came in the mail yesterday. I played for at least three hours. I have at last come up for air. So, since I am back in the world of the living momentarily, I thought I should continue on with the story of my Awesome Vacation.

Firstly, The BFF would like me to tell you all her favorite story from our Roadtrip - (yep, I say Roadtrip with a capital letter) - in which we went through Quebec and no one spoke English. We were walking into a Harvey's - (basically their version of Burger King only better) - and this man runs up to open the door for us - (because Canadians are nice, even the French ones). Then, because it is polite to thank people, and because Merci is one word we do know in French, The BFF responded with a "Merci." The man then proceeds to try to have a full-on conversation with her in French. She just smiled and nodded. Also, ordering from the 16yr old behind the counter, who didn't speak English, was an experience. It involved hand gestures.

And now the rest of my story...and at the end, I married George Weasley. )

Was that long enough? Did I miss anything else, [livejournal.com profile] liptonrm?

Oh, you want pictures?

I know, you all want baby pictures and wedding pictures, but...I have only been doing this LJ thing for a year. I'm still not comfortable putting up pictures of myself on the internet. And I certainly won't put up pictures of other people, because it's weird to be all putting them on my secret journal that is so secret I won't let them read it.

But how about a picture of the view from gorgeous downtown Stowe, Vermont instead?

Our Room With A View... )

And that concludes my epic series. I hope you enjoyed. I now have Zombies to kill.

ETA: Just thought I should give proper credit to The BFF for the amazing pictures. She's quite handy with the camera.
dodger_sister: (hug)
So, I noticed last night, that according to my info page - the last post I made; the random one about my cousin's kid visiting, and seeing my grandpa, and meeting my physical therapist's daughter - WAS MY 200TH POST!!!

I find it amusing that it was just random shit from my daily life and not me fangirl-ing something - because when I got this LJ, I figured it would only contain me squeeing/ranting over random fangirl shit. I never thought I would just type up posts about having a nice visit with my little cousin. I certainly never thought I'd feel comfortable enough here to talk about physical therapy, or the fact that I even go to physical therapy at all. It actually makes me very happy that it was just a post about my life. I don't know why.

HERE...HAVE A PICSPAM IN HONOR OF THIS MOMENTOUS OCCASION!!

This is Elijah Wood greeting Orlando Bloom. I'm told it's a customary greeting for Hobbits and Elves. As is tradition.

HUGS & KISSES & CUDDLES, OH MY! )

Also, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] waywardson_lvr!! Hope it was grand, darling!! For your birthday, have this picture of JDM and his best girl. It totally keeps with the theme of the picspam, since they are TOTALLY CUDDLING!!! Also, BELLY!!

One More For The Road...

dodger_sister: (mother)
I think I am wearing my underwear backwards. Just FYI.

Now onto important things. I should have posted this two months ago, but I am lazy and lame and did I mention lazy? Do any of you remember this summer when I talked about my favorite summer soap opera - As All World Turns? (that I unfortunately stopped doing recaps for because of that lazy-lameness I mentioned above). As All World Turns is totally real and has nothing to do with my sister's Sims. /shifty-eyed look/

Anyway, the producer of that show has made a new show and OMG, you guys need to be watching it, like whoa. You know that quote from Glee where Holly and Coach Sue were all, "Hoarders is good, but Animal Hoarders is better."

Well, Baby Hoarders is THE BEST THING EVER!

They hoard babies! BABIES, YOU PEOPLES!

BABIES! Here's a video under the cut. )

Unfortunately, too many people were afraid of having their children taken by Social Services - so they couldn't get anyone else to do the show and thus only produced one episode.

Boo that.
dodger_sister: (chuckisgod-nami86)
So, this is my sister's Sims. She started a new game play just before Memorial Day. Every weekend, when The BFF is down, she takes us in her room and shows us what has happened this week on her Sims. She puts together these three minute videos and we flail around about "OMG, did you see Richard and Misha holding hands? They're so cute! Did you see Dean crying again? OMG, Dean, I want to huggle you! When are Xander and Anya going to have another baby?" But the episodes are really short, so it's possible I expand on them a little bit.

For your pleasure. Not mine. /looks around shifty eyed at you all/

Also, I live under the delusion/truth that AS ALL WORLD TURNS IS A REAL SHOW - DON'T TELL ME IT ISN'T - I CAN'T HEAR YOU - LALALALA

As All World Turns - Season One - Episode 3 & 4 - Recaps )

I'm so excited for Dean's MILF action, you guys. I think this J2 thing is going to totally take off the ground. And I kinda want to write some hate-sex JDM/Evil Councilman Mark Pellegrino <--what? He's evil but he ain't ugly.

Now I'm gonna go look for some As All World Turns fan-fiction.
dodger_sister: (checkthisshitout-quoth_the)
I had you at Unicorns, didn't I?

You know what's hot? FBI men in suits. Just sayin'. On to other stuff...

Yesterday The BFF calls from her family vacation (she went with her parents to visit both her brothers who live out-of-state). But you know how when you are trapped for an extended period of time with "normies" and you have to have whole days worth of conversations about things that AREN'T Misha Collins?

It's not pleasant.

So when she finally got some away time from them all, she gave me a call. I tried to help her cram an entire day of fan-girl-ing into one hour. We discussed Misha (which mostly just consisted of sighing "Oh, Misha, I love you." <-- Okay, maybe that was just me), Winters/Nixon, Thomas Jefferson, Chad Michael Murray and Ash from SPN and The Waffle House, Jensen's underwear, and Charlie the Unicorn.

Somehow, she just saw the Charlie the Unicorn video, but she had never heard of the SPN version. Nor had she heard about Jared talking about it. This must be rectified. And since I'm here, and posting crack anyway, let me share some with you...

Random visual video crack slightly pertaining to our conversation... )

That is all.
